  1. I don't think I saw a Brighton game this year, but just a year ago, I thought this guy was one of the worst defenders I've seen in a long time when he was beaten by Antony for the entirety of the Olympics final. Now he's going for £63m. Damn. Shouldn't trust my judgement ever again.
  2. Why is TCD getting singled out, when people repeat themselves over and over again on here? Genuine question. Christ. *put him on ignore if it's psychotic to you
  3. Agree. Think Cornet for the money and his versatility makes a lot of sense. He'd probably start as the RW in our side, but he'd also offer depth at striker, both winger positions and even at left back if absolutely needed. Cornet + a player like Maddison (or Paqueta despite us seemingly not being in for him) would exceed all expectations I had for the summer. I do think Cornet is a no brainer at this point in time.
  4. Not that long. Roughly a few days.
  5. I really really like Maddison and wouldn't mind us bidding £60m for him (not my money hey) but I don't agree. Where and who would he displace in each of those sides if they're playing the same formation and tactics as of today?
  6. Or maybe, Maddison is just a tad better of a player than those two?
  7. Ouff. Need to get this sorted. Prefer this guy to Paqueta given that he is proven in this league. The most exciting player we've been linked to for ages apart from Raphinha for me.
  8. I love Maddison and think a bid around £50-55m would be fair (although we all know that market doesn't work like that). But @The College Dropout you are bang out of order suggesting he's better than Raphinha
  9. Our midfield is definitely not a crowded area. We have only one who is a surefire starter in this league. If Joelinton can sustain his form this season then we have two. Whoever is the third man in, isn't good enough for a top 10 push. Add to that, an injury to Bruno and I fear we're back to being absolute dreadful in the middle. Also, Bruno has been playing as a deep lying playmaker aka Shelveys position for the pre-season, hasn't he?
  10. James Maddison would be a ridculously good signing. I say spend big on him, I can survive six-twelve months with Willock/Fraser/Almiron playing on the RW if we get Maddison.
  11. Cornet at £17.5 or whatever is a very good bit of business. Versatile and has shown he can score in this league. More than happy if this frees up money to buy another player. But if he's the last piece of business of this window, then surely no one can be happy about it?

    Joelinton

Let me save the day. He actually corrects himself, so he never finishes that sentence. He basically says ''Steve is a great coa....Steve is a great person.''
  13. I might be biased here, but Paqueta is more talented than both of those players. I also believe the gap between wingers at lower price and higher is smaller than for central midfielders or someone like Paqueta, who in addition would be great for Bruno who right now along with Trippier is one of our two best players.
  14. Ambition of playing in Europe, five subs and clubs refusing to sell their good players for a reasonable sum means we should aim to get two players from the likes of Dennis, Cornet and Sarr or other in that £15-25m mould and then splash the cash on another Brazilian in Paqueta.
  15. What an absolute great signing, but how the heck can they afford it and is the plan Raphinha on the right, Dembele on the left? @Village Idiot please explain.
  16. Haven't watched much of Cornet, but a guy that scored 9 in 26 for a poor Burnley in the PL at £17.5m and who can play in multiple positions seems like a no-brainer.
  17. You again. No, I mean as it wouldn't have been weird at all if he really would've preferred to join Milan over us. Just like Raphinha prefers Barcelona over Chelsea, but might turn out to play for Chelsea because that's the only bid Leeds is accepting. Jeez.
  18. This is such a weird take for me. It' the same as the Botman and Milan story, except Arsenal is actually filled with young and exciting players. If there's a time to join Arsenal since Wenger it's now. They haven't been in this good of a place in over a decade, with a team doing well, only finishing two points out of CL football despite having a very young team. Our transfer dealings this summer doesnt really suggest, let's go challenge for the CL in the near future (maybe that changes in the next month or so...) In addition their club structure is 10 times more appealing than ours is, and for most foreigners I'd imagine London is more appealing than Newcastle as well.
  19. Eh, even signing him we wouldn't even have the best defence in this league.
  20. One of them is the GOAT.
  21. He's not been shocking, but nowhere near the standard I expected from watching them week in week out. Has a great shot on him, but a part from that he's nothing special in my honest opinion. Have a feeling he'd be another Albert Luque for some reason.
  22. In a dysfunctional team everyone is going to have trouble creating.
  23. Harsh. Not his biggest fan, but there are far worse players in our squad. Him and Fraser are fine for backup and league cup games if we want to finish 8-12th.
