  1. West Ham looked woeful yesterday so I'm optimistic that they'll try to resurrect the Dire deal.
  2. Sounds like he's got gonorrhea to me.
  3. I'm disappointed Nobby wants to leave. He would have been my first choice right back and he'll be difficult to replace at this late stage. Why the fuck mention it now though? Perhaps he is going to be a make weight in the Dire to West Ham deal, and this is part of a smokescreen so that we'll never get to know what happened last week, and both parties can save face.

I'm totally at a loss how you can come to the conclusion that "The only people who come out of this looking bad are once again West Ham." We set the original price and then just as Dire's about to put pen to paper, we lumped another £2 million on his price. IMO this makes NUFC look totally unprofessional. If, as has been reported, West Ham were gloating about getting Dire on the cheap, so fucking what? We set the original price, from our perspective Dire's damaged goods, £6 million was a good price and now we're lumbered with the spoilt fucking brat who'll be loathe to pick his feet up for us this season. Signs point to West Ham being up to something untoward imo, especially in the light of Magnusson having to retract comments he'd previously made to the press. How ? If you agree a fee, that is it. If we've found out West Ham have been up to something, tapping up for example, then we're entitled to whack the price up. He's our player after all. Tapping up only applies when the player being tapped up is wanted by the club holding said player's registration. Dire's time at NUFC is/was at an end. £6 million was a fair price imo. Like I've said earlier I can't think of one reason or circumstance that justifies our action. Ashley has decided he thinks Dyer is worth more than £6m, and as he now effectively belongs to him (in a football sense) he is perfectly within his rights to change the price, irrespective of whether anything else has gone on. It's like being gazumpted when selling a house. It may be legal, but it's morally wrong. I was hoping our new owner would instill the professionalism that's been lacking from our club in recent years. My hopes have taken a severe knock with the Dire fiasco.
  5. This snippet taken from The Times: He (Sam) is expected to field a 4-3-3 formation, fitness permitting, with Alan Smith selected in midfield and Obafemi Martins and James Milner operating wide of Mark Viduka in attack. I'm not really keen on Martins playing in this formation. He's a bit of a headless chicken at the moment and finds it difficult to get his head up and keep it simple. It'll be a big learning curve for him, just hope he doesn't give the ball away cheaply and put us on the back foot too often.

  8. I can't believe that the "Fuck off not at that price" number has increased since his debut. Fucking cretins!!!

Would you care to speculate?? I can't think of anything that West Ham may have done that would make us up the price by £2 million just as Dire was about to put pen to paper.

I've given the steps involved in a footballers transfer in idiot proof detail in an earlier post. Whatever the reason for upping the price, we f***** up!!! End of Story. "End of story" the classic words of someone talking out of their arse. So it isn't possible that we were happy with the price from west ham and then because of some un-explained pissing off behaviour we decided to up our price? For example, if i had found out that we'd accepted a bid from a club that had been tapping up one of our players then i'd be tempted to make them pay more out of spite. We have every right to change our mind on the value of our players. As Mick said earlier, this tapping up argument only applies when you actually want to keep the player involved. Regarding "our right to change our mind on the value of our players" , that's totally pathetic. As NE5 said earlier, it makes us look amateurish and leaves us open to the same behaviour from other clubs we deal with in the future.

Ok, let's start at the beginning for you, firstly you want to call me an idiot, go look in the mirror first. Secondly, why would it be the clubs fault if they have entered into the agreement in good faith, believing that Dyer wouldn't be asking for his loyalty bonus and then he goes, "oh by the way about that 2 mil you owe me?" What you think they should just open up the wallet and go, here Kieron, you're such a good chap and have been such a good employee, we'll just sort out the balance for you! Like fu<k they should. But then again with supporters like yourself that point the finger at the club whether they're right or wrong maybe they should just roll over spread their cheeks and go, here help yourself. We all want rid of Dyer but why should we pay him for the privilage? Like I said earlier, if Dire had a "loyalty" bonus written into his contract this should have been factored into the asking price. You're assuming that Dire might have verbally waived his entitlement to said bonus, again, total bollocks! Chris Mort is a lawyer and he would have got that sort of agreement in writing before accepting West Ham's offer of the full asking price, and if he didn't then he deserves to be struck off and massive questions would have to be asked on his suitability to function as Chairman of NUFC. That's speculation, but whatever the reasons for this debacle, NUFC are at fault.

Are you serious? The club has every right to object and would have the support of 99% of fans for standing up to being held to ransom for even more money. If it is true that Dyer wants his loyalty bonus after all but requesting a transfer, see the above post if you want more information, he deserves to rot in the reserves. Eh??? What are you going on about??? Who said we are being held to ransom??? It shouldn't be hard to arrange the transfer of a footballer should it? It should go something like this:- We make the player available, we set a price whilst also factoring in anything in the players contract such as "loyalty" bonuses etc. We get a club interested in the player, they agree to the price we've set, we allow the player to enter into personal negotiations with the buying club, they agree personal terms, the player has a medical and if he passes he signs a contract. Shouldn't be too difficult should it, except we may not have factored into the price Dire's potential "loyalty" bonus or, as has been stated by Sam, we undervalued Dire by £2 million. Either way we fucked up, West Ham are totally innocent in this, and if you think allowing a £6 million asset to "rot in the reserves" is in the best interests of NUFC you're a bigger idiot than you sound!

It's more Dyer's and West Ham's problem than ours. We clearly aren't desperate for cash, and either Dyer buckles down and gets on with it or he can kiss his England career goodbye. Nice. Oh yeah, we're so flush we can afford to spunk £6 million plus the waster's inflated wage packet! Get real man!!!
  15. Butt must struggle for a game when Barton's fit. Saw Geremi for the first time yesterday and was very impressed. His first touch was amazing, and his all round game was excellent. Looks like a great signing.

Well that's what Sam has said, Newcastle undervalued Dire! Either it's true or Sam's making himself look a prick to protect his inept employers.

There's no doubt that our management have totally fucked up the Dire deal, and for Sam to come out and say he's annoyed with West Ham is total bollocks! We've given the brat a ready made reason to sulk and not perform for us and, if the West Ham deal can't be resurrected, we'll end up selling him for a lot less than £6 miilion in the not too distant future. Ashley and his sidekick should admit their mistake and get the deal done now.
  18. A very encouraging debut by Smudger. I wonder if any of the 200 odd who voted "Fuck off not at that price" are having second thoughts.
  19. If he's picking up his wages then he's obliged to put himself in the right frame of mind I would think. Someone should have told him that 8 years ago!

If Dire had a loyalty clause in his contract surely this would have been discussed before it got to the stage of almost putting pen to paper and finalising the move to West Ham. Sounds to me like our new Chairman has been outwitted by Dire and his agent by not anticipating that Dire would want the "loyalty" bonus irrespective of the fact that Dire engineered the circumstances to get the move in the first place. I know it's all speculation at this stage but this scenario would fit with Dires' greed and desire to shaft the club one last time.

Hasn't he signed yet??? I'm getting nervous.
  23. I have confidence in Sam. IMO Smith is not a mediocre player and I'm sure Sam can see where Smith will fit into his team. As for a replacement for Dire, how about a large pile of steaming dog turd!
  24. What's Smith done to deserve this sort of comment Skirge? I've always thought you were one of the milder regular forumites on here. I think Smith will be a canny player for us as long as he's fully recovered from his injury. At least he's a 100%er compared to Dire's 20% on a good day.
