Well he was asked to talk about a player too but shelvey was the one that came to mind. I have zero doubts we will see an improved Shelvey. We always do, he was immense for Rafa to start. It's in 6 months time, give or take he will revert to type. If we can change our style and successfully attack to push teams back, while retaining pressure we might create the space shelvey needs to be effective. If there is time and space shelvey can be useful but it seems like a big ask for any team in this league let alone the one with the usual lowest possession and no fluidity and effective plan to attack. That's where Howe comes in, but we shall see if it's possible.

Some of this stuff is surely a bit chicken and egg though. You want to explore all avenues and hire the best people but they also need to work well together so it takes time. Seems we were a little backwards due to the necessity of a head coach change that had to happen quickly. In an ideal world the positions would have happened top down and informed each other. It's pretty clear the PL approval took everyone by surprise and bad timing for previous head coach targets.not having someone in mind for key positions like DoF and CE, seems a bit strange but I think they have wanted to do due diligence and look at all options. It's one thing to say "are you interested if this goes ahead" but who knows whose circumstances has changed since and who said no because it didn't look like it would happen but are now interested etc. There is certainly nothing to say any of the prospective DoF weren't consulted to get their opinion of Howe before he was appointed.

It all depends on what Howe gets out of our players/how they respond to him and what is actually available/interested in coming. A month a go 6 new players wouldn't have been silly A LB, CB, DCM, CM, winger and Striker. Arguably another RB. Depending on what Howe gets from players we could probably do fine with a quality CB, CB/fullback, CM and a striker. I actually have more faith in our current CB's than our midfield. If we get a big upgrade infront/around them they will look completely different imo.

That last 10 minutes took years off my life. What a huge moment for the game in Canada. Hopefully can keep this momentum and keep building through 2022. Bloody El Salvador doing none of us favours though. Panama need to start losing! Preferably Mexico keep losing too!

It is an interesting one. Loans will make sense to players as will relegation release clauses. Loans might also make sense to us to. However, will we get the 100% Howe wants out of players if they know they have that fall back to return to their club? Not potentially ideal if we are in a relegation fight. Provided we are decisive and properly do our homework on players characters before we bring them in, we should be fine. Really interested to see what Howe and his team can get out of our players. While it is likely not that much, I still have hope for a renewed Longstaff, Hayden and quite a few others. As it is right now CM is absolutely the priority with a CB and LB. That could change though! Ramsey scares the shite out of me. I just feel given our history of injuries throughout the years (rafa aside somehow) he would be a waste of money and never play.
