  1. I'm amazed people are actually surprised by this. It's not as if we made a statement at the end of last season saying we had no money to spend This is a drop in the ocean compared to some of the mistakes he's made. I'm not particularly gutted because my expectations have been lowered so successfully that any talk of him actually joining us seemed slightly fanciful anyway. I'd be happy with anyone of a vaguely attacking mindset signing over the next few weeks.
  2. Nailed on to happen tbh. I doubt it'd have a huge effect on the situation unless Redknapp was actually there to eye him up.
  3. The more I read that quote the more it sounds like an AIDS public information film. No direct sexual contact. No direct sexual contact.
  4. They've bought a lot of players on a wing and a prayer, hoping Bruce can find another Valencia. Apparently Angeleri turned up extremely unfit and has already fell out with Bruce, Riveros and al-Muhammedi look good on an international stage but so did da Silva and Bruce seemingly doesn't rate him after his performances last year. They could go either way.
  5. Someone suggested to me a Bartons 'tache/Monster Mash mashup.
  6. I think the Echo were reporting three loan signings and that's them done. Short seems to be operating a sell to maybe buy policy which isn't surprising considering their wage bill to turnover ratio is the same as ours when Freddy was in charge and we were waiting for financial meltdown. Granted they don't have the debt we did but Short seems to be playing the long game. They took a punt last season on getting into Europe by spending a lot in the summer and it didn't work. Come back down to a more workable level and make small steps.
  7. Some guy at Sky made that up off the cuff and the club denied it within an hour. The thread on the SMB was quite funny - Bruce was a God, selling Jones to get Remy until it was denied then he was a Geordie bassa again
  8. If he has, it's a pretty stupid course of action to take. It makes him look really stupid and out of the loop, especially when EVERYONE else is talking about it being true. I agree, it makes him look a bit daft but in the statement the club were hammering the privacy line so it's not really that surprising. He's denied everything until it's rubber stamped.
  9. Hughton has been told to deny all knowledge, that's pretty clear.
  10. I agree, mental. I know the press make stuff up, but I'd be surprised if Marseille completely invented our interest. Anyway, it was always extremely unlikely, just wait and see what happens. It would be a major error on their part if it was just a tool to up the bids from elsewhere now HBA has decided this is where he wants to be
  11. Aye, his "people are just reading too much into my relationship with Sol" denial would've been more convincing if he didn't sign about three minutes later
  12. Understatement of the century
  13. East Stand full tbh. East Stand dead tbf. Were you expecting a hostile atmosphere? Hope more than expectation.
  14. I'd piss myself if the deal was announced as done within the next few hours and we'd had a dozen pages of worry for fuck all
  15. Can't really blame the club for OM suddenly deciding they want to keep him. I reckon we all need to calm down. There's a lot of 2+2=5 going on. All we know is he wants away from Marseille and seems to only have eyes for the Premier League. He doesn't seem like the type to meekly return to France and toe the party line so who knows what might happen. I'm still relatively confident that a deal will be done but I'm much more concerned that it wont be done in time for Man United. It might happen, it might not. C'est la vie. Exactly. How does the Marseille president saying: "Newcastle are interested but as of today (yesterday), no financial deal has been agreed. We will continue to work with the people of Newcastle and Hatem" = :omg: because, if we had agreed something last week, he could of been our player over the weekend, and because we've allowed negoitations to go for this long, things have changed It's unrealistic to expect any transfer to go that smoothly. if a club wants a player, they can get it done within a day (i.e. transfer deadline day) Totally different situation really. We've got the best part of a month to do a deal.
  16. Raphael Honigstein, who is usually quite accurate when it comes to stuff like this, says talk of any deal with Barca for Ozil is pie in the sky too

We will continue to work with the people of Newcastle and Hatem" = :omg: There's also an assumption that Weder Bremen will go after (and get) HBA now Ozil has buggered off. I doubt he's the only player on there list and even if he is their preferred option he doesn't seem to want to go to Germany. OM are playing funny buggers, which isn't surprising. He's a decent player who could generate a bit of cash if he was sold properly but he clearly doesn't want to be there. Push comes to shove and a more desirable offer hasn't arrived that he'll accept then I think they'll be forced to allow him to come to us. That's all just IMO. I could be very wrong but on the balance of the firm information we have that's how I see it.
  19. Roeder is still watching Kuyt.

  21. To my it looks as if they've got a decent bid for Diang which they'd like to accept but don't want to lose both him and HBA in the space of a week. They know that HBA wants away and are trying to corner us into a full transfer so they can get some cash to buy Luis Fabiano and justify turning down the Diang bid. Just IMO, like.
  22. Are people really getting het up over the thread title? Jesus fucking wept.
