I'd imagine we have few scouts and many, many, many intermediaries/contacts that Carr and Norma/n use.

People tend to just believe the press stories that Carr and Pardew got along or w/e when he's quoted as such - again, he's not going to just come out and say "I think he's an arrogant cunt" just like the current players etc. It's just not proper professional way to behave - Pardew may actually do that because, well, he actually is a big arrogant cunt.

Also no doubt whoever is advising Carver - he's openly telling the world he's capable and ready and worked for these great managers etc etc etc so that in the event a lower league club needs a manager, he's not ever overlooked again and his name is in the running. Ala many of the lower league managers who were former assistants. I assume he's done being a #2 and he's trying to convince the world that he's ready to be a #1. The club probably don't see him as such at Newcastle but don't really give a fuck to tell him to shut his gob either. Just a hypothesis.

All this Carver nonsense could be bargaining chip to Garde or the "external candidates" - make them think that its a possibility they may not actually get the job.

I almost feel like Carver's constant reminder to the press is all part of him trying to get into the thinking of a Championship or lower level PL club job. Say it enough, people will believe it.

Just an observation, but Seems like a generation of Dutch players are ALL getting into management and/or coaching of some kind (Cocu, De Boer bros, Bergkamp, Kluivert, RVN etc) But generally the same generation of say English players are not - they get into media.

I don't know why, nor can I explain why. But I love this post. And just reading the descriptions of such, I want them all to join Garde ASAP. I think we've reached the point where we've gone beyond comparing any potential new managers to Pardew and are now comparing them to Garde True enough, I was trying to compare to other supposed candidates tbh I get what you mean though. Just to piggyback off my previous point though, Koeman only won 22 games out of 58 in his spells at Valencia and Alkmaar. Now he looks the f***ing bees knees at Southampton, I'd say that results are more about circumstances of the situation more than anything. Yep, made that point yesterday I believe about Garde and having to deal with PSG Qatari Investment, and 1-off anomaly teams like Lille and Montpelier led by excellent managers in Garcia and Girard.
