Tbh, the Lighthouse Family have always made me want to top myself whenever they're played.
-
This is great news. Now we can all pretend he's innocent and get on with football.
-
If anyone knows what the URL was for yesterday's image, I'm sure I could get it.

I was going to put 'Premier League' in the title, but forgot. Considering I only listed those seasons we've ben in the PL, I thought it was pretty obvious I was only referring to those seasons. I had to narrow the poll options somehow and that seemed as good a place as any. Everyone's entitled to discuss whatever they want, but I didn't really want to drag up old arguments we've had time and time again.

I seem to remember Ambrose was bought as a winger, but also turned out to be a CM.
-
I think the SBR/Solano relationship was a bit weird, tbh. Presumably SBR's plan was to move Dyer to the right with Ambrose as understudy: but that didn't exactly work out!
-
It'd be nice to see a top with more black than white for a change.
-
Oh, I agree. SBR was definitely building along the right lines. Even if the answer were to replace Sir Bob, to replace him with Souness was a fucking awful joke. I can't imagine a more efficient way of destroying a football team short of lining up the players and shooting them in the knees.
-
The more I look back on that 5th finish with SBR, the more I see how bad it was. There was a furore about the booing at the last home game, but look at the facts: utter shambles against Partizan--essentially undoing all the good work of the season before--the Marseille disappointment, failure to claim CL place, and general downturn in the quality of the football.

In which case I definitely stick by my original vote. For me, everything went downhill from that moment Keegan lost his rag live on Sky. I had high hopes for Dalglish, I can't explain why I got so excited by the signing of Tomasson or Guivarc'h but I did... I had high hopes for SBR too, and things looked like they were getting better until the summer before he got sacked. Since then, we've just been on the slide, gradually becoming more and more derided by the pundits, the "top" teams, and generally being regarded as an increasing irrelevance in the Premiership. We're just making up the numbers at the moment. Sure, Souness's reign of terror was like watching a loved one get mown down by a speeding juggernaut, sickening to see the whole Bellamy, Dyer, Bowyer shenanigans...but since that was all just part of a bigger picture of our gradual demise, it's sort of blurred into the rest of the misery. I say it's tricky, because it was very difficult for me to answer. There's a few I could plum for, and some, like the season you picked looks worse as more time goes by. I went for the popular choice in the end though. It's the one freshest in the memory, it basically ruined the club for years, and Souness is the only former manager I'd actually like to see bludgeoned to death.

I meant what, for you, has been the worst season. The one that makes you feel worst right now looking back on it.
-
Christ. What seemed to be a request for a bit of light-hearted fun has turned into another shit-fest.
-
When you look back at Newcastle's PL years, which season do you least like to remember? It's a tricky one...

The Geordie's love their football bit has come about because the people identify their love of the region with the club. When you see a 50 year-old women walking down the street with a B&W scarf it's most likely saying, 'I'm a proud Geordie' more than it's saying, 'I love NUFC'. It's like seeing a Scot with a Saltire and saying, 'Wow, that fella must really like St. Andrew.'
-
Oh. It was an absolute panic signing. It always seemed to me that Roeder had barely heard of the fella before the media started linking us to him. I distinctly remember him saying, 'Um. Yeah, I know about him but we're not signing him.' The whole thing smacked of the move for 'I've never heard of the fella' Benayoun except we actually went for Gooch because we were desperate.
-
Tbh, I think Shearer would be one of the few potential managers who could stand shoulder to shoulder as an equal to FFS in the running of the club. The last thing we need is another puppet or clown who's simply grateful to have been given a decent job.
-
For me, N'Zogbia has to play in every match remaining. Duff has done fuck all and to even consider Luque is a joke. Luque's history, but Charlie is the future of our club, ffs. Get him and Milner out on the wings and relegate Duff to LB if necessary.
-
The one thing the fans can get is a change of manager. There's no way we'll oust FFS.
-
£1.5m mark would be a good buy. He's capable in the air, quick, good physical presence, and would be a good second-choice CB if nothing else. Anything more than that and it's a risk.
-
you are quite right. We haven't bought a single player for the last 5 years. I suspect you may have missed the point.
-
I think all proposals of mass demonstrations and the like sound excellent in theory, but, when push has come to shove, have never actually happened. For every one who agrees to do and it then does it, there are fifty more who have agreed to do it but don't do it. The best we can hope for is someone with the dosh to buy the club--and quick--or minor the demonstrations at matches we've seen with Souness, Gullit, etc.
-
'Buy a ST and get entered into our Shag Scarlett Johansson sweepstake!'
-
AKA Will Damien Duff ever beat a full-back ever again?
-
He actually said that? If I'd known I'd wouldn't have even bothered turning on the fucking TV.
