West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
BottledDog replied to Pilko's topic in Football
It's a choice of who you believe, the board or Andy Carroll, only one version of events is true. How any one can believe the board is beyond me. http://nufc-ashlies.blogspot.com/ Regarding those two quotes you have again repeated in this thread without context. The first is not even a quote from the tribunal, but from Keegan. The second relates only to the clubs claims that the reason it put out conflicting statements in public regarding him having the final say on trasfers was so as to not undermine him. I don't think the tribunal ever got to the bottom of their actual reasoning, in the end simply concluding that the explanation itself was 'profoundly unsatisfactory'. No reason to exaggerate or misrepresent the findings, when the findings themselves are damning enough. -
Why? Because diplomatically (which the club has to be) there is not a lot they can say other than what people expect? In no particular order, these answers should pretty much cover most of the questions. 'Obviously a good deal of money has been reinvested already, but the money we have set aside for the right player is still there' 'We are as disappointed (and the manager is disappointed) as everyone else that we didn't get the striker we'd hoped for' 'Nobody lied, we genuinely believed we could get our man, but circumstances changed and we had to accept that' 'Every player at every club has his price and every player that has left chose to leave' 'We have laid down a policy that will increasingly be able to compete financially with other, even larger clubs' 'We have not and cannot change our policy on standing as the law itself has not changed' 'Communication has been complicated by failures in the past and we felt it was best to focus on the team and let the managers communicate where necessary, we may review this decision if we feel it would be welcomed' All pretty fair given the limitations of what can reasonably be said, yet no doubt there will still be much gnashing of teeth and an overall feeling that the words were worse than regurgitated shit recently deposited by Ashley down Llambias' neck.

So you'd rather not believe him (direct quotesare available to be found)over a regime proven in court to deliberately mislead and lie to the fans and it's management? Sup Mike Care to find them? -
You'd have to trust that he is I'd have thought. Our scouts and negotiating team haven't been chasing him half the summer just for the shits and giggles.
-
Really, how so? His career record is bordering on being pretty damn good imho.
-
That will 100% happen. 100% it wont happen. It could have easily happened when Ashley took over but there's a reason it hasn't. Aye, the contract with Northen Rock Hasn't that deal been resigned in his time here? When the Puma deal was agreed? The point being that Ashley could not have changed the shirt sponsorship when he took over. Him not doing that then is therefore not an argument for him not doing it next season. Neither is the previous extension of the NR deal an indication of whether it's under discussion for next season. The fact that the deal Ashley signed a year ago still has 3 seasons to run (including this one) is a pretty substantial argument for him not doing it next season like.

Where did they say that they were putting the lettering back up? Someone on here phoned the club, and a secretary (or similar) said it - they'd had loads of calls about it apparently. The 'official' line was that it was being 'replaced with identical, but couldn't confirm or deny if it would incorporate advertising'. Doesn't sound very official to me, just sounds like the usual no nowt avoidance patter the box office give out whenever I press them on something to be fair. We'll see.

Sorry, missed this, when did they say that?

Nowt to do with wage (or ambition Rich). He has the same agent as Cissokho. Once we moved our attention to Santon, Situ was a no go. What? What, what? Cissokhos agent moved his client elsewhere after our abortive dealings with Cissokho. Where's this from them? You've found out they have the same agents and just come up with a theory? Nope Douglas did. Well, stated they had the same agent at least, then strongly hinted the rest. The timings make sense, and there was no impression that we were the ones who had the cold feet.

"Ambition" was simply me using the buzzword of the time, I had no idea why he had ended up at Swansea instead of us. Quite disappointed. Fair enough mate. Me too. Not only because he is FMtastic, but he's at the right age you'd think to be being fairly close to be regarded as backup to the first team, if he was actually any good.

Wow. You better hide mate. Good post dazzanufc1892, very disappointed we have failed to bring in a striker, but I'd like to think we are in a position to do so if the right player comes along. As it stands we have created a squad that is good enough to win games, if we can get a striker that fits us in January then we could still have a cracking season. As I say, to have the number 9 still sitting on a peg is ridiculous and deserves criticism, but in the scheme of things I'm happy with what we are trying to do, have faith in the team we are building, and am not pessimistic about the clubs prospects moving forward.

Oh man, I'm really starting to love Neil. Top bombing sir.

Possibly not the best time to post this thread.

Not sure you quite understand what an optimist is. Chin up, move on, enjoy what's there, expect good things. You're the one who seems to be stuck in a perpetual hell. Enjoy...

You are just fucking precious.
