O'Neill's like an Irish Alan Partridge, the amount of nights he's spent cooped up in sunderland hotel rooms.

'elwadio' again, I can assume this bloke has severe mental health problems: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=631477

Cracks me the fuck up that I'd only take O'Shea to take a full back spot right now, yet it'd still be our weakest position that needs replacing. Not sure I'd even stretch to that, Simpson's no world beater but O'Shea looks painfully slow.

For all the fair criticism of our transfer policy, one thing I am definitely in agreement with which I have said before is not using loans to fill key positions. It's a very small time way to put a team together. We used the loan system perfectly in the Championship season, when Hughton brought in several players as short term cover and/or to give us a bit of experience of the division (Harewood, van Aanholt, Fitz Hall). With all the money Bruce has had, to keep building a team around loans is absolutely fucking stupid.
  5. Good luck to Norwich, I like them. They're not great but they've got some decent pacey players in attack who'll cause problems. Lovely simple move for the first goal.

I wouldn't take one of their players for our first XI, and I honestly mean that.

They look really poor indeed. Bruce doesn't seem to implement any sort of game plan whatsoever into the side, he just seems to hope that slinging a load of average mid-table fodder onto the pitch will somehow add up to more than their sum. There can't be many teams slower than the mackems in the entire division as well, there's nothing incisive about them in the slightest. I think certain individual qualities will probably be enough to keep them out of a real relegation battle but Bruce has got to be on thin ice... how can you spend so much money on such an average set of players, and knowingly average as well, not just gambles who've turned out to be that way? Craig Gardner ffs.
  8. Maybe we should do it... "The sportsdirect.com net rippler scored at the sportsdirect.com sign end was scored by Demba ' his mates call him SPORTSDIRECT.COM SENEGAL'S NUMBER 1' Ba brought to you by sportsdirect.com. SPORTS DIRECT DOT COM or something along those lines. Be surprised if it's that subtle tbh.
  9. Something like that, can only hope he's crocked in a few weeks time.
  10. Incredible stat re: Ledley King read out on MOTD2.
  11. I was very confused for a moment there at how Charlie Adam was playing for Liverpool yesterday. They should scrap the rule allowing suspensions to apply in the cups, especially the League Cup ffs.

Wish he'd pulled the trigger when Jonas slid him in.

Nah I disagree, too often a player is impeded but because he doesn't hit the deck, nothing is given.
  14. I don't think money is much of an excuse personally. Our season ticket prices have stayed fairly stable for a long time, and we play far less cup games than we used to. Obviously times are tougher than they were a few years ago, but I don't doubt that the club being run with ambition and less contempt for the supporter would see regular full houses.
  15. Good stuff, the more draws amongst "the rest", the better.
  16. You sound like my Granda when he was alive. Next you'll be talking about how there's so many foul throws, yet they're never given. Well it is true...(my Dad is a stickler for this n all) Me too, it's shocking. I remember England conceding a goal because Ashley Cole, stood on the line, tried to clear it with the outside of his left foot instead of just swinging his right at it. Unbelievable.

Tuncay hardly even got in the Boro team half the time.

I think Stoke get too much stick like, they're like Brazil 1970 compared to Allardyce's Bolton.

I think the trouble with cutting analysis on Match of the Day is that football is so popular and most people who watch it, do so for the goals and little else. It's much more likely to be watched by the casual fan than any other sporting programme is and as a result, stuff on the main channels has to be a bit "lowest common denominator". They still need to discuss the games but it generally ends up being little more than paying lip service. That said, I still really enjoy MOTD, a much bigger problem is when they have the same lazy pundits doing international tournaments and don't know anything about the majority of the teams/players. Most if not all of the ex-players seem to think they can get by on simply having played the game, and some do have more to say than others, but it's now their fucking job to do some research. Alan Shearer would never have gone onto a pitch and given anything less than 100% but he seems more than happy to do it in his new role.
  21. We had just had a corner, so they stayed up when Simpson got the ball. The defending for that goal was staggeringly bad. Both our strikers standing totally unmarked at the back post.
  22. That's the main problem with Taylor at full back, his defending when someone is running at him isn't great but it's not a great deal worse than Simpson's and he can do good things - he made a great goal saving header at the back post when it would have been easy to head it past Krul, think it was just before Yakubu hit the bar - and his offensive capabilities are obvious... but he is the most likely in the team to drop a complete bollock and cost us a goal.
