  1. Also, fine - we will get competitive deals in every area then - if 30-50m is the shirt sponsor number? done. if 15m for training ground? done.
  2. 30m a match, preseason tour of Saudi. Hahah! love it. Hahaha! OK, PL - we just made 120m in our 4 match tour, paid up front. Go fuck yourselves.
  3. So if you're not 1 of 2000 away fans in the allocation (obtained via lottery i assume for members only?) then you've no way of watching it? Or are you able to see it at pubs?
  4. Emery is an elite manager ran out of town at Arsenal for no bloody reason. I only disliked how he handled Hatem at PSG but I know Hatem likely not blameless there, found the whole thing hilarious as an outsider. In any case, if Emery is legit interested, he'd be my no.1 for sure. Absolute bang on pedigree and to me he's someone who could build the club up very very well.

Oh I agree. Just like, he hasn't been getting sub appearances or even rotation work. But he should be straight back into the team. Manq and Lewis as the first choice fullbacks for sure. For defensive solidity, I'd even have Dummett play LB over Ritchie if it meant we stopped shifting goals.
  6. So what are the blackout rules then? Is it within a radius of the stadium?

Lewis hasn't played any football this season so having him straight in the team sounds ideal.

Hopefully the new owners will just make a fuck off offer to the owners' of the land Ashley sold and try and get that back under our control.

@HTT II so renaming of the stadium, would make you just become passive, but if on the pitch - the club has welcomed back legends, been good in the community, supported the youth academy, built a new training facility, supported the womens' team, starting winning a cup or two, communicated with the fans "hey look, its been 5 years, we wanted to get rid of X manager, and we're going for the title now" and the place was buzzing off its ass - but since its the "Aramco Field at St James Park" you're just turning it in? Honest question.

At least the conversations here are not nasty, and people are genuinely debating things.

That quote by Jonathan Liew is fucking rancid. Agree with you. Such a lazy comparison and doesn't make a bout of sense. Football clubs aren't little community clubs anymore, they are global brands and businesses. They employ hundreds of people. Having morals/values = communicating with your fans and listening to them. But the other side of this is that in order to be a relevant football club and become successful, money needs to be invested.

Not a single person would advocate for saudi green stripes, Wullie. You're far more intelligent to actually believe that, mate. It's also quite easy for Liverpool or Man United to not sell their stadium naming rights because of the decades of pretty sound footballing decisions/success on the pitch that has made them an absolute global brand with massively lucrative deals already to begin with. So while selling their stadium would absolutely cause a riot, but given their owners ran to join a super league before turning around and not doing it, don't think for a second they'd do it when the going gets tough for them when little old Newcastle becomes a competitor, or when Jurgen Klopp leaves or when Man United's gravy train with Ronaldo or a shirt deal falls by the wayside. Sadly, we are not Man United or Liverpool, and while our stadium is an immense source of pride, we are completely shit in the commercial department. At the end of the day, I hope new adboards, shirt sponsor, hell, even sponsors of stands, training ground, official airline, etc etc etc is done before selling off the naming rights. But they've got to explore every avenue for us to compete long term.

The fans will not boo the players again this season unless they really stink up the pitch and don't turn up. IMO Jones will get the full backing, whether home or away.
  15. It was simply saying X manager is a fake Klopp. The other manager is like Redknapp. Rooney is like Souness. I'd rather you beat down managers for their actual performance as a manager than make people comparisons. I'd rather Lampard not be our manager either, I'm hoping its a Fonseca, Emery, Favre or Howe over a Gerrard or Lampard. But I just didn't think it was fair to call the younger english managers PFM. They aren't dinosaur cunts who beat their chest about whatever fake team they supported as a boy etc ala Bruce.
  16. Better if you just pointed to their tactics, football philosophy, or something else than just random name calling.

Commercial revenue isn’t dollar for dollar transfer fee income. Every major deal has lasting impact over multiple years via the way FFP calcs are spread and accounted for. I am open to all and any ways to get commercial revenues that don’t involve the stadium name. But if the overall goal is to make us successful as possible as soon as possible, ill trust the club owners to communicate and do the right thing until they don’t. “they are powerful enough to figure it out via other ways” is a fine comment but hard for me to accept that because it’s purely hypothetical
  18. @gjohnsoni gotta say man, that post of yours above has got to be oddest take I’ve seen in ages. I mean literally there isn’t a single thing in that post that is nothing but your own incorrect biased opinion.
  19. Shame on Howe for being picky about what job he takes and for his wife to have a say in it. What an odd thing to dig at re: Klopp. Not even remotely similar managers. Shame on Lampard for being sacked for being 9th. Don’t really care what Rooney has done minus the fact he’s at a club that has now completely become a mess of epic proportions.
  20. So weird how much hate Lampard gets. People ought to read about his time at Chelsea from all stages. He’s an intelligent, hard working, and modern thinking manager. He got the dream gig of taking over his club and had a right go of it. They spent a ton of money for him for players he had a major say in coming in and it didn’t work for him and they sacked him. The issue for me is, yeah Tuchel is a fantastic manager who’s also been working far longer, but how does English football get away from the dinosaur managers? Surely not by sacking and tarring Lampard, Howe, Rooney and Gerrard as PFM brigade. It’s by allowing these to actually fail and giving them a chance. haven’t seen Gerrard, Lampard or Rooney claim Bruce was one of the most influential managers in England over the last 100 years like Arteta.

True but when you add in a shirt sponsor on par with the top 6 at say 30-50m a year it does start becoming quite impactful.

City’s stadium deal is like £20m a year I believe.

If the money is clearly invested back into the club and team, no issue with me.
