He said: "The referee needs to make sure he referees the game from a completely neutral point of view because Joey has been in the press a fair bit this week - more than Joey would have liked and more than I would like - and I'm sure he'll get a mention in Sunderland's game plan. "He's a very, very good player and they'll need to stop him but I've got no qualms about throwing Joey in there, no doubts at all. But the referee will need to be astute." Reading between the lines he's basically saying all referees are cunts and in the pay of Far Eastern betting syndicates. Disgraceful tbh.

L'Equipe: Modibo Maiga fails medical; transfer 'abandoned'
BottledDog replied to a topic in Football
Yup. Hardly emphatic. -
Leg has fallen off. Which one? As long as it's not the left one he should still be able to play some part. Middle one. That'll do. High Five o/'ll be pissed though. Allez!

Football in pubs: North East pubs facing foreign channel crackdown

Not a peep. -
A very ham fisted bit of 'journalism' stating fantastical nonsense as fact imho. Check over the last few pages for a bit more depth/alternative views.

Hammy.

If I recall correctly Robson said something not too dissimilar when discussing Bellamy and/or Roberts. When did we have Jason Roberts? Fair point. Edited.

If I recall correctly Robson said something not too dissimilar when discussing Bellamy and/or Robert. Every player quoted (the latest being Best, after saying he can be a nightmare when he doesn't get to play) has had good words to say about Pardew, including those that have left like Barton. That he talks to players individually, puts an arm round when needed, and is an very good man manager to the first team and the kids breaking through. Lets just leave the 'fucking retarded' comments out without context or evidence of harm, and while in fact the team and individual players are clearly fighting for him, the club, and each other on the pitch.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll looking about 12 mugging the camera in the crowds entering SJP. -
this makes more sense to me than anything else i've ever heard about ashley's motives for buying the club Eh, how does that make any sense whatsoever? how doesn't it ffs? it explains the first 2 or so years of utter ineptitude and chaos if he was trying to deal with something he never really planned on having very long, then once the realisation dawned on him he was stuck with it he started trying to get a handle on things which he's doing now in his own style suppose it depends how quickly he intended to move it on and when any possible deal fell apart, within a few months he'd sacked allardyce and brought back king kev against all the odds etc. which might have been intended to raise the appeal of the club Ok, explain this scenario to me. I can't imagine anyone buying a football club they didn't want, take all the risk by not even fully checking the books, because they thought they had someone lined up to buy it off them at an inflated price. Who on earth is this buyer who has said "Mike, I'd like to buy Newcastle, but I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, can you just go and pay for it and I'll take it off your hands plus give you a handsome profit on it once this cheque from Nigeria clears next Tuesday"? Edit: Aye, and what Chez said.

How on earth did you find that. Brilliant. /Looks a fun show too. Bookmarked in case they start suplying subtitles. -
Feck me, Pardew can be a complete dickhead at times. I'm sure he was deadly serious when he said that like.
-
Don't know if Pardew really said this, or it's the Star putting a spin on his Mail quotes, but I'd fkn love him even more if he did. AL DRINK TO HATEM BEN ARFA! NEWCASTLE boss Alan Pardew has labelled comeback kid Hatem Ben Arfa his “Heineken player” – because he scales heights others can’t reach. “He can reach heights that other players can’t reach – the Heineken player if you like.” http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/211903/Al-drink-to-Hatem-Ben-Arfa-/?

This as well. Surely sales in the North East are affected by people who 'boycott' Sports Direct? For every person who boycotts Sports Direct.... there are 2 mackems.

Bad craic that if your not blocking anyone. Might be a chance they'll calm down again after the obligatory early season clampdown.

I think he's very middle of the road with it. Sometimes he seems to do it, other times will persevere with a player. He's not spectacularly stubborn, nor spectacularly ruthless. Again, on past form, Pardew is pretty good at switching out senior players like Shola (just last week), Smith, Lovenkrands, Harper etc while publicly backing them. I have no doubt that if Santon is fit and looking good in training, Raylor will be out on his arse, whatever praise he rightly gets at present. But that's the point, Pardew can't yet talk to the lad without a translator, has barely seen him in the flesh, and has only witnessed a few days training before his knee knack and 70mins of a reserve match (whey actually it was only Carver that attended that one). Based on that, it's not difficult to understand Pardews honesty in saying that Santon would not necessarily have been an automatic starter in the team, and a back 4 that despite Raylors limitations is functioning pretty well, had it not been for his injury.

More lies from Ashley. They're making moves into Europe, not the Far East. I wonder what the only other group interested, the Malaysians, wanted us for? Probably using the club to increase the win percentages of their betting syndicate knowing our luck.

Went to a place just off Park Lane a couple of years back where the Landlord was supposed to be from Newcastle and they showed as many games as they could, pretty decent turn out as well. I'm sure it wasn't the Cock and Bull though, was stuck on a corner of some back street. EDIT: Balls, found it. It was the Barley Mow on Dukes street. Must have been more that a couple of years ago, changed into a bog standard pub in 2007 apparently.

I'd bring him on as a sub. Say give him the last half an hour. Will you sub him off again when extra time kicks in? POW And thats why he must start So start him and sub him off at half time = 45min Bring him on for the last 30min and extra time = 60min Not much difference tbh. It's not about times on the pitch, the difference if he starts is that if the game is not right for him or he unexpectedly starts to tire you can then easily take him off. If you bring him on for the last half hour or so then there is a considerable chance that he'll be forced to play extra time despite flagging, which I isn't something I'd like to risk.
