  1. Individual comparisons of this nature don't mean a lot imo. It's a team thing, it's about getting the blend and balance right. Even if overall we have better players than Bolton there is no guarantee Allardyce will be able to mould them into a decent team. I'm not sure where the idea of us having excellent midfielders/forwards is coming from. Our midfielders in particular are very over-rated and up front we only have 1 striker of genuine and real quality. We have another striker of potential good quality but the rest are shite. We won't break the 40 goals scored barrier this season and we've conceded less goals than Bolton.
  2. Not being funny like, but Barton is pretty much average imo.
  3. You're like a bloody soft poodle with your tongue halfway up your mate. mackems.gif Well, at least it's a new one! mackems.gif Well you are a new member. BTW What is the old one? New member? Yes of course I am! Couldn't manage the complete post then? Nope I could have managed it fine, I was trying to draw out one of your many catchphrases. I didn't have to try too hard! Catchphrase..... mackems.gif mackems.gif
  4. Fair point. I'm more worried by the fact they've conceded more goals this season than we have, and we're the ones with the supposedly shit defence. I also think he's a bit of a bluffer. He hasn't really done that much and as I've said in another thread, he's at a club with low expectations. It will be different at a club like Newcastle.

  6. You may be right that it's negative, but it's also true.
  7. All the waffle aside what are your valid reasons for not wanting Allardyce? Seen as you asked I’ll give you my reasons for not wanting Allardyce, I will add that Allardyce does have his strengths and I see those – but they don’t outweigh what I feel are valid reasons for not wanting him. Sam’s not that good, just look at how well Bolton have done since the turn of the year. 16 points from their last 16 games, that’s relegation form and not the sign of a top manager who has built a side over the past 8 years. DLLD WWLL LLWW DLDL (most recent on the left) I’m not impressed! LDLD WLLD LWLW DWDL is Roeders by the way, 4 points better for what its worth What he is clearly good at is bluffing the public into thinking that he's doing an amazing job (Boro 5-1 Bolton, Spurs 4-1 Bolton, Man U 4-1 Bolton). For me Sam Allardyce is Graham Taylor reincarnate. Sam organizes a side that's hard to break down, with ten players behind the ball. In addition, most of the attack is the kind of predictable wing plan seen in the Championship, and if not that it's all set pieces and long balls into the box. Panorama - At the time he stated he was going to sue the BBC, actual lawsuits - None. What happened to Bolton's investigation, to be carried out in public? We don’t know they haven’t released any details. As far as I know the Quest investigation is still taking place – I’d like to hear the results before backing Sam. He’s turned us down twice (source The Times & nufc.com), suggests to me that he doesn’t really really want the job. If England ever came calling he’d be off like a shot – that’s the job he really wants. In my eyes he’s a Mackem, (aye aye Venison and Bracewell – I know), he was in my 1980 Panini sticker Album as a Mackem and I know it’s immature of me, but I’ll forever associate him with “that lot”. On a more personal note I think that he’s a belligerent, gobby, gum chewing self-publicist with media friendly nickname. Buying in foreign mercenaries, saying the words Pro Zone continually, and having the type of blue tooth headset currently sported by plumbers isn’t the sign of a top manager to me. The thought of Sam Allardyce as Newcastle manager makes me want to stave my own head in with my laptop. Very good post.
  8. and if after appointment SA is found guilty .... ... fans will be on Shepherds back for appointing him... probably like! That would be fully justified anarl. The fat, pie eating, heap of worthless crap. Seriously. Since so many people are having a wankfest at the idea of Allardyce becoming the manager, I wonder what they will say if Allardyce either isn't offered the job, or rejects any offer of the job?

  10. The departure of Speed was well supported on the Toontastic forum, mate. The majority over there had been claiming for ages that he was shit, couldn't pass more than 2 yards. Confirmed by the post just above.

