Nah, you're right, but if anyone has forgotten then Pompey have shown them how bad it really can get.

Thanks. Sure, I understand the difference between leverage and UK government type borrowing. However as we all know when it comes to football normal business sense often flies right out the window Wish I could remember the article I mentioned as I'm pretty sure it held them up as one of the bad examples.

Lad on FB was under the impression wins for Man Utd/Spurs tonight guaranteed them European football. They are a special bunch Am I right in thinking that unlike the FA Cup in the event of the winner qualifying for Europe via the league the Europa League place goes to the league? Aye. Us hopefully

they were booking coaches and hotels before the Everton cup replay a couple of seasons ago, nothing should surprise you with those bipolar fuckers.

mag Show 'iz yer season ticket marra.

I seem to remember reading an article some months ago naming PL clubs who were mortgaging future income and stadium freeholds etc against loans to buy players and the perilous risks of doing so. I think Southampton were on the list, which if true would be the polar opposite of the Ashley model. Does anyone know if this is correct or is their owner funding their transfers and wages ? Bearing in mind what has happened to their nearest and dearest neighbours in the last few years you'd think the Saints would be a bit cautious.

Ahh bless them... there's always one little club gets to the latter stages of this cup and it seems that this is their year and they're getting themselves all in a tizzy about it.....bless. Seems all is forgiven and being clear bottom at Christmas doesn't matter any more as they switch to discussing how the Wembley tickets will be distributed. They're all dreamy at the moment so lets hope the forthcoming fixture congestion doesn't bring them down to earth with too much of a bump.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United - 21/12/13 @ 15:00 (NO UK TV)

I like Palace. Decent club, loyal fans despite regular kicks in the goolies, a bit like ourselves. Always find Croydon folk to be quite similar to ourselves as well despite the geographic distance apart. Hope they survive and get a chance to develop as a PL club. -
What? Barely 20K attendance for a cup quarter final against one of the top clubs with 5 quid tickets and Chelsea bringing a load up too ??
-
I reckon og will be gone in the January window. He's fucking lethal for them man.

Must be knocking on 48 hours since they had a thread about why their attendances are lower than ours - so guess what - they've started another one. Yes I know, it's not really worthy of mention given how many they start but this one is the most excuse and cliché riddled yet It points out that our support is much higher than theirs, BUT our support is actually shite because it should be much higher and theirs is fantastic because it should be much lower. Main reasons for our attendances being much higher............ err.... the position of the coast line and the river, and we have a public transport system

hope im wrong like. This is so just the kind of game we lose, you can smell them a mile off. Like you hope I'm wrong like and the obvious quality and spirit we have in the squad nowadays makes such pessimism a thing of the past. -
Did they really get outplayed and outfought, at home, by that current Tottenham side, in a game many classed as "must win" ? Says a lot about their players and chances of surviving iyam.
-
Norwich aren't a great side but they look more potent than the macums. I've seen them quoted at 3/1 which looks quite generous against a team with 9 points from 16 games and the leagues worst goal difference ??

Aye, that dribble man

I saw yesterday they had their regular weekly (or is it daily?) thread lamenting why most people in certain parts of County Durham support Newcastle. Once again after much gnashing of teeth, infighting and threats they arrived at the following conclusions. 1. All mags are cernts apart from mags from County Durham who are even bigger cernts. 2. All Sunderland supporters go to every game home and away but mags don't go to matches, indeed most have never been to SJP, and just watch games on TV.

Never been able to understand why a small fast player isn't left on the half way line when defending a corner. It almost necessitates two extra players having to stay back. It's hardly a Pardew thing though, with the exception of the aforementioned time when Chelsea kept up to three players up no one seems to do it.

I never had great belief in statistical analysis of football matches, particularly percentage possession, but recently reading that Spurs dominated possession when they got twatted 6-0 by Man City and yet only had 25% possession when they beat Man Utd 3-2 has finished me with taking any notice whatsoever of it.
-
Has the stuttering Gus bus conked out ? By the manager's own admission yesterday was a "must win" game, yet despite being given every possible advantage and facing the weakest XI any club will probably have to field in the PL this season they just weren't up to it.

Love the photo of the pylon and those brilliant ones from manorpark too. A first team squad of 14 players Eric Ross - nee glasses on, Wyn the leap - hard as granite. Never noticed the resemblance between Joe and Roberto Martinez before seeing that picture Over the years I've watched from every part of St.James' at some time but nothing will ever compare with being in the old Leazes, the incredible noise and boisterous sea of fans was just amazing to be part of.
-
I did it at the Gallowgate when I was a kid but never to the height some of those are at. During some of the bigger games you could see people up trees in Leazes Park from the Gallowgate, that was after they'd knocked down the old Leazes and had a lower back wall. Watching from the windows, and even occasionally on the roof of Leazes Terrace before the "new stand" was built and it was still the Popular.

Newcastle United vs Southampton - Saturday 14th December at 3pm (not on TV)

I'd like to know what route that fella is taking if Tilley's is 20 minutes from the ground. They should enjoy all the excellent pubs we have close to the ground and around town in general, especially coming from a dump like Southampton which has about two decent pubs in the whole place.
