True. The term "fascist" is seen differently by different people as we've seen on here. Wikipaedia has this - "The word fascist is sometimes used to denigrate people, institutions, or groups that would not describe themselves as ideologically fascist, and that may not fall within the formal definition of the word." Thats been my view of the word. Extremist political views, right OR left But that's not how Di Canio using it. He IS using the formal definition when he self identifies as a fascist, not the kind of usage where you call a bus driver a fascist for not changing your fiver.

what does? If you equate fascism with racism. Of course there are lots of aspects of fascism that have nothing to do with race which people take issue with anyway.

It depends if you think the fascist position on nationalism, global expansion and ethnic identity are racist or not, doesn't it.

Just because people tend to call parking wardens or whatever fascists it doesn't mean the dictionary definition becomes just someone who orders you about, man 'Well my neighbour's a Nazi but that could just mean he's very picky about spelling"

Was reading the Celtic forum and they seem deeply divided about Di Canio. Guess it could go either way. And they have it right. DiCanio's got a volatile image. Always going to rile more than he gets adherents I was delighted with his appointment from a purely selfish view as a Newcastle fan. But the OTT response and soap box ranting has amazed me. thankfully, some have been doing the p*ss taking route and slowly that'll take over from the strutting orator types. This is just too good to allow to be bogged down in pompous lecturing. By deeply divided I don't mean they're internally conflicted, I mean that half of them think he's a legend and half of them think he's a Nazi cunt.

DiCanio - just when you didn't think RTG couldn't get any stupider... Actually, Franco was more "stylish" than killing them openly. They just....disappeared. PolPot on the other hand....Leftie fascists. No style. Mountain of skulls time. But I wasn't aware DiCanio was in the process of organizing a red and white army assault with tanks and Russian-made fighters etc. Aren't some of us getting a teensy weensie bit carried away, here ? Fascism is violently opposed to socialism and communism. You seem to be confusing fascism with totalitarianism, which is an aaspect shared by both the extreme right and extreme left. And the difference in body count is ? Actually fascism is just extreme politics. Remember what the Nazis called themselves ? Not "National Fascist Party" but "National SOCIALISTS" But see ? How the f*** is this football ? Its football, but not as we know it, captain ? Lets keep football and politics FAR apart. It's not just a synonym for extreme politics of whichever persuasion, it's a very specific ideology. Have a quick scan of Wikipedia. As for the Nazis, again, you don't seem to understand the difference between socialism and national socialism. Does this mean the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a democracy? It's right there in the name, after all.

Fascism is violently opposed to socialism and communism, along with liberalism and liberal democracy. You seem to be confusing fascism with totalitarianism, which is indeed a policy shared by both the extreme right and extreme left.

Dear me.. To be fair, he's being facetious. He's saying if people are so convinced PDC's fascist views aren't racist, will they be willing to do the fascist salute? Obviously they won't, which forces them to answer the question of why not.

Very mixed reaction to the suggestion a few months ago http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=763970 Sure a few in that thread will have changed their tune. I see our old friend Randy Savage agrees that he's a "fool and a rabid self-publicist." and "No self-respecting club should entertain him" Be interesting to watch the about face... Lots of them slagging him off here as well http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=723984

Wish I could find that thread on RTG after he took charge, about if they would stay humble, unlike the Mags were, and not gloat about their champions league success or whatever. Important to keep your feet on the ground.

This rate every ground in the country's gonna be mentioning Nelson Mandela on the same day as their previously unique event. Serves them right for trying to one-up us. "The Mags have free scarves? We have free Nelson Mandela! FTM."

I just don't really want to think they're a favourite for the drop when they're only 2 points behind us really - makes me uncomfortable about our own position, their current form aside.
