  2. Aye, not that they mean much if a bigger fish comes in though. Surely if there's a contractual agreement in place though? I guess then the player cna just worm his way out of it.. Option to sign is only with the club, not with the player. We can't force someone to join us.
  3. If only we still had Dennis Wise, that statement would be hilarious. http://sniffingtt.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html "Jean, ma' sahn! 'Ave we gorra deal for you!"
  4. Apart from the OTT wages, what is the lure of the Premiership? Some of the world's best players to play with and against, in some of the world's best stadia. The prestige of the league and the adulation players receive is second to none. Even if you don't rate the quality of the football, the lure is obvious. Bollocks. Most the world’s best footballers don’t play in the PL and players don’t make career moves based on the quality of the stadia at away games. They want to go to clubs that can win things, failing that they chase the wonga. As we have no chance of winning anything it must be the money that’s luring him to the EPL. He's playing the long game if you ask me. The Premier League is the most watched sports league on earth, if he comes to us and does well he can make a name for himself and command bigger money moves in the future. The alternatives for him are stay in France or go to Germany, Russia or Portugal. If he does join us and he does pull up trees he'll not be playing for us on 2011/12.
  5. When the club suggested there was little money to spend in the first place, have not confirmed an offer, and have yet to even discuss the player other than to dismiss suggestions that any contact had been made? That's a hell of an angry imagination you have there Chubby. I was not imagining the previous examples I mentioned, along with the fact that the truth about these things usually comes out eventually. I have very little doubt that come September we won't have signed anyone and Ashley or one of his cronies will cite a bid for Ben Arfa that never came off despite the club's best efforts. It's the same every time, I hate to be a cynic but every transfer window under Ashley has been an utter embarrassment and Ashley's spin does nothing but insult the fans' intelligence, I'd love this one to come off but I imagine it almost certainly will not, and it will be the same old story again. I doubt it will come off also, but not because we haven't tried, but because he is either beyond our budget or other teams offered him more professionally or personally. Those other name you mention. How much did WBA pay for Barnes and his 18 month contract? Was it more than West Hams £4m, or our £2m offer? I doubt it. Times change I guess, but we offered what he we felt he was worth, and I think our valuation was probably right. Victor Moses, what did we offer? Not sure that anything was official but was it around £2m again? Seemed a fair offer for the risks involved considering we were still in the Championship. Once a Premiership team came in for him though, in my opinion we didn't stand a chance. In either case, I don't see much evidence of the club trying to dupe its supporters (not that raising and then dashing expectations seems worthy of building a conspiracy around in the first place), just a club trying to be fairly prudent and missing out on some of the deals that make it into the papers. This tbh. I'm a huge critic of Ashley but the idea that almost every bid is smoke and mirrors to build supporters hopes is bollocks. In the past the club have gone about stuff in a less than professional way but a conceited attempt to mislead the fans and look busy? Nah.
  6. Bellamy and Robert were both equally as important for making Shearer a 20+ goal a season striker again.
  7. The even sadder truth is Ashley has done nothing so far to warrant any credit. If he had I and thousands of other fans would be happy.
  8. No mention of Enrique's overlapping runs.
  9. I assume the final dart to the right is where he runs it out of play.
  10. This could have massive implications for the rest of the league. HMRC could and probably will go after every club if the court rules in their favour.
  11. Harper Colo Sol -----------> Taylor ^ | | | | v | | Routledge Barton <----- Enrique ^ Guttierez | | <---- Ben Arfa Nolan | <----- | -------> Carroll -------------> Fucking ridiculous. We all know Carroll can't play on the wing.
  12. Still hate Fat Sam that he sold Parker and brought in Barton. As much as I like Joey, Parker is 3 times the player at the moment. Disagree but then again I am biased. I want to see Scott Parker burn to death in a house fire while pirouetting wildly and being completely unable to go through the door right in front of him because it would require some form of forward movement and we all know he's a crab masquerading as a footballer. This, scott parker is the most one dimensional player i've seen at NUFC, also when he stuck his fingers up at the east stand, that was simply it for him I stick my fingers up at the East Stand most games to be fair I think I just hate Parker because he was everything that was wrong with Souness' type of football. Very little skill on show but he could kick people therefore he's amazing. The amount of attacking moves he broke down by getting on the ball, pulling a funny face and turning to see who was fucking behind him was ridiculous.

  14. Why does every discussion degenerate into people posting ridiculous tactics? We're going to play 442 or 451. Get used to it.
  15. Based on this thread he's the difference between 19th and Champions League football.
  16. I tell you what it's a good job that ginger kid is good at football because there's nee way he's getting a shag if he's not.
  17. It may have been posted elsewhere but here's an interview with Colo from a Depor fansite prior to this evenings match.
  18. I couldn't give a fuck if we won or not, I just need a photo of Barton's tache.
  19. Since it's an annual event does anyone fancy setting up a sweep on which unattainable player from abroad we'll be linked with next preseason?
  20. Just when you think it can't get any better you look past Leon Best to Haris Vuckic
  21. I've no idea why a Mackem would sign up in January and pretend to be French unless his foresight was incredible and he knew this deal was coming
  22. I agree with this. A water carrier type of player would be nice but a striker and attacking CM are much more important. Guthrie is capable of creating stuff but he sits too far back to be a real playmaker, Barton hasn't done it for us so far so I'm not willing to rely on him and wecan't rely on Gosling because of his injury.
