In terms of international competitions, it's still eclipsed by the Euros in that regard. IMO. But yeah, it doesn't get any better than this. I'm not sure the Euro eclipses it tbh. I think the World Cup has shown recently that teams all over the world are much closer to the UEFA now than they used too in terms of quality. I mean sure group stages the Euros is stronger but that's also because it's only 16 teams, but compare the quarter-finals in the WC to the quarter-finals in the Euros and I think the standard in the WC is much better.

Biggest and most important no doubt, but not sure it has a higher quality than the Champions League tbh although it is far more exciting.

I don't know who's at fault, but if the Guardians picture about the pitch in Manaus being in that state than it's a shame. I that the pitch was in excellent conditions when FIFA took over the stadium officially mid-may, but not sure whether they're responsible for the pitch or not. No matter what, if that's the way the pitch will look like then we're going to get some real complains. Extremely embarrassing for everyone involved.

Yeah, this guy is always quality to read. It is good to see someone who seems genuinely informed and watches matches, especially involving teams outside of the popular ones in Europe and South America. His Nigeria analysis was 100 percent correct. His Brazilian tactical analysis was good and pretty much spot-on, but his individual understanding of some players and some factual errors did my head in. Will go on to read some other teams that I've followed quite a lot over the last few years and see if I agree with them. Given that you agree with the Nigerian it will be interesting to see his analysis of them as I've followed almost zero African football these few years.
