I know! He's just got this idea of him fixed in his head, and that's that. That's Dad's for you.

Adopt an orphan everytime he scores of course.

Cunt, turned over the the Arsenal match.

His loan spell at Preston has really had an effect it seems. Its made him determined not to be a Championship player and to take his chance (if he's ever given it) with the club he loves. Don't know why he bothers though, after doing the hard part and breaking through he'll be either thrown to the side by us or the fan will drive him out.

Quite right you're not, but I think what has really annoyed most people about the Alliediere incident is that Mascherano received no punishment for grabbing a player in the face. The Lampard/Boa Morte incident was handbags tbh although both players could well have been punished for kicking out at each other whilct on the ground. JM not getting anything is silly, i said when it happened Boro should have appealed against him not receiving punishment rather than appealing against their own sending off.

You are not allowed to hit players in the face, simple as that. Lampard's shouldn't of been a red, JA should have and is, only JM should have received one too.

Kevin Keegan believes his inability to sign new players has been his biggest problem since returning to Newcastle. When Keegan first took charge of the club in 1992, he was not restricted to transfer windows in the summer and January to bolster his squad. The former England boss has struggled to get performances out of the squad he inherited from Sam Allardyce, and he feels the change in transfer rules has been the major stumbling block this time around. "The biggest change from that situation to this was that I could buy players then," he told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle."If I thought there was a problem somewhere, I could do something and improve the squad. "This time, we have got what we've got, and it's slightly different in that respect." Jigsaw And Keegan believes the signing of Brian Kilcline in 1992 was like finding 'a vital piece of the jigsaw'. "I brought in Brian Kilcline to lift the dressing room because I felt we needed a character like that. "He wasn't my greatest signing, but he was probably the most important. On the pitch, sometimes he cost us games, but around the club he built it up. "He knew it wasn't a long-term signing when he came, but he was a vital piece of the jigsaw to start us off - it was like finding an edge piece."

They are saying Hicks rejects DIC.
-
SSn's reckon today is the day something will happen with Liverpool DIC have tabled an offer and told the yanks take it or leave it by the end of the day. The yanks would walk away with making £25m for a years 'work' But there's the consent issue and Hicks is dragging his heels and rumours are the hated one wants to buy Gillette out and have the club from himself.

I believe none of these Scottish links, especially from the Glasgow clubs. The papers are doing their magic, KK been hiding in Scotland, so all he can know is Scottish players, he must want half the Celtic team. I also think Celtic are desperate for money. After seeing Rangers fleece the spuds for £9m, they want a bit of it and are probably themselves releasing these rumours to drum up interest in their bog standard players.

Its the games that are killing me.
-
Its a shame Barton isn't around, we could have done with him to kick the shit out of them, none of them would want to play and risk an injury.
-
Would be great to get a draw, can't see anything but a kicking though.
-
SBR once said, we cannot afford or attract ready made players so we must go out and find those that are turning into them and get them in early and finish them off ourselves. That's my opinion of where we should be heading, and always head.

Bent hardly gets a game at Spurs Ashton hardly starts at West Ham Young could turn out canny. All mini Shola's if you ask me. Bent would get a game here, and would be quite decent. Ashton's been unlucky with injury, no doubting his talent. You'd take him for £2m wouldn't you? Young could be a real £20m+ class act. Barnes i expect not to have the impact as Young, due to him not have the same pace, but i think he's an intelligent player and would be a creative outlet and something we could really do with.

I thought he was worth that in the Championship last season, now they are in the prem, in the winter window £4m is nowt. What English talent with potential can you get for £4m? Prices are crazy these days, £4m is nothing really, couldn't even pay Owen for a year. Broken a foot since then and only started 11 games this season. Wouldn't be so much against a pay as you play deal like. We've been a real soft touch on transfers though. In the past we have, we've made some right howlers, but we've also missed out when other clubs have taken a chance. Darren Bent? We wouldn't pay £2m for him. I remember this place laughing their tits off at SBR for wanting him, and taking the piss out of him that he can only sign players from Ipswich. Charlton did the season after for £5m or so and people thought they were mad, bargain at that price. Dean Ashton was another £2m player we didn't take the risk on. Season later Norwich did for £3m, again another bargain. And my fav miss out Ashley Young. Again in Watford's promo season a £4m would have taken him to our club, we again missed out, i'm not sure if we even scouted this one, we should have, it makes you wonder what our scouts get paid to do. (again talent was obvious, i remember having some in depth discussion with Gejon about him over and over, we could both see the talent) Barnes is the next one for me to be missed out on. Whoever takes the chance, probably WHU, will get a bargain. Derby won't hang on to him when they go down, but there will be a lot of interest at the end of the season for him, i just hope if its not us he's not going to be another £10m+ English player we missed out on. I'd rather take a chance on young English talent than bring expensive players from the continent who simply couldn't care less about the club or even know a thing about it. Those are the real gambles, and those are the ones that very rarely pay off for us.

