  1. Why is he a great keeper if he has many flaws & faults? You saying he hasn't?
  2. Double figures, see you later. Get Ben Foster in for peanuts since his contract is running out. Given's a great keeper, but has so many flaws and faults, and at 32 double figures in such a weird economical climate is good business. Trying to look at the very small positives here. Also a player who wants to go is never best kept at a club, especially a keeper.
  3. If a 1st team player wants to go its pointless to keep him against his will, it's especially suicidal if he's a keeper. £10m in the winter window would be about right imo since Given's just about to peak.
  4. Is Osama Bin Laden really hiding in your basement?
  5. Good point. We should be sticking with Kinnear through thick and thin then? I think Kinnear for the last 4 seasons would have been better than Souness/Roeder/Allardyce/Keegan/Kinnear. Probably right. Unfortunately i really reckon so. TT, you're right. The past few years haven't been Keegan managing Keegan's team, and Allardyce managing Allardyce's team. There hasn't been a manager since Bobby who has been able to build their squad and team. They've all come and go so quickly. Kinnear isn't managing his team, he's managing a combination of Roeder's, Allardyce's, Keegan's etc. He wouldn't pick these players. Just look at today's lineup: Given - Dalglish Edgar - Bobby Taylor - Bobby Colocinni - Keegan Enrique - Allardyce Jonas - Keegan Butt - Bobby Guthrie - Keegan N'Zogbia - Bobby Owen - Souness Duff - Roeder Ridiculous that really. Hammers home the real mess everyone with any power at the club has made over the past few seasons, undoing everything SBR worked so hard to build. We are the biggest joke in the Premiership, without a doubt.

  8. Who's fuking team is it anyway? And therein lies the problem, we've had more managers than Kerry Katona's had prawn rings and more footballers through our doors than Daniel Lloyd's bedroom.
  9. Shit results from a shit team playing for a shit club, should we expect better? No. Should we live with it? We've got no choice, there's nothing a single one of us can do about it. Merry xmas and a happy new year.
  10. We've just thrown a stone at a hornets nest. Lets hope we bring out fire in the 2nd half.
  11. Depends how much they (Liverpool) want it. We're just bending over and taking it. 10 men getting raped, that's all this is about today.
  12. Really we need to give Given the ball and let him run through the middle of the pitch taking on the whole Liverpool team. Well can anyone else think of a way we'll win?
  13. The spuds are after Bellamy?
  14. Seriously, if he backed his man, invested in the squad and we moved in the right direction I can't see how anyone could have issues. :| Just some good-old spending of cash in January then? Because the (un)willingness to back his man in whatever way is exactly what caused the problems with Keegan, or so it seems. You say it like its a regular occurrence.

    Kinnear Out

And the two games where we were defeated by one goal, one was a free-kick and the other a penalty. If only his name was Kevin Keegan...

    Owen's replacement

Id love that but i actully think they're the hardest type of players to sign, they;re arguably the most talent and gifted players on the pitch because they're game is so natural and cerebral. I actually think the Martins Owen combination was working ok, i was surpirsed at how different they games actually are and how little they actually take the same positions. The balance still isnt right becasue with them we are missing 2 things, aerial ability and a decent hold up and link up play. The bit in bold i agree with massively. It's unfortunately where Viduka comes in, unfortunately we need to rely on his fitness, not ability (not in question) if he were fit every game and could last 90mins each time, then as we've seen its lethal. Maybe we really missed a trick with Baptista, strong, technical, good shot, grafter, relatively injury free, could have filled the Viduka role in a 433 or 442 then even dropped back as the attacking mid running with the ball at players, extra threat at corners (and protection) and link up with chosen strikers upfront. I'd be quite happy if we didn't directly replaced Owen an brought in a Diego style (not him, too famous now, but a copycat version direct from Brazil) the balanced the team properly with a reliable Viduka replacement, i personally was hoping Xisco was up to the job, you never know, his talent lies in the future rather than the now, but totally wasted atm doing nothing.

    Owen's replacement

We can replace Owen in different ways imo. He provides goals, but so do other types of players. I think a goalscoring attacking mid for the £10m mark with any half decent target man to play for him and Martins would be even better than Owen staying. Two little men never work correctly unless they are both supreme, lets play on Martins pace with intelligence and technique in a big frame and we'd have the best balance upfront since Shearer & Bellamy. Losing Owen can just be a change in direction rather than the end of something.
  18. I prefer standing at matches... For about 5 mins, then me knees start to think fuk it, there's a seat right below me, then my brain goes...good idea knees, lead the way.
  19. As Nixon (steward at SJP) said last week the stewards have been TUPE across to firm called Phoenix-Eye. Phoenix-Eye also look after events at Newcastle Racecourse, which used to be the place Operations Director at Newcastle United David Williamson worked. David Williamson is quoted on the Phoenix-Eye website endorsing PE. Now the bit where the doormen come in is Phoenix-Eye sister company is Phoenix-Security. The P-S staff have been working at Shearers since it opened. Dont cry if your "bring back the noise" seats last for 1 season only. http://www.ghostfairy.com/pk014.JPG
