  1. Doesn't score goals with his feet. He's scored a couple of cracking goals with his feet this year, definately needs to work on his consistency in front of goal, but he's proven he can strike a ball. Jonas has scored 4, it proves nowt. His finishing with his feet is still his major weakness. how many has he scored with his feet ?
  2. Doesn't score goals with his feet. does and creates aswell. his major fault (playing wise) is the lack of being able to take a man on and get away from him.
  3. carroll is a lot better on the deck than many seem to think.
  4. Probably trying to get the ref on his side. Pretty clever tbh, doubt it will change much though. Yep, I'm sure the ref will already know all about Motta and Inter's antics though. quite looking forward to this match. first time in a while i've watched a game with no bearing on NUFC or cash (though i have backed barce)and actually really wanted one team to badly doo the other.

Les Ferdinand is in my top 3 or 4 all time favourite Newcastle forwards and he'd possibly come top of the list, he was brilliant and probably the best header of a ball we've ever had and that includes putting him above Wyn Davies who was regarded as being very good with his head. he would be looking for any get out ball from an under pressure player, often it went down as a good pass but was just as often a case of ferdinand making the most of a percentage ball.

a bug bear of mine and not just about butt. every club will sometime use the ball behind the full back or between full back and centre half as a get out ball and the forwards will often look for it......................we haven't done this since les ferdinand.

I could have worded my comment about his tackling a bit better but I doubt any of our players give away as much as Butt, his tackling is poor considering it's such a big part of his game. his tackling was fine his first 3 or 4 years but he did have the awfully professional habit of bringing down any players who were breaking free in the middle. the werent his players all the time either. players like scholes love playing against us as for years we've only ever marked forwards.
  8. Also know that Hughton flew out to personally run the rule over a player on sunday, no idea where though. i like the way people seem to be assuming it's for a lille player. To be fair, it was reported earlier in the season that we had a scout at the Liverpool-Lille game so it does seem like we have our eye on a Lille player. hope so....le tallec is nightmare inducing. though maiga (sp ?) is supposed to be highly thought of (i know nowt about him apart from a world soccer article froma few months back)

hes made plenty of clean tackles and most of his passes (though not the hollywood ones) find their man.

  11. He came up big for me against Williams. So I felt I should stick by him. Many have said he is the best ever but he is hardly in the Messi, Phil Taylor or Tiger Woods sort of class. you're joking. they are shit at snooker.
  12. most of the gateshead fans i know (3 of them) are all newcastle fans who just fell out of love with greedy bastard football.

it's not a question of defending his time here as pointing out many who've been as bad and had none of the abuse. Who's not had the abuse? Smith got loads, Owen got loads, Ameobi has had feck lods etc. owen did yes, smith has had nowhere near what butt got and neither has ameobi.

smith was, as he has been this season, nolan was as bad last season, geremi was worse as was cacapa, beye was poor and gutierrez played most of last season like he couldn't give a shit then lets throw owen, martins and viduka into the mix.

i'd disagree before this season. a lot of the time before that he was ok but it was butt therefore ok gets downgraded to shit.
  18. wild sex in blefs case. Car crash for the first one, second time it dislocated when I tripped on the stairs. Second time they had to knock me out to put it back in, cos I knew how much it hurt to do it from the first time. hey blef, you aint helping yourself. heres me trying to build you up so folk think you have some exciting lifestyle and you go killing all my work.
  19. It depends on your ligaments. If it is the first time, he won't be able to use the shoulder 100% for a month or so. If he has done it a lot, he will probably be fine in a couple of weeks. wouldn't it be a constant weak spot though, vianaesque ?

very much a victim of our s**** tactics in our latter prem years (he wasn't s*** under keegan when we had players moving and creating space so he could play his natural game of win it and give it simply). too many times he was caught holding on too long looking round wondering why all our players were stood still. i very much agree with that true faith article. It could be argued that Butt wasn't the problem in midfield but then who was? We had Milner and Duff on the wings and Butt was partnered by a succession of high profile central midfielders like Speed, Bowyer, Emre, Parker and Dyer. I don't recall either Owen or Martins being provided by a great service by this high value midfield. The truth is we suffered because we brought in tired has-beens whose best days were behind them...and Butt was one of those. even when he first came robert was going through a sulky spell, milner never stopped moving but his movement was that of a young kid who hadn't found his position. the problem was the whole team ethos, we went from pass and move to subbuteo in about 6 months. i can only guess too many players thought they had made it. since then can you remember our team having good movement ? not just the midfield, it has to come from all over or it just doesn't work.
  21. i've backed notts county so you still have a very good chance.
  22. it's difficuilt for that style of striker to impose himself without the service, unlike carroll who can be used as a target man. he's a fox in the box type player who makes some great runs that just aren't spotted by our midfield (something i've noticed from routledge aswell, gets himself round the back of his full back and comes round into the gap between full back and centre half, he's been picked out once!). naturally if we get in better players he can go (same goes for everyone in the team/squad) but with better midfielders i don't think he'd be such a luxury. i'd say he is capable of playing in the top flight but not in the top of the top flight.
