were Grammatically, England was poor yesterday, is actually the correct version. 'England' is not a plural. To say, England were poor yesterday, you would have to say 'the England players'. [/pedant] But it's implicit here. "England" can bee seen as equalling "the players" or "them". "Were" is accepted.

Watching England's game last night made me think of Gazza. Exactly what that team needs someone with a bit of flair and adventure.

Same old same old. Gerrard doing some huffing and puffing and Lampard being the complete ball and chain of the whole midfield. There are so many similarities between England and NUFC. The picking policy seems to work along the same lines, chose the names not what is blatantly going to be a better team.

Actually kid mascots too annoy me. At the WC especially. Why does there have to be one for each and every player? looks stupid them standing there suring the national anthems, should only be the players.

same here actually Wonder why I bother sometimes, there are so many things that wind me up and annoy me in the game. English footy is still the best to follow. No question about it. Had to watch a couple of games from the French league the other week, and it was awful. Truly abismal coverage.

Those yellow balls are really starting to annoy me. No need whatsoever. Animated ad boards is one of mine too. Horrible. Also, Black goal nets. Can hardly see that them ripple when the ball goes in. Chelsea and Arsenal stupidly had them (Chelsea still do in CL). Ours are half and half, which annoys me slightly. Teams who change the home kit every single year.

We are the kings for that. Give us a throw in or a free kick around the opposition's last third, more often than not we'll have the ball down at the other end of the pitch with us scrambling back for our lives within seconds.

A red card would have been very harsh, given the way Helgusson overreacted to a simple arm accross the waist, flinging himself to the floor. Doesnt stop the fact Bramble had his usual lapse and couldnt control a ball properly laying straight into the path of the opposite striker.

Except that even when Zog is back, Roeder'll still make Duff first pick. Still holding out some faint hope that Duff will remember how to play, but want to see Zog return as well. Charlie was pretty poor before his injury, 2nd season (or whatever) syndrome maybe, but he still done far better than Duff He was, aye, but he was in and out of the team and half the time being bumped into central midfield because of Duff. He was awesome against Portsmouth at home though, looked like coming back to his best. Even when he was supposedly not great, he still had sparks of genius going forward. Was way better than Duff in that short period of time when he got a few games together. We clearly miss him in the team.
