  1. You really haven't got a clue what you're talking about in terms of the debt part of what he's done have you? Why don't you explain it then? He's paid off a debt which then increases the price of his own asset, where am I wrong? Enlighten me. Easy 1) there's actually little difference between the rubbish in your first paragraph rather than "a big difference" like you say 2) he wasn't "forced to pay off the debt" 3) the idea he's not risked a penny is quite frankly stupid. As an example, if we got relegated last season, do you think he'd have got that money back? 4) how do you know the share bet was "very" dodgy at the time? Do you believe everything you read in the papers? All financial transactions carry a risk. Just like paying that debt off did. on point 4. i wonder if it was his first go ? or if maybe he's "won" in the past. bit like slagging for someone off for losing £1000 on a horse race when they've made £10,000 off racing in the previous week. or do you think printing a story about him winning money wouldn't be newsworthy ?
  2. The only thing Ashley likes to throw tons of money at is stock share gambling. he threw lots of money at karrimor, lillywhites, kangol etc. Did he?, to what extent and on what? Cheap stock to sell on at a profit? to buy them outright and they are still part of sports direct group.

  4. not so sure. i've seen them a bit recently and it'll be more amidfield problem than defensive one. at the same time citeh look poor defensivly as a team.
  5. Chances are that they'll go into the game with their lot expecting them to win it. We're in turmoil and the mackems have had a field day rubbing it in and they'll start as favourites for the first time in decades. As I've said, if we go there with a decent team they'll s*** themselves. they must've been favourites the day of domi's goal (2-2) and that of o'brien's (the andy variety) equaliser. They may well have been with the bookies but I've never known them see themselves as favourites to beat us. They always hope to catch us on an off day and turn us over. I get the impression that they'll be disappointed if they don't win this time. true enough

  7. they haven't beat us since last century. on their patch since 1980........................and i dread every time we play them as we always have more to lose.
  8. Because he wasnt looking for a quick sale, The Keegan rumpus gave him the ultimate exit strategy. What?? Come one man, you know you're grasping at straws with this one!! Why does he need an exit strategy? If he wants to sell he's well entitled to sell. Just like Sasha Gaydamak. You say it was getting too expensive for him but if he can get £300m for the club now, how much do you think he'd of got if he left us in a much helathier situation higher in the league with Keegan at the helm? All entirely a possilbilty. And how much money relaisitically would he have to spend from now until he could of sold at the end of season? Hardly any money is spent in January. And finally, do you think the club is more apealling to investors and buyers a few days after the transfer window has shut with no manager and a club in dissaray or do you think it's be more appealing at the end of the season with a big trasfer window to work with? None of it these conspiracy and doom mongering ideas makes sense whatsoever - Ashley was in for the long run - if he wasnt he certainly knew that the best time to sell was definitely not now. Even selling in Jan would of been a better time for the club and for him. i don't think it gave him an exit strategy (as by it's nature it's deliberatly engineered). had keegan not walked or the reaction to it muted he'd still be here. i'll leave you to make your own minds up as to wether you'd want that.

he said in public what is said in private all the time. again i'll ask which players at nufc have nufc as their first choice and would have turned down any of the top 4 for us. ? Well possibly Jonas, if word is to be believed, but your basic point is right. If a big four club comes in for a player, one can generally say that they will be the player's preference. Owen wasn't any different - he wanted to join Liverpool, and made that clear. However, we ignored that publicly stated wish and made a bid that was so large that Real couldn't consider Liverpool's offer. We took advantage of Owen's desperation to leave Real in time for the World Cup. Comparisons with other players in other situations is irrelevant. Owen's position was pretty unique. And when Owen made his statement, he was clearly asking us to back off and leave the field clear for Liverpool. To still go ahead was daft. his position wasn't in the slightest bit unique. thousands of players find themselves in the position of not being a first choice at a club and the club more than willing to let go and the player wanting first team football for whatever reason. as far as i'm aware jonas never turned down anyone for us let alone any of the top 4.

when did he tell you that? He didn't but correct though. Its like saying a prostitute does it for the thrill and the fulfilment and not the money. Owen is decent lay., but he's faking it. they all are. how many players at nufc, spurs, everton, pompey, etc have these clubs as a first choice and are only there because man utd, arsenal, chelsea, liverpool weren't interested in them ?
  12. you're aware that the rest of the country feels that way about both of our teams aswell ? More so in fact. With the added one of the stinking football rags (Mirror being by FAR the worst) getting excited at any dip in form at NUFC (and there's been many) Spuds get nowhere NEAR the negative press given to us. Not within LIGHT YEARS. only because nufc and fans do it in a much more flamboyant and melodramatic fashion.

he'll do the same and go to his best option. there is no reason to assume he'll not have to take a pay cut (my own belief is he most certainly will) wherever he goes, and that includes stopping here.
  14. we've all agreed to just let bygones be bygones and live happily ever after.

who of the current squad did want to come here ? every player goes to what he considers his best available option. would beye be here if man utd offered him 10% less ?
  16. what a load of rot. Ref your first paragraph - plenty of people have said in the past, when it suited them, everything stops with the owner [personally I don't necessarily agree] but why move the goalposts ? 2nd paragraph - I really don't think he did too much right at all 3rd para - of course he's to blame. He even had a chance to reverse the situation but didn't. The manager is his most important employee, so how the hell can you absove him of any blame < sigh > please tell us what you disagree with and why No mate, it's not that I disagree necessarily. I just found it funny that you made sure to cover all your bases from criticism with a good all-round use of the English language. Everything here is Ashley's fault, yet not everything was Shepherd's fault. edit: I thought bobyule's post was very reasoned, and told it like it is welll........I think its amusing that people who blamed Shepherd for everything are now making excuses for Ashley.........which is why I said so At the end of the day, we are in the biggest s*** for about 20 years, and a million miles away from equalling those european and Champs league qualifications never mind doing better. but we are not a million miles away from where we were for most roeders 2nd season or where we were when souness got the boot.. why do you only quote champs lge etc as examples of fred's work and not the drop from those heights or the appointment of 3 poor managers off the spin ?
  17. funny whan first aired but getting cliched now. nowt better than something original when taking the piss. Agreed, it's tedious now, along with all other scouse "poor robbing bastards" songs. wouldn't go that far. i like using that tactic to take the piss and it does get to them but it needs originality.

    WHAM!!

plenty of buyers wanting a prem club, this could actually work out none to bad for them.

  21. don't knock duff. we have never lost a league game in which he has scored in what ? three yeears now.
  22. you're aware that the rest of the country feels that way about both of our teams aswell ? The SSN-Newcastle-fan-stereotype, yes, but Everton? Do tell. the general feeling amongst other clubs that all 3 (nufc-efc-spuds) have an overgrown sense of their importance and capabilities. Must say I haven't noticed that amongst other-club-supporting people I know but if it is true, then there you go. Not that I give one. I genuinely feel Spurs fans are the worst out of them, but then again stereotypes have to be made, and a cross-section of fans of a certain club that you or me know may rightly or wrongly represent the general thoughts of the club's fans as a whole. true enough
