Problem is, any listing is FM labelled, any example for is hindsight, and any example against is I told you so. You can't win this arugment, hence why im not getting involved with naming names. Fact is, if they didnt exist, football wouldn't either.

I don't really want to be drawn into an FM style argument for, but there are players out there. Young, older, contract issues, not needed and so on, and we don't seem to have the pulse on it to an extent others do. If there were no players, then football would cease to exist in a few years. So they are there. Instead of £55m on elanga. A rb, lb and rw, all punts for £55m combined, and we would have been better off. We can afford to take punts. What we can't afford is paying premium prices for Ramsey & Elanga and them not deliver. They've crippled us this season, more so than any punts, and usually the punts can be moved on for what you've paid. No one is paying us anywhere near what we paid for them 2.

Who's our 2nd? Tino? But he's out 1st choice RB. This is where the squad gets stretched with just one injury (Hall) and the domino effect kicks in. 4 competitions. That's a big ask for it not to happen.

I can tell you one who gets skinned several times a game.

Botman isn't the same player, so is still suffering from injury. Tino has picked up another injury so is still part of it, and Hall has been in and out (inluding patchy form) as well. None of those 3 are clear, but at least Hall & Tino would be had we other options. Botman is looking like its a serious blow to his quality, and may never be the same player, or will take months to get him back to where he was. I've included them two as they are on the books, have a squad place and picking up wages. They count. Forgot about Trippier being out for 6 weeks as well.

I see TNT have ruined FA Cup weekend. Not only have they & Sky robbed the common person of Champions League & European football (PL went many moons ago), they've now bought up most of the matches in the FA cup as well. No wonder more youth just aren't arsed about football, its completely unaccessable.

Eh? Burn has been out for weeks. Botman is still recovering. Hall & Tino have been in and out for weeks. Lacelles & Kraft permenantly injured. Pope out for weeks and just coming back. Ramsey injured and trying to come back all season. Wissa just returned. Schar is the only new injury in the last few days. Tino is still recovering from his other injury, and picked up another. That's how it works when players are overused on return. Just because a player can get minutes on the grass doesn't mean they are fully fit and there is no injury crisis. They are stil part of it until they are up to speed.

Howe doesn't rate them enough though, so would rather player experienced players out of position or bring back players who aren't 100% fit over them. Realistically all those should be out on loan, and we have a squad ready to rotate in, then those youngsters put pressure on the squad places. We're clearly missing a tier of players, and it's not going to bridge itself with young players playing reserve football only.

Burn cannot cover at LB. You might as well play Ramsdale there.

Exactly. Not every player coming in has to be a £30-50m proven PL player. We need to build a squad, and the best way to do that is take some punts from abroad. This has worked out well for many clubs in the league, and if we did the same, our key players wouldn't be ran into the ground and be rushed back.

Really disappointing we find ourself nearly halfway through the window still in the midst of an injury crisis and we've not even been properly linked to getting a player through the door. Guess the club is happy to tread water this season and risk losing its best players in the summer. Some ambition.
