Ooh, a quiz. Onyewu? Beasley Edu Latter two are right, one's still currently playing in the Champions League (this is a giveaway hint) and the other played for Crystal Palace and Birmingham at the beginning of the millennium. Jermain Jones. Have no idea about the other one.

Donovan? Reyna? They've played in the CL no?

Lack of punishment, I mean, only four have been arrested this far for the actions yesterday. 3 of them are charged with attempted murder, but I'll bet plenty of money that none of them will get any jail time. Brazil has an extremely lenient juridical system.

I think the line in quotation marks can absolutely explain some of that daft stuff. Being off the pace is an obvious one in a league transition and poor decision making also. The red cards I agree, thats just frustration and stupidity on his behalf. The frustration could've easily stemmed from being a second or two too late due to a higher tempo. Most defenders need time to adapt. Glad he's improving for every game.
-
This might be a 0-0 game or 1-1. Low scoring, they'll control the tempo, we'll sit back and won't create anything. Willo to have another game of his life.

If Ponte Preta wins the Sudamericana I'll be shocked. They should've lost the first tie and are playing the most in-form side in Argentinian football.

Fred - ''First, second, third...I'll play whereever Fluminense are playing'' referring to being relegated to the second division. Already nailed his spot in the World Cup team anyways. So Vasco, Fluminense are relegated with Nautico and Ponte Preta. While Atletico PR and Botafogo joins Gremio and Cruzeiro as well as Flamengo for the Libertadores. (unless Atletico PR are deducted points for what happened today)

How is that relevant to the World Cup in any way? Worry over what? I've already stated in the other thread that there was a total lack of police, there was actually zero police in the stadium because the organizers decided that in a game involving two teams in a must win wouldn't cause any troubles. 3 steward-securities on each side of the Vasco fans and then nothing. This won't be the case in the World Cup. I'm not defending these actions or Brazilian violent culture in any way, but I remember last time there in South Africa people talked about the same stuff, completely taking away the fact that British and German fans are usually the most disgraceful ones in international tournaments and that in Poland in the Euros the Russians completely embarrassed themselves. In the World Cup, security will be at max, when I saw Brazil - England at Maracana, there was 50 police at every corner plus military troops patrolling the area, and this was for a friendly. This game today was due to some idiotic young men and idiotic event organizers. As for the game going ahead, the decision was apparently made by the police according to law, they had restored order and they were the ones to decide the game should continue. South America is consistently the worst for football violence. Say what you want but it's not as prevalent in Britain, especially within the stadia. Same in Germany. The organisers for this game will likely be involved in the World Cup, no? As POOT says, it's another case of major violence in the lead up to a world cup. It's not improved over the last few years, if anything it's getting worse. I wouldn't think these organizers have anything to do with the World Cup no Don't remember many being worried about this happening in Poland /Ukraine. Don't remember anyone saying shit about what happened between English, German and even Polish fans for most part of the 2006 World Cups. Like I said, problem here was total lack of security and police, and Baba makes a huge point as well.

How is that relevant to the World Cup in any way? Because it's major violence in the run up to the World Cup in the country that's hosting the World Cup. Pretty simple, really. Don't take it so personally. Not taking it personally, was the same discussion going into the WC in South Africa.

In general or today? Police arrived and started shooting with rubbet bullets, stopped rapidly after they arrived. Problem is it was a private organized event, not even at Atletico PRs homeground and the event organizers had only put police outside the stadium. Embrassing, fortunately (if you can use that word today) is that at the World Cup there will be enough police and military to make sure our country isn't embarrassed in the eyes of the world. Sensible Vasco fans were hoping they'd just leave the pitch and be relegated, in a day like this not many care about football. Images of young men being stamped on and hit with iron pipes because of 11 men and a football rolling on the floor. well you were saying it's commonplace though. Is there much of club fines? This is an exception due to the size and type of violence. Usually there are tons of police that calms down such troubles fast.
-
They've also been hit with the death of Chucho. But I still think they have enough in their team to beat Honduras, and give Switzerland and France a game.

One confirmed dead, and three others in serious conditions. Just can't believe it.
-
Fuck me, those images are horrible. Young men lying unconscious on the floor while opposing fans jump on their heads and kick them. Worst part is, 99% of those involved will escape unpunished. Embarrassing.
-
Think all South American teams are going past their group.
-
Horrible images, disturbing and I can't believe it's happening. Unfortunately it's a recurring problem in all of South America.

Fluminense don't depend on themselves. A win here will require a Sao Paulo comeback.. They're down. Funnily enough it's about time they play in Serie B, in 2000 they went from Serie C to Serie A due to some stuff that happened so they didn't have to play in Serie B. Two Carioca teams most likely going down. Bad for their teams.
-
Karagounis Players look like they give a shit, had some decent attacking play under Jol as well tbf. Just couldn't defend for shit.

Don't you fucking dare. You'll jinx it big time for me you dick.
