  1. There's no doubt that cheapskate Charlie has played them like a fiddle, although some of their less gullible fans are now seeing through them. However spinning getting a loan of a few million quid, probably with some form of surety against whatever remaining assets they have and because the owners themselves can't afford it, into some kind of positive is a masterclass even by his levels of bullshit.
  2. So Pep's decided to stay at Man City. From what I heard a couple of weeks ago I thought he'd be leaving to join England's newest richest club? ? Maybe they see something in Parkinson that Pep didn't have ?
  3. Sift through the usual cliches like big club, sleeping giant blah blah and it isn't particularly appealing for any ambitious manager. The reality is that you'd be coming into a situation where fan expectation is going to be high but the reality is you're inheriting a squad of players which is nothing more than average 3rd division mid table, still including overpriced deadwood and with existing owners who seem more intent on taking money out than investing any. Add to that the fact they seem to change managers every nine months or so - it only seems like yesterday that some of their wise sages were telling us that Simon Grayson was preferable to Rafa - and I can't really see many well qualified coaches or managers knocking at their door.
  4. Don't think it will be Phil Parkinson. I just read the article below so it could well be they'll be going for Pep or Kloppy, pretty much as alluded to by Hit here and a few other posters a couple of weeks ago, along with winning the Premier League, Champions League etc etc. https://www.a-love-supreme.com/single-post/2019/08/22/Takeover-Confirmed
  5. Looks like it's Bally time again, as it has been at some point during virtually every season for the last three decades down on Wearyside.
  6. Yeah I’m a bit confused by that. There’ll be some money put in but I think they’re underestimating the amount to get them competing at a decent PL level. They’ll never be a man city etc so it’ll be interesting whether they could sustain PL mid table with their s*** revenue Leicester managed, and are a smaller club. A set of stars aligned that season in regard to all the "big" clubs being in some form of transition or upheaval that is unlikely to happen again anytime soon. You mackems really are a blindly optimistic bunch and always go a bit silly whenever anyone from the outside world takes an interest in you but just to dampen your excitement and dreams of imminent glory for a moment, ask yourselves why these billionaire investors have chosen to spend coppers on a cheap purchase rather than a ready made top club ? The investment needed to get from a squad of players and coaches who wouldn't make Championship reserves to being a successful premier league club is several hundred million so why not just spend it now ? There's a reason why these people have never invested in sports franchises before and why they've bought a corner shop rather than a top brand. You're a strangely excitable bunch and moving on from the Don should be viewed as some kind of progress, even if it's little different to the numerous other lower league clubs who have seen investment from various "gazillionaires", but realistically you should probably be concerning yourselves more with what your going to do with your increasingly unpopular manager and a squad who can't put a run together in the third division rather than dreaming about winning the Premier League.
  7. Minimal effort. Pretty much any big city in Europe there'll be an Irish bar with Sky/other sports channels. Hey presto, literally a 10-second Google search - https://www.delaneys.be/ You do realise he’s doing it to get bites? Never seen someone post so much in my life about anything then tries to claim they don’t care Those who claim to no longer be interested continually posting to tell us how disinterested they are is getting a bit weird like
  8. On radio last night local pundits predicted their finishing position and all went for straight promotion or play offs but nothing really supports that. In recent years local press give all things Sunderland a very gentle ride probably because of the state of the place, not wishing to run it down further, and these radio pundits are probably reluctant to call them out as an average 3rd tier side, but since January they've been nothing more than that. Their present squad also looks weaker than last season. Even in such a poor league top six may be beyond them.
  9. The ridiculous attempts to demonise decent people like Shola, Lascelles and now Ritchie for making what most normal people would deem to be innocuous statements does nothing to help the anti Ashley cause.
  10. Anyone else read that in a Nigel Farage Brexit (Nexit ) rant voice ? "Before Ashley Newcastle were Man Utd's football rivals" could also be Boris's kipper thing and wasn't there someone else shouting "We will be GREAT again"
  11. I haven't heard a single fan criticise any aspect of his game, finishing included. Quite the opposite in fact. I think we've already seen the quality he possesses and what he brings to the team and know that goals will inevitably follow.
  12. So this strange bunch who once referred to the Championship as a "pub league" - a league they can only dream of operating in right now - are currently struggling in a league where the season started with some teams not allowed to play fixtures because of financial sanctions, others having to field a team of schoolkids because they've got no players and one who don't even have a ground Ah well, just another 99 points and they'll reach that easy target posh boy has set them
  13. Just another hysterical shop shouting fanny, venting his spleen on match attending sheep scum. Oh happy days
  14. Are there any platforms where sane people can discuss the club's ownership?
  15. It has been for ages man, but you're right it will get worse. Eventually it may just be you and Fitzy left to bang on to each other 24 hours a day about how you don't care anymore Maybe there'll still be one other left who will tell us how disinterested they are but still be kind enough to post an update every time a new kit or a season ticket is sold
  16. Fuck me what happened to this once decent forum? Is Fitzgerald Dangermarrows off RTG masquerading as one of our new self flagellating fans? Similar posting style and seemed to appear about the same time as Brucey.
  17. 2-1 Newcastle. Almiron and Rondon for Newcastle, Ayoze for Arsenal. 52,000 sell out attendance, with 20,000 screaming jawdees, from the new waiting list, locked oot.
  18. Back then it was a bloke who sat in his office and looked at the ceiling and tried come up with good ideas for investment etc. Bit of a piss take really, always found plumbers and electricians much more useful
  19. Added strength and physical presence to our midfield and not without a measure of skill too. Generally seemed to be one of those who was often more appreciated by management than fans. Good luck Mo!
  20. As far goes Pinsent yes, I moonlight as a recruiter for high level positions. Legal is one of the areas I dabble in along with Localization and Digital. I’ve pinched a few for them (Pinsent Masons) in the last 2 years. Especially when they were setting up a new Dublin office. I didn’t post all day yesterday as am on holidays in Italy right now but when I saw all the news yesterday evening I reached out to my guy and he was aware of it so I didn’t need to fish too much for the info. The takeover is a formality at this stage I’ve been told. Pinsent have a big team working on this, I assume Ashley does too with his lawyers so it’ll get trashed out in due course. The main thing now is for BZG to move funds into a holding account controlled by the law firm. He doesn’t know for sure as he’s not working directly on this but he says deals of this size are usually done in instalments over the course of a few weeks and if the club has been broken up into smaller pieces like it has, each transaction will be a tranch of parts of the club, until it’s all transferred over in full. Well one things for sure you’re definitely moving in corporate circles, with the ‘reaching out’ stuff Want to punch people at work when they say that. Corporate terminology is so cringe-worthy. "Blue sky thinking" is another that makes me I worked with Americans for quite a few years and the bullshitty corporate expressions they use seem to cross the Atlantic a few years later. We hired a "Blue Sky Thinker" about 25 years ago, that was his actual fucking job. Only lasted about six months though
  21. He's played them like a fiddle from day one and how on earth they were gullible enough to take Methven at face value simply beggars belief. I guess it's just their desperation to be wanted and loved by someone, anyone.....
  22. Perhaps we should be patient a little while longer though and wait for an "end of" as it conveys a slightly more smug level of arrogant certainty.
  23. Today's the day the club break their silence surrounding the recent speculation. They make a statement denying any knowledge of supposed middle eastern buyers but reiterate that the club remains for sale. Nah, it really is going to happen this time
