Bayern Munich 1-1 Chelsea - Chelsea win on pens - TRIFFIC
The College Dropout replied to Mike's topic in Football
Barcelona thoroughly deserved their Champions League win last year, what Chelsea have done this year isn't much better than Greece 2004 except they have an astronomical wage bill that would suggest they might fancy approaching a Champions League final with a plan beyond defending for their lives. Bang on. My sentiments exactly. Greece in 2004 was the greatest achievement i'v ever seen from a football side. -

Yes there is. 5th is the only league position that is meant to go to the Europa league. The other 2 are for the cup competitions. 6th in the league is not a European spot whilst 4th is a CL spot. -
Paul Lambert appointed manager of Aston Villa
The College Dropout replied to AlanSkÃrare's topic in Football
Not really like. He'll need to have done something amazing at Villa to get the Utd. job. I'm sure Brucey thought he might get that job one day. Fergie absolutely loves Solskjær, though. Surely not to the point that he puts his dynasty and own reputation in jeopardy to get him the job? If Solskjær does well at Villa, I wouldn't be surprised tbh. I recall an interview where Fergie said Solskjær was the one of his former players he believed would become a good manager. This. Remember that interview, too. He'll have to do very well though. Top 6 at a minimum which is a big task. Can't see Fergie convincing the Man Utd. hierarchy to let a midtable manager take over the job and I doubt he'd suggest it. He must see big potential in OSG but he's got to go a long way to fulfil it before he gets the big job. -
Champions League Final 2012 - pre-match thread

It hurts to say but if Spurs qualify and sign 1 or 2 added players, they will be an excellent outfit. -

Chelsea is not far too off either..We finished above them ffs The problem is that Chelsa will not get the best players if they fail to qualify. And abrahimovich is not the kind of person that phases out. He became rich by being brutal and corrupt. Abrahimovich wants players like Falcao. But Falcao is not interested in playing in a tournament he's just won, regardless of how much money Abrahimovich ipays him. There will be clubs out there that will give Falcao both CL and a solid pay. That's not really true like. Money talks. Only a handful of clubs can match Chelsea for wages. Toure, Tevez etc. signed for City without them ever being in the CL from 2 of the biggest clubs in the world. That's true. But is Abrahimivich willing to caugh 100s of millions once AGAIN. The man is rich, £10 billion, but he is essentially keeping the club afloat. Last year Chelsea had a deficit of £67 mill. The squad needs a total overhaul and they are in danger of missing out on the money motherload: CL. If he wants to compete with City (The Sheikh is worth twice as much) he must be willing to fork out a shitload of money, but still he's not guaranteed results because City has even more money. When he bought Chelsea he was the first to literally buy himself to success. This is not possible anymore. Hopefully Chelsea will implode if they don't win. And Harry will f*** up the qualification .. Yes, he has no other option and he's shown no signs that he'll stop investing. He's not going to quit now. Teams can only have 25 players so whilst they may miss out on targets (Pastore to PSG for example) he can still blow 90% of teams away to land the likes of Mata & Fernando Torres. He spent a shitload to get AVB in last year and he let him go in under a year, if money was a big factor he would've stuck with AVB for a couple years to give his investment a chance. He didn't. I don't understand your logic. He's been investing shitloads into that club for 8-9 years and has done so every season without fail. Why would he stop now? They lose, he buys big. Chelsea are a European giant now, Bayern were in the Europa a few years back but still had better "pull" than most clubs in Europe to sign players. They win, he still buys big but might actually show some patience for once to rebuild the squad, that is it. As long as he's alive, Chelsea will be in the running. Spurs on the other hand are reliant on CL revenue streams. They'll have to let 2 players go at a minimum and replace them with less reputable players. Your logic is flawed son. -

Couldn't see that. Dalglish is an icon to them, spanning decades of involvement. Solskjaer is more just a cult hero. Couldn't see that get in the way of the majority of fans' feelings if they're slipping away. But yeah, I can't wait to see who Man Utd shoot for when Ferguson goes, want to see if they balls it up. Almost certainly be Mourinho imo. -
Europa League & other cup competitions should be our priority imo.

How long does he have on his contract? Wouldn't want him wasting time on the bench but would like to keep him on the books for the next few years incase somethig happens to Krul.
-
Madness that people who are set up for life financially would want to start a family. Quite the opposite? A huge reason for NOT having children is not being able to afford them, why not? Not sure all of them are married either.

It's over for Essien unless he can adapt quickly to losing the running power in his legs.

Would put all our eggs in the Cups next year.

Our 4-4-2 is solid as f***, that's why. With Tiote/Cabaye in the middle. Everybody protects each other in that position. The CM's are positionally superb in the formation. It takes something special to break us down with that formation and that's what Toure did. Use it on the odd occasion? We are 5th and we've used it for 80% of the season. Against weaker sides, especially at home. The 4-2-3-1 is a hit. But otherwise. 4-4-2 and be solid as fuck. -
Likes the ball ahead of him.. a few times he told Ba to play it ahead of him.
-
Understandably he's not the fittest lad atm. His tracking back takes a lot from his legs.

Tired as the game went on. Unfortunately, we don't have many players of his calibre on the bench. -
Will we qualify for the Champions League? Sadly not...

Starting to look the part? He's had 2 goals and an assist in 3 semi-finals and now a Cup Final goal. Been a standout performer.
