I think AP's comments about us not taking this seriously are deisgned to take the pressure of the "development" players in the team. I am pretty sure he is looking to give these players the chance to develop away from home, bringing in more expereinced players if required at home. Lets say we get though the group phase and in the 1/4 final - you think he wont field our strongest team then given the chance? Of course he will. Silverware is important and IMO at the moment, I dont care which cup it is.

I dont think the knee issue is really relevant any more. He has been fine (touch wood) for his entire time here. He seems a genuine lad, it just seems (like most players these days) to be surrounded by a bunch of money grabbing wankers who keep filtering this shit into the media. We allowed the clause in his contract so there is hardly any point AP going on about it all the time and basically inviting people to come in for him. Both parties should shut the fuck up, try and find a mutually agreeable contract (in private) and get on with the important stuff.

The reason Cisse did not have a great first half was not all his own doing. Played the line alone, trying to latch onto hopeless long balls. He needed support against 2 good solid defenders. Pardew rightly said we were rubbish in the first half but I think he has to accept responsibility for that. Tactics were not good at all, team looked unbalanced and to give him some credit I guess, the players really did not respond well to the formation. Take nothing away from Everton - they were pretty impressive in the first half, Baines in partlicular. Hopefully a lesson or two learnt tonight and the morale off the back of this result, might just kick start our season. We really should be going all out for 6 points in the next two league games and you could then argue, that the dropped two points against Villa aside, we are where we thought we would have been.
