Why can't we keep this shit in-house like other clubs manage to? All that Shepherd has done is further inflame the situation. This type of thing alerts other clubs to the fact that Zog's position is basically untenable. Chairman publically slating a player means he's a 'persona non grata' and his value will plummet. Other clubs aren't thick and will offer shite money, safe in the knowledge that the vendors will be forced to accept it to get him out of the door. Feels odd this. If you asked me a month ago how I'd feel if we released Bramble I'd have been delighted. Now he's actually gone I've got a tiny tiny bit of sympathy for him. True, he made a ridiculous number of mental errors but was unfortunate in as much as virtually every error resulted in a goal conceded. Very rarely did we get away with it when he fucked up. Also feel that the media picked up on this and he became the symbol of 'the shaky Newcastle defence'. Which was slightly unfair imo. We conceded some horrible goals but not that many to justify the abuse they got from pundits who fucking pilloried them at every available opportunity. However, they're history and probably rightly so. Although can't see why some are giving Gooch such a hard time. Can't really judge a player on a handful of games especially when he's been thrown straight in at the deep end. But it's a moot point anyway - they're gone. If rumours circulating down here are true, there were figures of £12m at year 1, £9m or £9.2m at year 2 and £4m or £4.6m at year 3. They are only rumours so I've no idea if there is any truth in them at all. But how the fuck can you invoke it if you haven't played. How can you punish the club if you've been sitting on your arse for a year. It makes no sense legally, morally or even in the warped logic of the professional footballer. Means nowt how many games he's played or missed. The fact is, his value started to head south as soon as we signed him. The less time he has left on his contract, the smaller the transfer fee he commands. The amount of games he's played is irrelevant.
