Top 10 Reasons Why Newcastle United Might Struggle To Make It In The EPL
madras replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Routledge has given us a threat down the right which we never had before, and that's also allowed us to push Guthrie inside which has improved our ability to play through the midfield in home games. But it's not exactly been a sea-change, and I haven't seen any performance where we've been remotely 'unplayable'. In every game that I've seen, there's been a lack of pace and mobility in central midfield, and as a result we find it difficult to pressure the ball when the opposition has possession. We still seem to rely on funnelling back behind the ball and defending in the final third. Championship teams haven't punished us for that strategy, but Premiership teams will. Our back four will get found out. The lack of movement also makes it difficult for us to retain the ball, and we often lose it when put under pressure. We rely a lot on Routledge and Jonas's individual ability down the wings. got to didsagee with a bit of that. mobility hasn't been a problem since routledge came into the team particularly in home games but it does seem like it is a tactic to sit and wait rather than pressure the ball and i think you go a bit OTT when you say 'final third' as most teams at SJP have only rarely got that far since january. -
draw no bet.

This. And he has the incredible agility and quick feet that Aaron Lennon and SWP have. Pretty sure he could take on most of the bottom half EPL teams fullbacks successfully. Wasn't he pretty good at Fulham when he went there on loan a couple of seasons back? he tends to start off pretty good everywhere but tails off after 3 or 4 months.

if they can't qualify, the place should not be given to another team in the league, as they haven't deserved to get it! there was a couple of times we didn't but still took our place,

tromso/stabaek tomorrow..................wavering over bayern munich.

thats a bit simplistic really just because he had a very quiet game. tell you what, even at his pomp i saw zidane have games as quiet as that and ronaldinho and maradona, guillit, van basten and zico for that matter.

The main reason people don't like Inter is because of the way they conducted themselves against us in the CL a few years ago. and their fans and policing in the away leg.
-
the independent is very similar with no murdochian connection. think MotD. man utd/liverpoo/chelsea/arsenal always get top billing and longer coverage. we did when we were up there. imo wider coverage would encourage wider support.

a back southampton, lay inter double.

I said this month ago when Level 7 started singing it and was slated for it. Im glad im not the only one who thinks its cringeworthy & small time Did we throw that chant into the mainstream, or did we actually start it? First time I had heard it was at the Cardiff semi-final, where I'm fairly sure it must have been audible over the TV as well given how loudly it was sung. i've commented a few times on my dislike for it. someone once even tried to make out that on occasion it was used ironically. re cradiff.....that was the first time i heard it and on that occasion it was warranted. shouting it to plymouth and doncaster fans just makes us look like thick twats though.
