I see what you mean. Haven't been particularly emphatic performances though. I suppose the question is why we can't seem to get up for it enough to steamroller a team. Other teams have certainly steamrolled us. They did it because they were better and also highly motivated. When we're better, are we motivated enough to truly turn another team over? Not really. Winning tight is the Pardew way. It has nothing to do with motivation.

Basically what happened to us during the relegation season. We kept the nucleus of our team and they are what brought us up on the first attempt. The mackems have half their squad on contracts ending at the end of the season, and a few of the better players will probably want away in any case if they do go down. Coupled with the fact that not many good players will want to join a relegated team, their situation could well be a lot different to ours. We kept the nucleus of *a team, not really the lads that got us relegated. We sold/released our first choice strikers, first choice LW, RB, CB etc. what we had left we kept and built around.

Tbh Jamie Carragher's pretty good. Souness sometimes doesn't know what he's talking about at all but he has his moments.

Someone told me Anita is s*** cos the team conceded 10 goals in 2 matches with him in and that Cisse is s*** cos he can't do defensive headers. Great idiot that it. Never said he was shit. I actually said I wanted him to have a prolong run in the first team. However , there's absolutely no proof we look more secure defensively with Anita ahead of Cabaye/Tiote.

The were robbed at Chelsea. Clarke should've tightened up against Villa and they could've got the victory there. Fine margins like that and suddenly he's in trouble. Had they taken 6 points instead of 2 from those games they are midtable.

Ability wise? IMO he has Speed beat. Mentally/consistency that's another issue. In that Bobby side Cabaye would take Speed's place.
