KEV'S BIG DEAL BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE Kevin Keegan is ready to sign Hamburg's giant Cameroon left-back Thimothee Atouba. The former Tottenham defender is available at a bargain price and wants to return to the Premier League from Germany, where he is playing for Martin Jol again. Atouba had a mixed time at Spurs, where Jol often chopped and changed him, and hewould jump at a move to Tyneside. Keegan is looking for a left-back and has homed in on 6ft 3in Atouba, 26, after Toon's transfer negotiators failed to land Steven Warnock from Blackburn. Rovers would want well over £6million despite the sustained efforts of wheelerdealer Dennis Wise to broker the move. Keegan is puzzled by attempts to set up swap deals for Warnock so will push the Atouba option hard. Harper hit form because he had a run of games, something he rarely gets. Because he's not that good, and Given is clearly the better keeper and Harper the understudy.

The difference is minimal when both are fit and both have had a few games, the bit in bold is stupid. No it's not. There's a gulf in talent. Harper is average, Given is a very good goalkeeper.

madness, very harsh on Harper Harper is an average goalkeeper who hit some form for once in his life while Given was suffering the worst period of his career. I'm glad we got both, but i wouldn't lose any sleep if we sold Harper.

Hoping we can get Tiago & Saviola on loan, then look at a replacement for Faye (Burdisso) and competition for Enrique (Warnock) If we can get that were laughing, if we could bring in Derdiyok as well then the summer has been a success.

Given all day anyday. Never had any other opinion, the guy is in a different league to Harper, only Given on his worst form can compare to Harper on his best.

Certainly agree with most of that, just not the player. I've said a couple of times on here, the fact is we were ready to spend big on a talented attacking central midfielder in Modric. I don't see why we'll just be dropping that idea. They said the money is there for the right player so I won't be shocked if they don't spend it, I doubt keegan or Ashley will be happy with just spending money for the sake of it. Yes, we were about to spend that on Modric (so more reason to think that plan of an exciting AMC is still knocking about) and maybe spending that on Arshavin is just buying for buyings sake. Diego it is then.

He could flop, Modric was the one really, shame. Just have a feeling there's a big player coming in, an attacking player which will spark the team, the reason were clearing the decks as much as we can, to support a big coup without straining the club too much. I'm saying Arshavin since he's the most likely player that is the type im thinking about to be moving soon. It might not be him, it might just be blind optimism (something not usually associated with me) but have a feeling our biggest signing of the summer is yet to come.

If he'd join i'd offer £20m for him and build our whole squad around him for the next 10 years. Quite a statement after 20 minutes against West Brom. The 20 odd games for Arsenal mean fuk all do they? All in which he's been solid at the least for his age.
