Had a better season than any of our s****! Pompy have had a better season than us. He's been decent, not as good as the year before, and i reckon next season we'll see the same kind of drop again. Distin's pace rescues him and them quite a bit, we don't have that in any of our defenders. speaking of pompey, the type of midfielder they've got their CM packed with is what we should be targetting; big, athletic, strong bastards with pace and stamina who can get up and down the pitch and dominate teams especially away from home they struggle at home as none of those players are creative as such, i'd arrest that by signing a bearsdley-esque player to play up front with another striker (owen or martins would do) i really think that's the way we need to go...buying a CM like alonso/gerrard or whoever would cost the earth and they wouldn't come, doing it this way would protect the defence too which we so depserately need Height as well. We really could do with some aerial prowess in the centre, we've had none since Speed left and it shows. We get no goals from mid players at set pieces and the ball sails over the heads of our short arse mids and straight to or back to the opposition. Strength, pace and power as well? That's a lot of requirements for one player, hope we can find him.

Campbell's legs have gone, i'd rather not now.

£8m is a lot of coin. Tempting if we hadn't paid £6m for Smith.
-
Well done. That's like donating £1m direct to charity.

Says who? Do you know for a fact that debt is on Ashley rather than the club? Has Ashley cleared the debt or do we owe him £100m? None of the details are public, its all guesswork, but like any good self-made billionaire his own fortune is very rarely ever at risk with business ventures these days, if the club went down i reckon the debt would be back on us if he did decide to wash his hands of us. remember the article in the sundays with ashley that said he found out the club was in a lot more debt than he though as soon as he bought it? but he paid it anyway and if he'd known in advance it wouldn't have changed his decision he said in there, i think, that it was all being paid by him and used man u as an example of why we're in the best position 'cause he IS paying it himself whereas they're mortgaging the clubs future and the debt is the clubs only trouble is i also seem to recall that interview being discredited not long after too I remember the article, but it still didn't say if the debt was to be paid back. That's a major issue if we go down.

What pisses me off is after all those years of mismanagement we get a new board (which 95% of people wanted) an up and coming manager and we somehow pull of the worst season in our premiership history. How the fuk does that happen? Crazy, totally crazy. The new board have had a shitter. Mort should come to work wearing a yellow Armani suit imo, and to make things worse i very much doubt their commitment. At least inside FS warped little brain you knew he had feelings for this club. You just wonder when the play toy becomes FUBAR does the billionaire kid throw it in the bin? All mouth no trousers so far from the new board. Lets hope they have the summer to prove me wrong, at the moment its touch and go whether we'll still be here (in the prem), that in itself is disgraceful.
-
Like i said in the another thread we bring out the very worst in a player. Their weakest attribute we bring to the boil and it defines them as a player here. Barton - Jail Smith - ability Viduka - Fitness & lazyness Enrique - Adaptability Those are just the summer signings. Cursed.
-
Great work quoting that. Double the fine Apparently not.
-
Not really, the sacking was ill timed but it was the appointment of utter shite which saw us off.

In a trench now, fuk am i surrendering.

1st time i've done it tbf, and this was for a reason as when Smith signed Alex thought he was a player, and all i'm saying he could still have been that player if he moved somewhere else.
-
You thought he was a good player and would surprise a few people with his 'ability' when we signed him. I did indeed and I was completely wrong wasn't I? I fully admit that. I thought he was a canny forward who, although not prolific, would be a decent target man. I still thought he should be number 4 striker though behind Owen, Viduka and Martins (not necessarily in that order). What worried me was that I knew he wouldn't be no. 4 after Allardyce had spent £6m on him. All i'm saying is that player you thought was canny would have been canny somewhere else, a smaller club (one with less expectations) would have appreciated the workrate of him, would have different pressures etc...The turmoil this club brings on itself is un-parallel to any other out there. Right now Sunderland are happy to be in a relegation fight and not to be KO'd and with no hope, they'd appreciate Smith running around looking like he's doing loads of work and for that it would present him totally different chances a different style of play and even some confidence and support, something he's not had and never will get here. That's my logic, i don't think there's zero in that at all. Right now he's worth fuk all to this club, but i think there are Prem teams in a relegation battle who'd love to have Smith and Smith would be looking good in their team.

I felt sick when we signed him, couldn't believe we wasted that kind of money, but even I thought he'd do better than this. Beyond any fear i had for him. Fears about Barton, Owen, Duff, Enrique plus a host of others came true as well. We just bring out the very worst in players, the possible worst case scenarios we bring to the boil, were cursed. I guarantee if Smith went to Boro or Sunderland he'd have looked a tidy player. Nothing great but i bet he'd be scoring goals and looking like someone worth some money. I doubt it like. Good for you.
