Sounds very familiar to me, apart from the fact Shearer had about 7 games rather than more than half a season. It always crosses my mind that Ashley is preparing this club for UEFA's Financial Fair Play Regulations in mind. (I know it only applies to clubs in European compeitions at the moment.)
