but why NUFC? this isn't having a go,just curious

ironically the premiership is experiencing a huge boom due to the TV money so it will take a couple of years, when tv rights are renegotiated, to see if this has any effect. crowds might fall a bit but this is less important than ever. As long as people can afford current sky/cable prices/going to bars and watch advertising for products they then purchase, it will all be fine. sky without football is fucked----football without sky is fucked----mutual dependency

eve herself after giving vent to the entire human race in ethiopia(ish) made her way to north shileds to get in on the then booming herring trade.

is it time for a " if you are from far away from newcastle....what dragged you to NUFC?" type of thing ?

but on that sort of scale doesn't it mean that beacuse of the present financial climate kaka will probably move for £20mill instead of £44 gazilliontrillion

Do you know the full facts of what happened or just certain snippets? Care to oblige? Found out the day before Keegan got appointed that he was taking the job and was promised £40 million at the very least to spend. Also the same person said that Keegan can't stand the site of Wise as he bypassed him time and time again with regards to the buying and selling of players. I'm not the only one on here who was told this by the same person. Do you know anything about the list that Keegan handed in? Becasue in my eyes thats where i pinpoint the major major issue and breakdown. I see keegan looking at players who werent fitting in with the clubs policy. If my hunch is correct as an owner i wouldnt have a clue how to go about it. Im not sure id be keen on letting my manager have so much money if i knew from the off he wasnt going to buy the right type of players for the club. ah the mythical list. i wonder what ammount of truth there is to that. mythical? Im pretty sure keegan openely talked about swapping lists with Wise and having to have to look up some of the players. but what do we know about which actual players were on either list. thats why i asked about it. thought you were using it as one of those rhetorical thingies "rhetocial thingies" is that a technical term?! look i spelled rhetorical wright touche. the fun bit is i didn't even realise. had to check because of your reply.

Considering their attendances are so far below capacity (around 80%) they could do worse than give us a few extra. No doubt however lots of "loyal" macums will be getting dragged in for this one. It'll be a full-house. It's their Cup Final. Must have been some sort of flu going around the place in 2006. could've been typhoid. they have a history.

first day back training tomorrow i think.

Mike Ashley - Newcastle's best ever chairman/owner.

Aye, as a mechanism for supplying instant success it has proved sadly deficient. As a mechanism for supplying almost instant relegation though, it's proving worryingly efficient. that i suppose we'll have to wait and see (and hope not). i still feel we were closer to relegation under allardyce than we are now. For largely the same reason - lack of investment in the squad. (Though I never wanted Allardyce and think he would never have succeeded). how many more times does the nail have to be hit squarely on the head here exactly...how many times do you need telling that giving a s*** manager loads of money still takes you backwards. how many times do you need to be told that its impossible to appoint a winning manager every time, and good managers - if you find one - will piss off to clubs that back them if they are with clubs that don't. everytime...EVERYTIME! if we employed a CEO who found the managers you'd demand his head for getting,in your words "the manager is his most important employee" wrong three times off the spin. -

How exactly is it in his best interests to block a higher transfer fee (which he'll get a % of) and wages? If that's how the system works, I'm not impressed, as 1) Modric isn't that good he was worth buying (at that price) just for the sake of it. 2) We were/are desperate for that position 3) It's a s*** way of going about transfers regardless other clauses in the contract, sell on fees etc. -

modric. even keegan said they had accepted the bid. I don't remember Keegan saying anything about it, but I'll take your word for it - he would only be parroting what he'd been told by Wise/Mort anyway. So if the bid was accepted, we offered better terms to the player, and the player had no say in the decision, why is he not playing for us now instead of the next best thing to Modric - Danny Guthrie? ask the player or his representatives. (and i think we dodged a bullet by not getting him aswell) His representatives are the one's you said accepted the bid. his club accepted the bid. Zdravko Mamić is both the vice-chairman of Zagreb and is/was Modric's agent. maybe the chairman made the decision. What, the chairman accepted our bid, but the vice-chairman blocked the deal acting as the player's agent so he could go to Spurs for a lower transfer fee and on lower wages? Then of course, when we got knocked back for Modric we went in for the next player on the list, Danny Guthrie. why not. the chairman working in the clubs interest and the vice chairman working in his own interest. as for guthrie maybe it didn't work like that. maybe they weren't that desperate for that position but thought modric was too good to turn down. kin of like jonas, not a position we were desperate for but too good to turn down -
