  1. The ball shouldn't have been able to drop at Ronaldo's feet in the first place. The cross from Park passed 3-4 Newcastle shirts that didn't even try and intercept. 3 players then were caught ball watching and left Scholes free in the centre. Bad defending for that goal overall on most players parts.
  2. I take my hat off to Sibierski for apologising about not scoring the header. It takes some guts to come out after the match and say "Hey, maybe we would have won had I not missed and I'm sorry for that". We very rarel these days see players coming out and saying things like that after a game.
  3. Some inspiring words from Roeder: Roeder said that the power of positive thinking was vital to the superb draw a scratch Newcastle team achieved against the title favourites. He explained: "I said to the players before the game, and I reminded them of it after the game, that anything is achievable in life if you put your mind to it and really, really think that you can achieve a result. "I wanted them to be relaxed before kick-off then get their heads down and get together and fight for the ball wherever it was on the pitch. "This is as good as Newcastle have done against Manchester United for a while, and I would like to think that the fans have seen a good game and have gone away happy. "I'm a greedy person and it would have been nice to take three points, but in the circumstances one isn't bad." Maybe he is the man for this job. Guess we'll have to wait to find out.

    Edgar

Edgar's Treat Delights Magpies By Gary Oliver NEWCASTLE United manager Glenn Roeder said a dream had come true for home debutant David Edgar after the 19-year-old defender salvaged a dramatic point against Premiership leaders Manchester United at St. James' Park. Edgar struck from 25 yards after 73 minutes to level the game at 2-2 and Roeder said afterwards: "Every person has a dream in their lives and it very rarely comes true. "For David, and his father Eddie, who was here today, that is one of the few occasions where the dream has come true." Roeder admitted Edgar would have been on the bench had former Manchester United star Nicky Butt, pencilled in to play at centre-half, not succumbed to knee and ankle injuries two hours before kick-off. The Magpies boss added: "It's a strange game, football, with many twists and turns. You don't know what's around the corner. David would have been on the bench and Paul Huntington would have kept his position. "The biggest surprise to us was when David arrowed that shot into the corner - he's kept that one from me for the past nine months! "He's never got close enough to the other end to score - but it was very, very pleasing to see it in the back of the net." Edgar, nominally a centre-back and playing out of position at left-back during Newcastle's injury jinx, was brought to Newcastle at the age of 13 by his Tyneside-born ex-goalkeeper father, who played once for United in 1976 and now runs a training school in Kitchener, Canada. Roeder coached Edgar and fellow-centre-back Paul Huntington in his time as Academy Manager at Newcastle and added: "I know them inside out. I know their strengths and weaknesses. And I was concerned for Paul and for David that the ask was maybe too much too soon. "Paul has now had seven games and done very, very well. David has now had two games and both of them have been a pleasant surprise to me. That's not me being negative, but very protective of young players." Roeder also struck a note of caution when he warned: "We mustn't get carried away. It's just a start to their careers and it would be wrong to give them too much good publicity before they have completely earned it." http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~949701,00.html
  5. Just seen the incident. There must be someone up there looking out for him because he's bloody lucky his careers not over. Landed head first on the ground and then just lay motionless on the pitch. Looked at the time like he'd broken his neck.
  6. To be fair to Emre though, He was carrying an injury from the 5th minute onwards and soldiered on. I don't think he was that bad.
  7. It's sping tingling. I had shivers when I saw that. Definately the best thing about the game. Did you see Glenn's reaction? He had to be held up by Terry Mac, he nearly fainted
  8. We deserved that point. A hell of a fighting performance, especially from that patched up defence. Delighted for Edgar and Milner - both scoring great goals. Well done lads
  9. Failed a fitness test with a swollen ankle
  10. so we're playing: Given Solano Taylor Huntington Edgar Milner Parker Emre Dyer Martins Sibierski at a guess

  14. We had exactly the same feeling Steve
  15. I reckon we may be forced to play: Given Solano Taylor Huntington Edgar Milner Dyer Butt Emre Sibierski Martins if Parker is suspended, Ramage is injured and some of our injured players fail to recover.
  16. Huh? Spurs (h), Bolton (a), Everton (a), Man Utd (h) Granted we'll probably beat Spurs, Bolton and Everton are strong at home and Man U are Man U Wish I took some delight from the fact that I've been pretty much spot on bluesigh.gif
  17. We need to win by 4 to go 8th I think. A win will see us 9th. If every game finishes 0-0, we'll go 10th
  18. Worth it just to see Alan Pardew's reaction to it
  19. Shay Given is definately not the best keeper in the league. He may be one of the top 4/5 but he's not the best. Anyone on here who says he is would have a different opinion if they weren't Newcastle fans IMO.
  20. Van Der Sar is definately the best keeper currently in the league IMO. Given and Jaaskelainen would be my other two.
  21. January 15th - Mark Viduka £5m - although I'd rather we didn't
