  1. you are allowed physical contact which may bring the man down if you are getting to the ball first and it isn't to deliberatly bring the man down. if not every tackle with contact where the player tackled hits the deck would be a free kick/pen.
  2. not just his play impressed last night but for the first time for us it seemed like he took on the responsibility of leading/organising the defensive line.
  3. because it would be used after every tackle and would take for ever. it would lead to 10 gree kicks every corner. as you point out the game was held up for a minute before the pen. what happens when they've played on and play is brought back after a minute maybe 20 times a game. the only way it could work is if ,as in tennis, they teams were allowed 3 "challanges" per game to have an incident reviewed.
  4. Well done Habib Beye for being better than Carr, Hughes and Griffin. Picking the bones again, then. Class counter-argument. I can't take seriously what you're saying about him tonight, so i'll just ask: what've you got against him like? The fact that he's not a particularly good crosser of the ball? That for me, is his only real weakness. I've got nothing against him apart from I don't think he's that good. If Steven Taylor made that tackle in the box then reactions would be completely different, fair enough he got a slight touch on the ball but you can't make tackles from behind anywhere on the pitch so to make one in the penalty box is daft. wasn't from behind in that sense Of course it was from behind, unless his leg bends the other way. the tackle was with his right and doesn't hit the back of the player. the trailing leg doesn't his the player at all. technically not classed as a tackle from behind. wheres mosely when you neede him ? Mosely reckons it won't be rescinded. Talked to him in the pub after the game. wait till he's watched it a couple of more times and i've threatened him I think it was wrong but I don't think they'll rescind it... i think they will as there is an angle which is very conclusive that it was a clean tackle. would you care to expand for all on the tackle from behind rule ?
  5. i agree re carroll. xisco will run and chase and harry. carroll can win the odd flick on for no-one. the fowards substitution was should have been as with a mind on the defensive aswell
  6. I could barely speak at one point. That encroachment had me raging like. Geremi's asking him to take the wall back and he just stands there and flat out refuses. How is this man allowed to referee a game of this magnitude? a newcastle player stood at the point where styles had placed the wall (think it was duff). stayed where he was and styles watched the wall stride forward a couple of yards..................i was going ballistic.
  7. theres a fair chance i've burst a blood vessel in my throat (i've done it before..leeds 2-1) shouting at styles not to stop play when their player went down 2 foot from the touchline. then again at some encroachment from a geremi free kick
  8. It was a mis-kick, hence the reaction. aye....my reaction when i thought "why's it in the net"
  9. played better tonight than he has for a long time. still don't think he has a future here. honestly thought he's put it wide when scored but he did the right thing in carrying it forwrad a touch instead snatching early at a ball that was a bit high to have a crack at.

    Man City

man city are being over hyped based on their possible future. as for now thay are a tidy team who want to play a passing game but are poor defensivly (not the back 4 but as a team)

His foot touched the ball before any of him touched the man, how can you do that from behind? Give over man, it was a cracking tackle. The ref wasn't in any position to see it, it should have been the linesman's call. you can do it from behing if the tackling leg goes round but the trailing leg goes through the player..........which didn't happen in this case.

  15. Do yourself a favour man and ignore him. If you don't agree with them then ignore them . I know your game. don't expect a reply
  16. I'm not winding anyone up. If you attempt to tackle someone from behind in the box when you're the last man then you run the risk of getting yourself sent off, even if you do get the ball. The refs have been clamping down on tackles from behind over the last few years and you usually see a few freekicks given throughout the game for it even if you do win the ball. he didn't tackle from behind as such as he tackled with his right leg from the side and didn't go through the player. from this position his trailing cant come from behind either.
  17. Did he actually say that? He did however say words to the effect of "Just because you get the ball first doesn't mean its a penalty". true as i understand the rules,if it's a tackle from behind . ie if beyes tackle had been with his left leg and his right leg came through the back of the player....it didn't. edit...you did mean that poll said "Just because you get the ball first doesn't mean its NOTa penalty".didn't you.
  18. best let them have a free run at goal instead of legitimatly winning the ball
  19. the trajectory of the ball means little as beye (from styles view) could have touched it whilst taking the player out or slightly before. styles problem was that he was so sure.
  20. let wright philips get inside a couple of times before the sending off. after that forced wright philips where he wanted him mostly.
  21. timmy man. you trying give dave a seizure ?
