Love Vardy doing that to anyone bar us scores some goal, looks at the crowd, taunts them.

And Eddie Howe is 100% bang on when he said you can easily look back and judge any transfer window but the reality is you have to go back in that moment and look at the context. “Fit for purpose” Seriously? We were staring at relegation and had to clean up the defense and add a midfielder and attacker. And we had to do all that with no gty we’d stay in the league. Then the following summer we somehow pulled off signing Isak. Botman was an absolute coup. Everyone and their mother was calling him a Rolls Royce defender. We bought AG10 who many (me included) didn’t want. And what did he turn into? And who helped him reach those levels? “Fit for purpose”. Fuck off with that. It’s just really poor choice of words.
-
No Jack, I haven’t. But as far as it sounds it seems Mehrdad and Amanda were blamed for this and yet Eales and the CFO carry on. They were and are in charge of the club too.
-
Yet Eales gets to survive this without any blow back? Or the CFO? What about SIlverstone and his commercial work? We have been shit sellers for ages, but we all knew that.
-
I’ll say this over and over and over again and I don’t even care… What has Paul Mitchell done for NUFC this summer that gives him ANY benefit of the doubt over the words of Eddie Howe? If you still back Mitchell first then you’ve got the shortest of memories.
-
Transfer strategy alone doesn’t tell the PSR story; it also has to include commercial revenues. Which isn’t Howe’s remit. And you all say it wasn’t fit for purpose because we had to scramble to sell 2 players, yet ignores all the good with Bruno, Botman, Isak, Gordon….
-
And further. Eddie’s work here is the only relevant thing you can look at. He earned it. Mitchell cocked up his first window and needs to show he can build unity amongst the coaching team and fans. He needs to deliver on his name and show up here. That may come in time and I hope it does.
-
kaka, I love your passion and love your takes on footie talent. But we are fundamentally different on this topic. I was excited about Mitchell’s arrival and his pedigree but he is never in a million years going to supersede the work Howe has done here. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I’m a manager and players guy first. Suits very very last.
-
^100%. This. Let’s remember who the players play for, why they signed for us, and who is training them everyday.
-
I really don’t know what a sporting director who’s failed to sign a CB from palace and it have gone so publicly bad has done to give you the need to defend him so passionately when the manager who was instrumental in bringing us our top end talent is now being told by the likes of you to focus on coaching again. You can’t be serious.
-
Howe said they spoke everyday during the transfer window, not anymore. Which is fine to him.
-
Howe has earned the chance to do what he pleases and say what he wants. Whether measured or not. suggesting otherwise is absolutely poor form.
-
I watched it, finally. I’m less concerned about fall out and will remain cautious. He actually looked as relaxed as i have seen him in a while. I do not trust Mitchell at this point though. He has to earn it and show us he’s taking this club forward. His resume speaks for itself but at this point all we know is he failed to get Guehi done despite meeting with Parish in person and telling Howe he’s got it.
-
I guess I need to watch the press conference. Iike I said before, just feel like regardless if the journalists are making a meal out of this, it’s a completely unnecessary thing the club have gotten themselves into. Howe joined us before Mitchell, Eales and Bunce. Howe has given practically his life to this job, Howe has given the fans belief, Howe attacks every match with the goal of winning, and Howe respects the supporters and is a class act on and off the football field. I’m backing him over any suit who thinks they know any better.
-
Eales and Mitchell can fuck right off. Literally this is the most STUPID thing the club could have done. We are early doors in this season and they have created a problem for absolutely no reason at all.
-
Time to buck the trend.
-
How dare Anthony Gordon look up to world class athletes who have self belief. Honestly what I find so great about AG is that he answers each question; but actually it was the post match interview where he just looked bloody happy.
-
Poor Chelsea, playing at Wembley if they have to knock down Stamford Bridge.
-
^tl;dr it isn’t that serious. I get the sense the entire huff and puff with AG was him being so fucking angry he didn’t get a chance to show himself at the euros and having genuine depression over it and he looks more himself in the England appearance than he did for us so far this season. I suspect we’ll see our AG we love this Sunday.
-
Gordon’s demeanor, and how he speaks is very akin to an elite American athlete. It’s no surprise he follows a ton of American sport (watch or read his interviews). It’s a self belief and hunger. He may not have had the James Milner media training, or the carefree Cole Palmer style; he’s indeed a different human being. Rather then pigeon hole every young British athlete just celebrate the individuality. You don’t want humans not being themselves, particularly one who is literally only cutting down the former manager who slighted him and benched him after the entire European press / British press wondered why he wasn’t starting and asked about it every single week.
-
More or less this imho. at this point if he moves on, it should only be January if we’re signing another capable RB.
-
Seems weirdly shit for us to only have 3 home games from matchday 1 to then.
-
I don’t agree. You don’t play him over Foden or Palmer who are better 10s for England. You play him as a box to box next Rice. Hes very fortunate in his club role with the likes of Vini, Rodrygo, Kroos, Valverde, Tchou, (now KM).
-
FYI, Jamie Reuben is still on the board and he was massively influential in the Howe move too.
