Shay Given At Fault For Both Goals

Goalkeepers have the ability the ability to relieve the defence by coming and collecting crosses...Shay doesn't do this and subsequently adds pressure to the already VERY fragile defence. But a goalie can't make crap players good. Thank you for your contribution and thoughtful criticism of the subject discussed. Lets put it this way. Let's assume that I gave you 10m to get a goalie. (****, that's pretty silly money for a 'keeper even) Name one that would come here and would be a significant improvement over Shay. Eh? Does this mean whenever Shay makes a mistake he shouldn't be criticized because we can't find a better alternative. Anyway I'll probably get lynched for this I reckon David James or even Jens Lehmann are better goalkeepers than Shay. -

I agree that Given should be either the last, or second last player to be blaming for our season, but he should still be blamed. I agree with that. He's a good player no doubt but he is not blameless. Read before you reply. The defenders played the part as everyone has already said. However Shay has gone uncriticized despite the ball going through his 6 yard box. THE GOALIE MUST COMMAND HIS 6 YARD AREA, any touch from there and the ball is likely to go in the net. The defenders were shambolic but Shay isn't the magnificent goalkeeper we often make out. I never said it was his fault but he played a part which goes by unnoticed. Taylor was at fault for letting the cross come in but it's Shay's job to anticipate a mistake by atleast taking a bloody step forward...a striker should anticipate a mistake from a defender as should a goalkeeper. I admit for the second goal I am reaching alittle but the fact remains that the ball practically went through Shay and he was basically standing inside his goal but for a man the size of Shay to come through a pack of that size would be very hard. I'm not blaming his but he isn't as blameless as people believe. -

I've been saying for a long time that Shay's line dwelling costs us goals. Practically all the defenders played a part in their first goal but the ball travelled across the 6 yard box where Shay should really come off his line. Similar story with the second goal. From the position of the header any shot on target would most likely go in. Shay has always played a part in our poor defensive displays.

Of course.

Aye but a huge liability all the same. The lad has been sent off like 3 or 4 times in his career already. The lad is white Bramble II

wtf happened to him? At Blackburn he was immense. Went to Chelski and had his moments...

Given was more to blame for the first goal than anyone else.

Taylor was horrendous Huntington is taking the RW to court over rape allegations. Solano was just shit.

Taylor was worse..... to be fair, what he really needs to do is to cut down on his schoolboy errors. And after all, he really is still a school boy... He isn't 16. He had a hand in the first goal and should've got sent off. -

Binge eating and pre-ejaculating tonight Pathetic really...AZ aren't even that good. -
Is my picture larger than most just because it's my user or because of my Grandmaster status on Newcastle-Online?

Spurs choking?

Depends on the opposition and who is available to us. With Owen back he'd have to play a loose RM position because i don't think he has the discipline for the CM role.

No your not

Barton is a wanker no doubt but he's nowt compared to his brother.
-
True if he's any good he'll be off soon although I think Mark Hughes would be the first British manager on the list for the Manure job.

Signed Emile Heskey for £6M odd and bought Clinton Morrison + Andy Johnson the other way.

Still fancy Blackburn to make the final for some reason (well for £50)
