    Transfer rumours

Pau Torres and Sule the CB pairing of the future for us.
  2. are they saying that because they realize Mikel "steve bruce is one of the most important english managers in past 100 years" Arteta was maybe rushed into the job and Emery was not given enough time?
  3. "must have experience dealing with saving a team from free fall" is the dumbest fucking thing i've ever heard
  4. We soaked up City (at home, Rafa's last season) and Hayden and Longstaff played their team off the park. We battled, we fought, and we not only equalized in 2nd half but won the match. Rafa masterclass. Our fans appreciate a plan, a team that carries out the plan, and ultimately we will always back that.
  5. Emery will lead the rebirth of this club
  6. top top manager, hope this gets done. Absolutely love this guy.

I won't let this one go. 6 pts from 9 pts with everyone fit - do the math on on that man. You've been supporting this club for a while but you know very well that this club lives and dies on relying on 1 player to be fit given the lack of squad depth. So our main striker goes down - it's been the story of our existence under MA man. Of course the whole thing falls apart when the 1 guy who carries the ball and creates magic gets hurt and the leading scorer also goes down. It's done for. The system was shot and should have been moved on. It was shite when the original players he needed to play it went down hurt, and they failed to adapt and that is totally on him, Bruce, et al. I know you've got issues with Jones and want a new manager but christ man - going back to a back 5 made sense when it did because we needed to change it up with the players at disposal. Jones should have played the best players fit and ready to go and he did not. I'm done with this convo because I really like you but you're just randomly picking at this. Chill bro.
  8. Want a manager who has a clear tactical brain and personality to galvanize the players and club/fans. Fonseca seems to be that kind of man - charismatic and smart football guy. Seems like he really wants the job too. Hope it's him!

won 2 and lost 1. Hmph, seemed to work better than it didn't. What point are you trying to make? I'm trying to say that when Jones came in we played a forward thinking formation when everyone was fit. Yes we reverted to a back 5 and etc later in the season but we approached 2 games with odd selection, defensive based completely and tried to grind out a 0-0 or 1-0 nick win. So I was shocked at his team selection and tactics.

Split striker seemed to work when Willock, Wilson were fit. It fell apart as soon as Wilson got hurt. Remember in that Southampton game off went Maxi too. Further Bruce also dropped WIllock for a period of games as well. Not saying it would turn our fortunes around and it be some revelation again - but that clearly was a plan and it was well drilled and focused. We have most of those players still here and fit - yet he played Krafth, Clark at CB. Ritchie at LWB. Still had Schar, Willock and Almiron not in the lineup (know WIllock is hurt).
  11. Rafa is a different type of guy to Conte anyway.

When Jones came in originally and we fielded a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield, 2 wide strikers, played it out the back and pressed higher up the pitch we looked very dangerous -- mind you with a team of Manquillo, Lewis as fullbacks. Schar & Fede/Lascelles at CB. Hayden sitting with Willock and Longstaff as CMs. Almiron central as a #10 and WIlson and Maxi up top - we looked a threat going forward and we were controlling games. We basically played that really well with at home to Southampton and few more matches before Wilson and Maxi got hurt and then tried to get it to work with Gayle and Joelinton and Fraser. I'm shocked we didn't go back to that when he took the interim gig tbh.
  13. He was bought with a specific purpose and under a former manager and looked every bit the part of being a really exciting attacker only to get hurt….former world class manager leaves and shock and awe a turbo shit manager like Bruce didn’t get the best out of him. Unreal.
  14. A really gut kicking result considering they seemed to be aware of just the plan of getting a single point or nicking something late. it wasn’t pretty, was never going to be but you could tell the plan literally was that. however a world class manager quickly made the subs ahead of ours and they scored and it was over. The introduction of Loftus-Cheek changed the game for them as he attacked the box and allowed James to get space in dangerous areas in the box. Game over. a new spine, a new coaching setup, a new fitness regime, every thing needs change.
  15. Until we get a manager, just pick up points.
  16. We’re missing the intent to pass the ball. This is a classic “keep it tight” and nick a point or goal type setup.
  17. Frustrating as fuck this lineup. But I’m backing the lads, Jones and hoping for some luck today.
  18. I suggest that the poster who goes by Saudi Magpie stop engaging in these discussions because it's not doing himself or his points he's making any good and further digging a hole. Your PIF now owns 80% of our club in the UK. The club is not located in KSA. How the club operates, carries itself...the people who work at that club every single day will be governed by the law of UK and will be (hopefully) respectful of the customs of the UK and those will always and should always be followed. I am thrilled we have fresh, ambitious capital willing to invest into OUR football club. As long as those owners do what they say they will do - which is listen to the fans, respect the fans, and build this club to be the best version it can be for the forseeable future - they will have my utmost respect and support. Please do not come here and try and make comments that only cause more division and more strife. If you want to build a bridge, listen (read) before you type a response. Cheers.
  19. Can people stop calling Erik ten Hag "Hag" - you're missing the ten in his surname. *assuming I'm not worong here
  20. Can someone post the times article?
  21. Put it this way, PIF's investment in Disney, Uber, etc are not material. PIF have no control over those companies and simply have large dollar values invested in massive companies. (Perhaps Uber may be a conflict of interest because Yasir is on their board) but overall this "working party" restricting Disney, Boeing, Citigroup from signing outlier commercial deals is damning. If say Tesla wanted to build a plant and office in Brighton and they wanted their brand name all over the Amex and out-bid Amex for the stadium names and even sign a shirt deal - who is to say that "working party" is to set the value based on what Amex signed X years ago? That doesn't make any sense.

  23. From the Athletic https://theathletic.com/news/newcastle-included-in-working-group-set-up-after-premier-league-meeting/lLUBCzXJYH6o/?source=twitteruk: I understand what the source is getting at, but I can't accept that "OK so Newcastle United is a 5m a year shirt team, and Liverpool is a 25m a year shirt team" - the whole point of these commercial deals is proforma and growth. Someone spending 10m, 15m, or even 25m a year on a shirt deal will be doing so based on the growth potential. To me that is a limit to free market. The materiality and thresholds should be based on comparable brands, companies, etc. ie: the airline companies have average of X, high - medium - low of X. I am very uncomfortable with how it's portrayed - esp the "and most likely see the agreement rejected" which is terribly unreasonable and incredibly poor way to conduct business.
