Decision was made by the new Premier League "What can we do next to fuck up the fans" committee which has been given authority to make everything as difficult as it can for match attending supporters. -
Newcastle United 2-0 Crystal Palace (04/01/26) | post-match from pg. 43

That was a really poor away following by any standards, especially considering their radical ultras hype. Not directed at the few who did make the effort of course, well done to them for making the long trip up. -
No interest at all, but that's pretty much how I feel about international football in general nowadays with the repulsive FIFA corrupting it. The fact that this one predominantly takes place in what is now a rouge state controlled by a deranged dictator just seals it.

Nowt against Barnes, far from it, but still think Gordon, overall, is our best and most productive wide man. Only thing I'd really level against him is that he hasn't got a close enough friend to tell him "Anthony that headband makes you look a complete and utter tit. Get rid FFS" -
Sundlund til it's cold.

And is a good finisher. Don't forget the finishing -
It needs to sink in that we have a very good goalkeeper, accept that he's not the best with the ball at his feet, and realise that stature and shot stopping is more important in winning games than passing to a full back. Reality is, although not a strong part of his game, his play from the back is nowhere near as bad as some make out, passing from the back is decreasing incrementally as teams look to counter a high press, and to upgrade on Pope would seriously hamper our budget to strengthen in other areas.

He's not a full back he's a CM who will score goals. That said it's been brilliant that he has been able to fill in at full back so competently when all three recognised right backs are out. -

Aye, and they're in better form than us, two draws in their last two games against a draw and defeat for us. Worrying times. -
In my experience of travelling around the UK and further afield people know about Newcastle and generally quite like the club and fans, and those who follow their club away, by and large, seem to love the place. The macum MAGA slant that the world loves them (get applauded in and out of pubs iirc) and hates Newcastle is just their regular strange desire to be noticed and liked, while obsessing about Newcastle. In the latest derby maybe they were favoured by many neutrals, but as a club who've spent most of their recent years playing in the third tier against a team in the Champions League, it's only to be expected that many neutrals will favour the underdog.

It's a great non league ground, possibly the only new built one that retains the character of one of the old traditional NL grounds, and the stand is excellent. Must have been great with a crowd that size inside it.

Just been reminded tonight (how could I forget?) that it was also Madley who blew the whistle for full time against Liverpool last season when we'd just got back to 3-3 and were breaking 3 on 1. Trelford Mills only did it once. The Madleys have a catalogue of bent games against Newcastle.

His salary going forward in any new contract would be decided by how much anyone else is prepared to pay him and how much we want to keep him. Statement of the obvious I know, but all parties will factor in his injury record. It's how we picked up Callum Wilson for a paltry 20M and probably makes Bruno priceless.
-
When we signed him it really looked like a major acquisition taking our defence to another level. Early on he was one of our main players along with the rest of the spine of Izak, Joelinton and Nick Pope. It's a huge shame that it hasn't worked out as hoped in the longer run and if his next comeback doesn't lead to an extended run it's hard to see much of a future for him here.

Think Razor Raisbeck referred to them as "entitled" in the match highlights. They were. Just typical entitled Kensington twats.

This was possibly the worst and most scary aspect of yesterday's refereeing performance. Madley allowed himself to be constantly harangued by groups of Chelsea players right through the game while they also demanded the game be stopped every time one of them decided to fall over. Really weak refereeing which he eventually allowed to impact on his decision making instead of going the other way and making a firm stance.

He's very good in front of goal too, can use his right or left foot as well as being a good header of the ball. As he's already shown there's a goal scorer and dead ball kicker there and imo he has to be in a position where he can maximise that. Thing is he is an exceptional talent with great physical attributes and can probably play anywhere, hence why the academy made him a CM. If they'd wanted they could have made him a striker too. To some he may be a recent thing but behind the scenes they've known for a long time they had a very special player coming through and a lot of thought has gone into his development pathway. -
It was like in an under 9 children's game or something where one side was so much better and took a two goal lead so feeling sorry for the other team the referee decided to give them every decision to even things up and stop them crying. Except it wasn't an under 9's game it was the Premier League.

.com going full on about the incompetence of the ref and VAR in their usual articulate and reasonable style, and they usually veer away from the more controversial stuff in their match reports. That's how bad/corrupt Madley was yesterday.
-
Probably worst aspect of this one was illustrated clearly on the match highlights. Immediately after it the totally incompetent referee clearly looks to the linesman for guidance, which means he probably thinks it was a foul. FFS man just make the decision yourself, you're the fucking referee and gave a free kick to the other team which led to their first goal for a similar, but arguably, less clear foul. And looking at the linesman for guidance ?? FFS most of them can't even make a throw in call anymore until the referee guides THEM.

Newcastle United 2-2 Chelsea (20/12/25) | post-match from pg. 45
Benwell Lad replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Shoulder challenges are legal and don't get penalised because they tend to be a 50/50 thing. Running into someone at full speed with no intention of playing the ball, when they're looking to play the ball is not a fucking shoulder challenge. It's an intentional foul. -
No Madley should ever have been allowed to ref at St. James Park. It's beyond comprehension how bad he is and still gets to referee matches.

Assuming he is at RB again today it will be interesting to see the shape we take in possession. Full backs push up nowadays but his positioning was so clearly in the midfield at times. It is so obvious how he plays to instruction, sometimes almost like Eddie is guiding him by remote control -
I was told virtually the same by a Forest fan except he said he was their "best player".
