    I'd be amazed if there is anyone willing so spend that much, in the current economic climate.
  2. Has it been uploaded anywhere, fellas?
  3. I'm no fan of Wraith, but at least he does something whilst others are content to sit and whinge, whilst doing nout. If anyone goes to the meeting tonight - I would love some feedback of what is said and if possible - could someone record it as was done 3/4 years ago? Work beckons for me, otherwise I would have gone.
  4. Not good, slagging off Shearer. We were as good as down, when he took over thanks to the shambles created by Ashley and Kinnear. Kinnear is a cunt and should really keep his gob shut from now on, but I think that's too much to expect.
  5. Not sure if this has been posted yet;
  6. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-joe-kinnear-drove-derek-1967425? Newcastle's Derek Llambias quit after Joe Kinnear pulled the plug on Douglas transfer 19 Jun 2013 22:32 New director of football had never heard of FC Twente defender. Who has played in Champions League. And been in Holland squad Who he? Kinnear didn't know Douglas from Adam Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias quit in a row over a player to become the first victim of Joe Kinnear's controversial reign. The Mirror can reveal Llambias resigned just hours after being forced to pull the plug on signing FC Twente defender Douglas. Kinnear, appointed as director of football on Tuesday, claimed he had never heard of the Brazilian player. Now, the Magpies' highly-respected chief scout Graham Carr could be the next to go. It is believed Carr is considering his future after being told he must report to Kinnear. Llambias is understood to have spent months lining up a Bosman-style free transfer for 25-year-old centre-half Douglas, who was linked with Newcastle as far back as last summer, and a deal was in place. But Llambias - called "Llambezee" by Kinnear in one of the radio interviews carried out to mark the former Toon manager's return to St James' Park in a new role - did a sudden U-turn on Tuesday night and was forced to tell Douglas that the deal was off following Kinnear's intervention. Kinnear - whose appointment has caused astonishment - sounded out former FC Twente boss Steve McClaren, because he was not aware of Douglas. This even though the player has been at one of Holland's leading clubs for six years, turning out for them in the Champions League against teams such as Inter Milan and Tottenham and as they reached the last eight of the Europa League in 2010-11. Hours later, Llambias offered his resignation. It is clear he did not feel he could carry on working under Kinnear. Llambias was one of manager Alan Pardew's big supporters and backed him when owner Mike Ashley became concerned last season as Newcastle flirted with relegation. Carr is Newcastle's ace talent spotter and has been responsible for unearthing some of their most successful signings, but Kinnear has insisted he now is in charge of transfers.
  7. I'm kind of not surprised to see Llambias go - but it's still a shock. I think Pardew will walk next and in the coming days. He's been very quiet and I imagine is seeking legal advice. It's Keegan v Wise all over again (although not to the same extent) Ashley must be laughing his tits off.
  8. I think you'll find, BG, that the fans over 45 will be the ones most likely to boycott - a large proportion have witnessed both bad and good times before SJH and KK took over the club and then afterwards. A large percentage of younger fans will not remember those days and in any case, Ashley has been very successful in brainwashing quite a few fans into thinking a mid-table place is where we should be - no better. It has always been this way really, because fans who went in the 50s when we were FA Cup kings stopped going after the shenanigans with Eastham etc at the start of the 60s and the usual board interference at that time. Noticeable that many of those posting in the Chron and Journal, vowing to scrap their STs, were older fans. Agreed. Like you, I lived through the 'board wars' and when I speak to others (particularly the younger supporters) about the danger we have found ourselves in during Ashley's tenure, I get called a Keeganite and an old fuddy-duddy. They will find out the hard way.
  9. I imagine Pardew will be seeking legal advice, hence nothing from him over the last couple of days.

  11. I think if anything is going to happen worthwhile in terms of a protest, it's imperative that the local media (papers, TV and radio) are onside with it too. Surely none of them can pander to the club after this latest one? Ashley needs the local press - even if it may not seem so.
  12. The post that was quoted was rough around the edges, but the content was correct. Ashley knows people will turn up regardless, which is why he pleases himself. A bigger message would be if people started staying away from games, but unfortunately I think there is too much apathy inside St James. In that people will be unhappy, but won't vent their displeasure - probably for fear of what happened at the Hull game, after Keegan walked. Civil war almost broke out amongst our ranks after that game. Could always be that Ashley has worn people down and that the more vocal (in the main) are the ones who don't go to games, such as myself.
  13. I'd be interested, but am at work. These things always bloody happen when I can't get.
  14. Thanks. Was at work last night, so missed most of what went on then.
  15. I removed the link after having 2nd thoughts - might have linked to some 'Frankie Vaughan'. Obviously wasn't quick enough! *apologies:
  16. It's another desperate time, and I've just caught up with his interview on TS this morning. Suffice to say I won't be putting any more cash into Newcastle - only got to a couple of home games last season, but I still bought from the club shop for me and the bairn. Won't be doing that any more. Also cancelled my Sky Sports subs a few weeks ago and that looks to be a good choice. I will make do with 'other means' next season. Ashley still intent on ripping the heart and soul out of Newcastle United - and the appointment of this clown is the latest 'masterstroke'. I mean, why appoint him?
  17. Already the new campaign is well placed to end in disaster and it's two months before a ball is kicked. Question is as to why this has been done, other than Ashley appointing another of his friend's and once again, doing it to spite the fans and show them who is boss? It's madness, it's football, it's Newcastle United - as someone once said.
  18. reckon this shows a couple of things. The the ambition of the club under Ashley is to maintain PL status on the cheap - forget about an FA or League Cup run, or challenging for Europe. It's about staying in the PL, spending as little as possible, whilst peddling our better players when money comes a-knocking. This will enable Ashley to claw back what he is owed, asap (owed as in the loan he had to pay off, when buying the club - he didn't know as he hadn't done due diligence) With the TV revenue now going up, this could still take a few years so he's not going to go anywhere soon unless some rich Arab or Oligarch takes a fancy to us. Also, he has a manger in waiting (and a cheap option) if Pardew gets hacked off or fails. Welcome to accepting the world of Mike Ashley's mediocrity inspired Newcastle United future.
  19. Thought this worth re-sharing; *not work or kids safe*
  20. An astoundingly bad move from Ashley if this turns out to be true. Shows that Pardew is not trusted and that Kinnear is being brought in to carry on with Ashley's bidding. Anyone also notice this has come out with the season ticket deadline has PASSED? Can see this being the final straw for many.
  21. Wish him all the best for the future. Done a decent job for us.
