Desperately need some pace in the side - Lovenkrands has to start upfront with Carroll. The biggest problem though is the wide areas - Ryan Taylor isn't quick and Barton is no left-sided midfielder either. Square pegs in round holes again. We could do with a couple of loan signings in too. Won't hold my breath though - Ashley won't OK any deals.

Okay, it appears everyone has quickly forgotten how inept this guy is. We'll give it another couple of weeks. I watched enough of this guy last season to know that as long as he is in the team the losses will pile up. We shall see. I've never said that he'd be my first name on the team sheet. For me, he is back up and he probably accepts that. Doesn't mean he should be made a scapegoat for tonight's 'performance' when 4 other midfielders hardly covered themselves in glory either.
