nufc.com update; "Do we want our Eds examined?" Looks like we got this well and truly wrong - apologies to all, but why did nobody else but NUFC.com care to mention the injury and the operation when the story broke on Thursday? Surely all those other sites and news outlets didn't just plagiarise Olly without doing even a moment's checking? Forgive us if we don't understand the strange workings of football when injured players can be transferred - we were forgetting the precedent of Olivier Bernard....

I'd take it, to be perfectly honest. Would be nice if Martins was to reject a move, though

By Damian Spellman, PA Sport Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce is closing in on a deal to take Chelsea utility man Geremi to St James' Park. It is understood the Magpies are hopeful of securing the 28-year-old Cameroon international on a Bosman free transfer as he approaches the end of his four-year deal at Stamford Bridge. Geremi, who spent a season on loan at Middlesbrough from Real Madrid earlier in his career, made 23 starts and five substitute appearances for the Blues last season. However, with Paulo Ferreira and Lassana Diarra competing for the right-back spot and Jose Mourinho boasting an embarrassment of riches in midfield, his future chances look limited. Boro have repeatedly been linked with their former player this summer, although the Teessiders have insisted they have not been in the market for him. But the Magpies, who hope to announce the signing of Czech Republic defender David Rozehnal later on Wednesday, are desperate to strengthen at the back. Ironically, the right-back spot is one in which they have cover, although midfielder Nolberto Solano was used as an emergency defender in that position last season when Stephen Carr was either injured or having to play on the left. However, Geremi's versatility could prove invaluable as Allardyce re-shapes his squad. The manager has also been pursuing an interest in Marseille captain Habib Beye after releasing Titus Bramble, Craig Moore, Oguchi Onyewu and Olivier Bernard within days of his arrival at St James'. Geremi's arrival would see him follow the same path as Damien Duff, who left Chelsea for Newcastle in a £5million switch last summer. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/07/06/27/SOCCER_Newcastle.html&TEAMHD=soccer Orignal source seems to be the press association. Could well be some truth in that.

Just said he's at SJP now, and they showed Allardyce going in. Probably old footage though. Said something about hoping to tie it up in 24 hours - yeah right!
-
His agent said monday, Chronicle says wednesday. Who knows! It could be months.
-
From the same paper that said we'd signed him just a few days ago

Oh FFS, will you 2 get a room.

PRAGUE (AFP) - Paris Saint Germain's Czech international defender David Rozehnal is set to sign a four-year deal with Premiership side Newcastle on Monday, his agent revealed. "We're leaving for England on Sunday night and David will undergo a medical on Monday morning. Afterwards he should sign the contract," his agent Pavel Zika told the CTK agency. Rozehnal, who will be 27 next month, joined PSG in June 2005 on a four-year deal. He has 34 caps for the Czech Republic. According to press reports Rozehnal was also targetted by Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla in Spain. http://www.soccerway.com/news/2007/June/22/rozehnal-set-to-sign-for-newcastle Medical and signing on monday then

Theres a difference in saying we're linked with, and that we have actually managed to sign, though. They also came up with Allardyce to Newcastle, and said he was bringing Barton with him - before he was appointed manager. I believe this is going to happen.
-
Heres hoping something happens either way, tommorow.

Borussia Dortmund are ahead of Newcastle United in the quest to sign Paris Saint Germain defender David Rozehnal. Sam Allardyce has confirmed an interest in the Czech Republic international, but last week denied a £2million transfer was 'imminent'. Dortmund are also keen on the stopper and his agent has intimated Rozehnal would prefer a move to the Bundesliga. PSG chairman Alain Cayzac has now confirmed that Dortmund have edged in front of Newcastle, although no bids have been accepted. "About Rozehnal, Dortmund is a little ahead, but nothing is settled yet," Cayzac told L'Equipe. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=472430&CPID=24&clid=4&lid=&title=Dortmund+head+for+Rozehnal A bit worrying, although it could well be bollocks.

Yep! Think i've made about 4 posts there. Not been told to fuck off yet, mind.
-
Cheeky cunts at Vitalfootball blatently nicking the info without giving him any credit.
-
He's been the most spot on ITK that i've ever heard of, to be fair. Its not just that he was right about all those, its that I don't think i've seen him say anything and then be wrong, either. Promising stuff, anyway.
-
He does - via every other outlet apart from the BBC. Out of all the press out there (Local papers, nationals, Talksport, Sky Sports, nufc.co.uk etc etc), the BBC is in the minority. Its hardly affected Alex Ferguson all these years refusing to talk to the BBC.
-
We probably realised that we'd make back that 300k within a year through fining him anyway.
-
Just got the official text from the club. SMS users get the info first? Bollocks do they... First before Man Citys site, the BBC, Sky Sports & The Northern Echo Confirmed its a 5 year, £5.8m deal. Nothing new there then.
-
Interesting ending. Glad its all done with though.
-
Bolton away! Thats gonna be a great start
-
Quite disapointed if true, that he's off to Chelsea. Thought this one was all but done.
-
Krul for 4 years, Solano for one year.. Its on the official site now. Good news, would be stupid to let Solano go on a free.
-
Oh yeah, whoops. Don't bloody go quoting it then!
-
Theres some pictures and quotes up on the official website now. "And speaking exclusively to nufc.co.uk, he told us: "I'm over the moon. I'm really happy. "The main thing that attracted me to the club was that it is moving in the right direction. "I think a new era is about to start. Sam Allardyce has come in and if we can get success then it will be something special." When asked what made him choose Newcastle, Mark added: "The size of the club. "The potential here is enormous and I'm really pleased to be part of it. "It's definitely one of the biggest clubs in the country and if we can get success then it will be something special."" http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1034013,00.html
