That’s one bonus I suppose. It should end the hideous ‘Shearer turned you down’ song.

To be fair, if it’s on the cheap he’s a lot better than Longstaff and would hardly be a long term option. Suspect a signing like this would be more to tide us over than anything. We’ve already fucked the window and we do need options. It might be better than spending tens of millions on someone we don’t really want, then not having the money to spend on someone we do want in a future window.
-
They couldn’t wait to replace him.
-
To be fair, we’re going to need 4 or 5 defenders over the next 2-3 years. We need back ups as well as starters. Age is quite important.
-
Jackson for £60m and Chelsea not far off doubling their money on someone who has failed is pretty mind blowing. Especially as it puts him in the ballpark of Šeško and Ekitike in transfer fee.
-
I hope you’re right. To me, the next couple of weeks are pivotal though. If we can’t get players in, I think this ends up being one of those windows like after finishing 3rd 20 or so years ago, and 5th in 2012. I don’t think we can compete on all fronts as it is and the league form will suffer most. In the medium to long term we’ve got too many players 30+ and if we cannot cope with all the games and finish somewhere like 8th to 10th (which I think is entirely possible), the sharks will be all over our better players like Tino, Hall and Tonali. Would players like Bruno and Botman want to go back to the start of a ‘new project’ again. The new CEO and DoF could be tasked with a total rebuild. That’s my fear anyway. That this summer was the opportunity to push on and consolidate. To date we’ve totally wasted it. Something which could set the club back years again.

Can see PIF sanctioning a huge bid for Jackson. Would help Chelsea a lot.
-
If we don’t make some signings we might as well put the reserves out throw it anyway. 😂 We won’t be able to cope with both league and CL.
-
So if they’ve changed managers and the new one wants him to stay, what are we even bothering for? It just makes it look like others are well down the target list when we go scrambling again. It’s a complete shit show.
-
I want Isak gone tbh, to get some positivity back and remove the stink around the club. But I can’t really see a striker who’d be good enough coming in to replace him now to allow that to happen. The remaining options are pretty uninspiring.
-
Nobody forced us to change our transfer policy. It’s been a total disaster.
-
A couple of injuries to key players and we look very ordinary.
-
It’s not some kind of conspiracy. Chelsea had been linked with Pedro before we went for him. Likewise Liverpool and Ekitike. Man Utd have been looking at Šeško for years. We didn’t get beyond a general interest in Mbeumo and Cunha and Trafford had a clause. Delap had the choice of about 5 clubs. We’ve simply gone after players that they want too and our bids have forced the issue. I suspect it might be the same with Guehi to Liverpool.
-
Given the answer hasn’t been quick, you’d suspect there’s still a lot of persuasion going on behind the scenes. Maybe some changes to the add ons we are offering. It had been said Man Utd’s were easier to achieve.

Grow up.

He praised a manager who had a pretty good record and reputation before Man Utd. It’s hardly out of order. I know people get upset at missed targets but no need to take hissy fits.
-
Not sure it’s much of a gloat tbh. People seem quite touchy when another fan dares comment. He’s hardly Goldburg.
-
Weirdly, I think the striker targets have been improving. Delap being the exception. I’d probably go: Sesko Delap Ekitike Pedro I’m not sure where you go next though. For now, Watkins would sit above them all but I cannot see Villa selling to us and it would be a temporary solution. Jackson at £80m would be bottom of my list above.
-
Yeah, but we do need someone. Some of the other ‘targets’ are pretty uninspiring now.
-
If he’s going to choose Man Utd, just bid an extra €10m more so they have to match it. For fun.
-
I can’t really blame the club for this one. It was worth trying. More annoyed by targets earlier in the summer.
-
Isak is sullied for me. He was as soon as this all kicked off. The only reason I’d be making noises about keeping him is to keep the price high or to take the hit and show players and clubs we can’t be taken the piss out of. Ideally for me, we’d get the two strikers and then spend on a quality CB and CM.
-
If this happens, I still think Wissa asap is important too. Ignore the price tag and it’s a 22 year old in a new country who will likely need time to settle. It’s why I think Man Utd would be a bad move for him given what happens to young attacking players signing there now.

Exclusive, all outcomes are possible. Ha. Hopefully it happens and it’s the momentum shift we need. Back to watching Hearts and not scrolling pointlessly.
