Kieran Trippier: to join Wolves on a free (various)
Dan Gleebals replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
He will soon be 32, so 2.5 years is fine. Sure there is an option to extend. In any event, if we are doing well and he is still capable, why would we want to let him go and why would he want to leave at 34/5? Contract is irrelevant if he helps achieve our goals. -
Why would you unsettle a current player (Longstaff) as well if there is no way it is happening? Guess Longstaff knows he is leaving/said he wants to leave?

Doubt we will now, they have other players to sign and other shit to sort out. That can all come later. -

Howe's pre match press conference for this game was very good. The guy speaks so well, is calm, measured and makes complete sense. He is also looking very very focussed, more so than before, which can only be a good thing. I have been really impressed with him so far and that only grows each time I see them train or listen to him speak. -
What a stupid c*&@.

100% must win. Not just for survival but this run has been horrific and every next game without a win is compounding the problem massively. Front foot, yes - not that we were against Arsenal - that looked like a return to bruceball for much of it.. He really has to sort this defense out. 5 at the back is a mess. 4-2-3-1 please. Just not sure we have the plays for the "2".... Hayden and Shelvey I suppose. ASM would be the issue in that formation, unless you play him in the central role behind Wilson. I just dont think he works hard enough going back (when played wide), which unfortunately we need at the moment, he lets his man go far to often.

Hope his name is loud in the toon end tomorrow. Deserves to be.

Not sure why, but think 3 points are coming our way tomorrow.

Bigging up the youngsters, speaking positively about them, who would have thought!

As sensible as the loan approach might be, I just don't see the top 6 sides loaning us anyone (from the prem). They were dead against the takeover and are hardly going to lend us players to surive relegation. Buy at an inflated price or piss off will be the most likely scenario. I am sure they will invest, most likely in younger exeptional talen that will be less concerned about a year in the championship (should that happen). If we can cut the gap and get back into the bottom half of the table, or look like we could, I think they will spend big. if we are still 6 ploints off going into the transfer window, I am not so sure. We are hardly going to attract top players then anyway.
-
Under Bruce it was a firm 10. Under Howe, more of a 50:50 chance, better if Jan is kind to us in terms of transfers. 5 or a 6

Sure our new owners will have a few dodgy links somewhere ?
-
Even more stagggering that the so called professionals in the game, particularly his old mates in the media, would say he did a great job - when it was completely obvious it was anything but.

JT looks like he is about to kill someone

Penfold next please

Agree. Get him up to speed and he offers a lot more that Shelvey, especially as Shelvey cannot run.

What a load of bollocks that is. I never had any time for Gerrard, mainly because he always destroyed us and he played for Liverpool. However, you had to admire what he achieved as a player and he will probably make a decent manager. He has had a reasonable start with Rangers, but he is by no means the finished article. Much happier with Howe, on a number of levels.

Did he say how the first couple of days have been, response from players etc?
-
Doubt it, they wil save that for another feel good day, surely!!

Great statement from him on day one. First in, last out and he clearly has a plan, and has got straight down to it. The thing that I like, is that he has had some proper time out, and he is clearly not the type that would have been sat onbthe beach. He will have used that time well, learning and developing his ideas, and learning from the past. It is clear his is going to galvanise the fans with his work ethic, and hopefully the players too. Some will not be able to handle it, but thats good. Time for serious change and I am pretty confident he can deliver it.