Nice to have someone on the bench? Like i said, Barnes is being used as an example as we know it was close to happening as it went public. I could pick random names out of the hat but that would be a bit pointless. So you agree, no-one we could've realistically signed would have improved the team in the immediate future. Again i never said that. Unless we only went for or looked at Barnes the entire window, then i'd have even more issues with the situation than i do now. I'm simply saying i'm not going to guess targets, there's plenty of players out there that would improve the squad and we could have got realistically had we stumped up some serious cash, but that would be very FM of me.

Seems to me people want to whine about the situation for the sake of whining. Since Keegan arrived there's been a drastic improvement in tactics, performances and passion. People whining have no suggestions who we should have signed . The people we approached goes to show how loathe players are to come. If you blame Keegan and the fortnight he had with an open window when he arrived for our current position rather than Allardyce and the 8 months he took to build the most tepid team I've seen at St James', you're a moron. I'm not though am i? You are one fuked up muppet today. erm, yeah, you are.... I'm not blaming KK for the current situation of the club, i'm asking why no one was signed to help stay away from a relegation fight. We are in a relegation fight, we didn't sign anyone to help us out, if we did we would stand a better chance, unless we simply cannot trust KK to find quality players that is. I do think there has been marginal improvements no matter what the stats say, but those games at home against beatable teams could have turned into wins with new players as we know its going to be tough with the current crop. Even KK himself said the club needed a boost from signing a player or two, his words not mine, i agree with them, you don't. We'll have to agree to disagree. Our record of signing players is so bad that people on here advocate selling every memeber of the squad and starting from scratch. I think we've done exactly the right thing (the only option left open really) taking an enforced step back, given that the quality players we were chasing turned us down. Take stock of who fights to get us out of this and who doesn't step up, then rebuild on that next season. You don't blame Keegan but ask why no-one was signed. It's simply that the players he went after wouldn't come. Can't we accept that and move on? If you want, but Barnes for £4m would have come. Is it KK's fault we didn't up the bid or the board? This is a public example, and why its being used, what about other bids we went in for, did we stay cheap, did KK not trust himself? Whatever, its certainly had a negative effect on the remainder of the season, signings would have helped KK out, and i think spending £10m or so on a couple of decent attacking mids would have seen us take at leas 4 more points in the games already played and looking at a much rosier seasons end.

Did I? Touché. Why else are you arguing about him then? I'm not arguing about anything. Just putting peoples stupid ideas about him in to touch. Knocking a young lad for scoring only one goal in the league, when £60m+ worth of Manu talent can't do any better is fuking thick imo. Barnes getting NUFC grief and he hasn't even become a toon player, its just amazing, it really is. People aren't knocking him for being a young lad, they're knocking him because he's been brought up in this thread as someone we should have signed. i think he was actually brought up as one of the two players we know we bid for, therefore it's safe to assume we wanted to sign him there are obviously better midfielders throughout europe and the world, he's just the one we know keegan asked for Which is a fair point. KK thought he saw something in him, but for some reason we offered daft money, and guess what, its was greeted with a big KO. Some defended the club by saying we were going for him on the cheap and would go back, but we didn't. I just do not get what's going on with that one, which makes the Barnes situation even more bitter for myself. He should have and could have been ours for relatively cheap money. It cost twice as much to sack SA FFS. i've not seen that much of barnes but the parrells with dyer work on almost every level...when we paid 6m for dyer all those years ago he'd only played in the first division but excelled there, same as barnes, and there's nothing to suggest he'd not have struggled with ipswich when they were promoted a la barnes we thought 6m on a fast, young player with potential was worth it then, why not now? They only wanted £4m IIRC. We bid £2m He's worth £4m anyday, its not a risk, he's 19 and would easily full fill £4m worth of potential. I still cannot get my head around it. Billionaire owner being a cheap cunt in times of desperation. Crazy. spot on. There is no way that Keegan didn't come in and immediately see 2 or 3 players that he would have liked to have signed that he knew would improve the team and avoid this mess that we are now heading towards. Board, KK, both? Whoever is to blame will be very lucky to avoid the most serious of consequences for not strengthening a weak team in the winter window. What pisses me off is we knew the ANC was on, and we were to lose some good talent and we sat and did nothing to cover our arses. Fuk me, its a joke, and that's not KK's fault, plans should have been made for a couple of loans or something similar to cover these players. Thinking about it, he probably had targets but he doubted him own judgement, didn't want to take a risk, but you've got to takes some risks in football or you'll never go anywhere. Calculated? Barnes for £4m would be calculated enough. (just one example, i'm not saying he's superman and better than Messi and would have tonked Manu by himself)

Yes, well i think so. His decision (that's what he said) and him not having enough knowledge of the modern game. You can blame that one on the board for appointing him if you like. I won't be bothered if we manage to stay in the league, but right now its touch and go, and if KK couldn't sign anyone in the window then he shouldn't have been appointed, right now its done more harm than good. Come the summer it will be very different, however it pans out.
