  1. I thought he looked handy once he got a foothold. First 20 minutes he was quiet, after that he did okay. He'll be an asset in games where we're the more dominant side. EDIT: What alex said basically.
  2. Funnily enough I was chatting to wor kid today about Hughton and we remarked upon how he was quite good at making substitutions. Even Robson was fucking awful at changing it up (unless he was making a triple change).
  3. This. They were class together in the first half of the Championship season which people tend to forget ( I know, Championship...), but there is certainly potential in the partnership. Decent left back and I'll be happy with the defence for now, although Simpson still worries the s*** out of me. I agree, but about Simpson i'm usually critical against him but tbf to him he was solid today. Say it quietly, but even Raylor looked okay today.
  4. I'm not a huge fan of Taylor's but he was class today. I get the feeling it had something to do with Coloccini getting the armband and consequently being a bit more vocal. He seemed to keep Taylor in check so he didn't fuck off half way up the pitch for no reason and start waving his pissing arms about.
  5. Taylor seemed to step in to break it up I think. Only it seen it once more on replay though. He made an 'elbow' motion the minute that Barton went down towards the ref. He probably had more to do with getting Gervinho sent off than Barton did
  6. sigh What? As I said, if it was a player from the other team people would have gone off it. Sick of him posturing as a moral benchmark on Twitter when he dives and stubs out cigars in peoples eyes. I entirely agree with you, was wonder what afar was sighing about. There's this "Barton gets overly victimised" mentality, but it appears to be going to the other extreme of "look at them picking on Barton". He acted like a grade A t*** today and should deservedly be criticised for it. How about Gervinho or Song, how did they act, why arn't you talking about them ? They were angels. Don't use such idiotic reasoning, man. Why on earth would I be excusing how they acted? It doesn't mean Barton didn't act like a bellend himself. Instead of "OMG LOOK AT BARTON BEING CRITICISED THE PRESS HATE HIM"... maybe he's being criticised because he, er, was an idiot today? Just a thought. If it was any other player there wouldn't be such a hysterical reaction. Sorry, but that's the truth. The press and the fans love a villain and Barton fits that bill.
  7. This, more or less. He did go down easily when Gervinho caught him but then show me a player in the Premier League who wouldn't have in the same situation. Not nice but that's the game nowadays. It was rather needless for him to grapple with Gervinho but given the gamesmanship of Arsenal and the stamp which went unpunished (criminally if you ask me. Having seen the replays I can't believe the officials didn't see it and send Song off) I can understand why he was steaming. Regardless of what went on I just thought it was fantastic to see that level of passion from any player, let alone from a man who is supposedly on his way out on a freebie. And he's right about Big Al. Fantastic player but he's a horrific pundit
  8. The club didn't do one, did they? Barton won the Ronny's award which is the closest thing to official.
  9. I go out for a few drinks and this shit kicks off? Ruddy hell. I'm not getting my hopes up.
  10. More or less. He was right too.
  11. Don't worry, nothing better than walking out to see the pitch first game of the season. Despite everything that has went on, im' proper excited. I'm as negative about the goings on at the club as anyone but I can't fucking wait for tomorrow.
  12. Worra fuckwit. Any problems Enrique had defensively weren't to do with the fact he liked to get forward, they were to do with the fact he liked to play the ball out of defence meaning he sometimes held onto it too long and got tackled in very dangerous positions or played square balls across the box.
  13. http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/nov2008/5/9/D5FED5AB-C970-DCF9-4E8F4CFCF8ED6DC6.jpg HATERZ GONNA HATE
  14. Hope so! I know it's easy to be negative but I would have been surprised if we let him go before the Arsenal game without a replacement. I wouldn't
  15. I hold some ill feeling towards him. He was paid handsomely throughout his time here, had one good season in the Championship, then 6 very good months in the Premiership before his head was turned and he started acting like a prat. The way he practically cut communications with the fans (went from weekly in-depth interviews about the club/players/fans/area/etc to saying f*** all) reaked of agent instructions to maintain radio silence whilst his services were whored out to someone willing to pay him significantly more money. The twitter rant was also pathetic, we let fatty Nolan go and bring in a decent number of players with over half the window remaining and he throws his toys out of the pram. He's a c***, no different to Owen, or Beye, or any other footballer who sold the fans his twaddle then ran as soon as the opportunity arose. I've been calling him a prick/c*** all summer because he turned cold towards the fans as soon as his head was turned, and I'll certainly continue calling him a c*** for as long as he's wearing a Liverpool shirt. I think you need to grow up and come to terms with the fact that footballers leave clubs from time to time. He could've came out and been honest still, instead of lying and saying he was waiting until we were safe. Everyone on here seems to slate Bassong but at least he had the balls to say he wanted out, rather than the likes of Duff and Beye who pledged their loyalty but the weaseled out when the chance arrived. Small point, but he never said that. Just like he never said he wanted to sign for a Champions League club. Said something similar didn't he? Or at least his agent did? Alan "Andy Carroll win not leave"/"We've offered Jose a fantastic deal" Pardew did. About him waiting till we're safe? Aye. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9397088.stm

  17. New Year not a happy time in the Beren household?

  19. One of my favourite matches. It all but confirmed we'd be returning to the top flight, cracking strike from Shola out of nowhere and a Jose goal. Christ, I miss the Championship
  20. How can you hold that against him? In 12 months time Liverpool probably will be.
  21. I hold no ill feeling towards Jose. He was a fantastic player for us and he's shown his class over the past few years. He needs to play for a club that can match his ambition and unfortunately with Ashley in charge we were never going to be that team. Good luck to him.
  22. Didn't he invite a load of lads he met out in Jesmond back to his for a few games of FIFA because he had training the next morning and couldn't stay out drinking with them?
