  1. any help? copy & paste job please? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/newcastle-united-takeover-group-wants-lower-price-due-to-coronavirus-crisis-bmq939gps
  2. there's about a billion reasons you sell at this point, and I can only assume MA dropped his price for a quick "fuck it" let me get my liquidity or dropped any of his outrageous demands. If you have money and are able to move quickly it's the perfect out for MA. be crazy if this deal happens.
  3. were people excited about Kenny? given he was a title winner and a huge name? I just remember being convinced by my dad and uncle that Kenny was a huge name and Newcastle would be fine. Again for context, I basically followed us like in delay - weekend update via the sports paper in Tampa, the random espn 2 show on weekends recap like a week later and/or phone calls from family who lived in England
  4. Imagine if either dutchman took over or it ended up being Sir Bobbhy.
  5. Dalglish and Souness man - fuckers.
  6. He has said many conflicting things as have others. He did speak to Man Utd (players could speak to clubs back then without club’s permissions like now). Walker would have sold for less to anyone other than Man Utd and made it almost impossible for them to deal with him. NUFC/S&N/Adidas would have paid whatever it took together to get Shearer. Once KK had his magic way there was no chance Shearer was going anywhere but home full stop. People forget at that time, although they were the Champions, we were regarded as the more ambitious and more likely to dethrone them and go on to keep winning. Shearer absolutely made the right decision not just in terms of his own ambitions as a player but financially and of course in terms of his family. It never quite worked out as intended, but I’m sure glad I got to see him in our number 9 banging them in. Hypothetical here - if Shearer stayed fit in the 96/97 and KK stayed on full season would we have won the league? What would 97/98 look with KK at helm, and only certain areas of the team upgraded?
  7. the price of fitness equipment on amazon and such in the USA has all skyrocketed too.
  8. HTT[/member] class post. I always think about Freddie Fletcher and how he was such the driving force behind Hall's cash
  9. Sorry it was relation to HTT's ridiculous long post. Aye I thought the same. Going out and buying the best striker on the planet having just missed out on the title to Man Utd wasn't a move to help us win the league!? He seems a cheerful chap does HTT and I don't want to seem too critical but I've seen him compare Domi to Evra and Distin & Woodgate to Ferdinand and Vidic! The daft owld git. HTT is basically the godfather of this place man. He's got loads of stories and anecdotes, part and parcel of N-O.
  10. HTT[/member] as mad as this sounds, I sometimes do wish KK wasn't full-on KK at times and just had stayed on to see out that season and longer. But that's super hindsight, and I know he's a man who only listens to his own mind and heart - which you can't fault. I'm still staggered by how terrible we were under Kenny after him and the signings made after were just not up to it.
  11. HTT[/member] love when you recount the old times man, a well of knowledge on the Toon I'd def agree on Acuna, Domi. I had high hopes for the random signings - Daniel Cordone, Andreas Anderson.
  12. Flowers and Hendry would have made all the difference, Batty, despite the love in for him on here, not so much. Clarky in our system, was more than capable in that position, whereas Pav and Peacock weren't in the same class as their Blackburn counterparts. Batty actually got forward more and showed how good he was, one game KK went mad with him at half time for just sitting and passing the ball sideways. He said if he wanted a defensive midfielder he’d play Peacock there or something. I think Batty scored after the break that game. He was a good player, far better than Clark. HTT[/member] - how do you think the team would have fared with Dalglish as manager if 1) Shearer stayed fit ie: where would we have placed? and 2) were there any rumors as to signings he was trying to make that didn't come off? and 3) super hypothetical - why did he dismantle the team that just finished 2nd? Seems like the dumbest thing you could do. He sold the star winger, the 2nd striker and tried to replace with a young JDT only? Maybe put it this way - what in your mind was he trying to do when he did that and how could it have gone differently?
  13. Kind of extra love Batty more for basically fucking off and living a normal proper life. I think Albert did the same, right?
  14. How was the city after the match? Genuinely people thinking it was finally our time to win the league?
  15. (Imagine if Ginola and Ferdinand didn’t get sold)
  16. Nothing stranger than me owning all of our away kits basically until adidas stopped being our kit supplier. Proper odd thing to own. I selectively owned the home kits. Weird shit kids do I guess.
  17. That’s incredible. The old denim away shirt was the first Newcastle shirt I had. The grandad collar shirt was sold out each time my old man went to London (he told me).
  18. How the fuck didn’t we win the title our two teams in 95-97 Should have won it twice ffs
  19. Would bloody make it a point to have a live rendition of blaydon races before kick off. Get people to their seat and get the crowd into it. If that’s what gees up the crowd make it a tradition.
  20. Seriously? I sit and watch these old matches he played in and he’s bloody good at reading the game, passing the ball, and doing the dirty stuff obv.
