The mastermind died though. There’s non footballing context for the regression.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
The College Dropout replied to Rich's topic in Football
Chelsea are shit with the worst manager in the league. The problem is our own nerves and performances. If we need to win it would mean we’ve won 1 in the last 4 before it and have Liverpool winning 8 in a row most likely. -
Southampton had a Swiss owner - he took them from administration in league 1 all the way to the Premierleague. He died soon after but his daughter took over the running of the business and got them to 4 consecutive top half finishes in the PL after back to back promotions. She sold a controlling share to some Chinese consortium and they’ve been battling relegation ever since. She sold off her last 20% this season and now they are relegated. Leicester. Similar story. League 1. Thai owner. Premier league champs. Owner dies tragically. Family business is in disarray. The important thing here is that the nascent follows an owner leaving.

Saved us with that penalty save. Thoufht he could’ve done better on the 1st though.

I think Isak should’ve held his run. Still… 0 goals. 0 assists.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League

It will be in our own hands if we beat Leicester. If we don’t beat Leicester we have bottled it anyway. The Brighton result matters in terms of momentum and confidence. It’s not a free hit. This much is obvious. -

If we don’t get it we’ve utterly bottled it. We should get there and I still expect us too. We are substantially better than Leicester and Chelsea. -
I’m so annoyed by the Estupiam benching. He was in my team ahead of the Liverpool assets - I read a few articles then changed my mind last minute. praying for a random injury to TAA or Salah.

You know how people accept that the Liverpool Suarez team bottled it or Arsenal last season bottled the top 4. That would be the defining narrative of the season and a unanimous L. That sticks with teams and managers. -

Aye. Biggest concern is bottle, not playing well since Longstaff injury, lack of clean sheets and the bad Brighton matchup. If we perform to our level - we beat Leicester and Chelsea. They are most susceptible to our style of play. -
De Zerbi could get a top Job in Italy this summer. If not - a better job then Spurs will open up in the PL. Tony Bloom owns a a Belgium team I had never heard of that was in the Conference league QF’s. He’s one of the best owners in Europe. He’s not going to sack DeZerbi. He gave Hughton 2 years in the PL and only sacked him in the summer. He kept Potter for the 2 years where results were only marginally better than Hughton. Bloom has taken Brighton from L1 to Europa League most likely. He’s the architect of their success.

Benching Etsu is likely to cost me big time. I had half a chance of winning the NO league.
-
If we play our usual tactics it plays into Brightons hands.
-
IMO it doesn’t matter much. Brighton believe in themselves and will play same way. Biggest thing is how we play and adjust our tactics.
-
Nah. They lack quality and decisiveness in both boxes. That part isn’t an accident.
-
It’s a bad match up unless Eddie tweaks things. Im so angry we conceded early goals against Arsenal and Leeds. Doesn’t take much to get thr nerves going.

Leeds United 2-2 Newcastle United (13/05/2023)

Aye. Pope doesn’t make theirs penalty saves and we are likely behind Liverpool as it stands. Margins. -
Fair. They’ve actually contributed meaningfully. So for that alone I would start one of them. And bring Gordon on against tired legs. I like that ASM, Gordon double sub tbh. Had we not conceded so quickly, those 3 with Isak would’ve got another goal.

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Wish we got in another CM and Let this lad play regular football in the Championship. I’m sure he’s enjoyed the ride but it has been a bit of a wasted year In his career development. What is likely to be a 20-year career at best. -
Yeh I like him best off the bench.

Think we scored early at West Ham. But they were better up until that point. Early ish goal at Everton but similar play. -
What’s he done to earn a start?
-
No applied pressure either. Just weak goals. Trippier made several mistakes leading to both goals too. This is the frustrating thing. You can see it coming so we should mitigate it. The first order of the day would be - keep the crowd quiet for 30 minutes. No cheap goals. No belief. Nothing to hang onto. 6 minutes - half an attack = goal. Frustrating man. Same thing once we went into the lead. Leeds and the crowd offered nothing for 11 minutes, we looked the more likely to score. HALF an attack = goal.