  12. of course it is. The sky pundits, especially the likes of Jamie Redknapp, know all about Newcastle United, and have no bias whatsoever. So what they say is correct, every time. Particularly if they say Oba Martins is a top player, because he's scored a few spectacular goals on the telly, and we have a "bad defence because Newcastle have always had a bad defence ever since the days of Keegan". Are you somehow suggesting that the pundits are perpetuating the myth of Newcastle having a shoddy defence which is actually the 6th best defence in the world? Classically ludicrous over-exaggeration. Putting words into others' mouth-tastic! I completely agree. I'm surprised at you having a snipe at one of your chums for that bit of spam though. I'm not in the least bit surprised. It was only a bit of banter. Which of course, you have willfully misinterpreted into something more than what it was. Considering what you've been posting AFTER this one I think irony is definitely the word of the day..... Well done. Waiting for your chum(s) .........
  13. According to grandfather NE5 and some other mentalists on this board you cant have opinion about Newcastle and the team unless you have been on the stadium watching the team live Making stuff up again, I see. It won't become a fact because you say it a lot, you know. Whos making stuff up, what are you on about! Well I replied to a post and quoted it.

Are you somehow suggesting that the pundits are perpetuating the myth of Newcastle having a shoddy defence which is actually the 6th best defence in the world? find where I said that or anything like it ? The same "shoddy defence" which has a pretty decent defensive record this season, despite spending far too many games up against it through the hopeless players in front of them conceding ground and forcing them on the back foot. Obviously, looking at the posts on some of the NUFC boards, too many people have indeed been listening to these people, who are quite happy knowing they are actually half convincing half hearted Newcastle fans that they know what they are talking about, because deep down they are happy to keep us in the position we are in, knowing that we would wipe their arses with their own little cockney tosspot teams the day we finally get our act together. As we did when Keegan was manager. Which is why they slate him and the fact he "won nowt". Laughable, and showing a complete lack of appreciation of where this club was when he walked through the door. Which sort of proves my point completely. No, you misunderstand me - I admit perhaps dropping in the reference to 6th best defence in the world was a tongue-in-cheek comment - but you're right that there's a great many of us who find it difficult to live with being ridiculed for having a shite defence, let alone having to watch it week in week out. But the main point you make about the midfielders being weak is spot on. We haven't had a decent midfield performance since Gary Speed left us, and even well before that I'd say. It would be interesting to dig up the old posts and see who was slating Gary Speed for being shite. I'm not saying you were among them, although it's possible, but it was obvious at the time that Gary Speed was the true influence in the team and that he would be sorely missed. Posting these things about the quality of Gary Speed at the time always brought a volley of abuse from the some people though, then later on they see it. It happens time and time again. Sadly, I wasn't posting on this board at the time we had the genius of Gary Speed at our disposal. Otherwise I'd be able to go back and pull up loads of quotes from myself about how he was the true talisman of the club, forget Shearer etc. it was always Speed that held the team together. He was the glue. Sadly, you're posting on here now, but I wish you'd stick to toonstastic. By the way, where did I say I made posts about Gary Speed on this forum? Try thinking before you write something.
  16. mackems.gif Funnier by the minute. You should read your own stuff before aiming that kind of comment toward someone else. BTW Aren't you supposed to be in your 40's?
  17. I'll give him one thing GM, he'd make an excellent witness during cross-examination, sticking to the same story constantly even when the defence/prosecution have produced overwhelming evidence to show he's got less brain cells than, well, all those he tells on here have only one brain cell! Ahh, I detect love in the air.....
  18. Thanks for that, but I'm not always right. Which of course, makes you wrong. Again.

Didn't expect you to get the joke, but there was always an outside chance you might. The fact I "willfully" edited the two posts into one should have been a big enough clue even for your brain cell to cope with. Obviously not and I'm not surprised.

  22. I agree with what you're saying there. I also agree with your comment abouot the post from HF http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=39630.msg813656#msg813656 It is factual and very good.
