Decent up the back of Gallowgate I thought. More and more people are starting to stand further along towards the Milburn in the back few rows.
-
Finishing behind these Spurs and Man Utd teams would be a failure, regardless of squad costs.
-
We’re not going to do anything in January, let’s be honest. We’d probably need to sell someone from a position of weakness, then overspend.
-
Exactly. We weren’t far off Liverpool around that time. They replaced Houllier at the right time and brought in an ambitious replacement. We totally fucked it, made a mess off it, did it at the wrong time and brought in a truly horrendous replacement. ‘Sacking Bobby’, wasn’t the issue.
-
What’s ’Sir Bobby all over again’ supposed to mean. Are the people talking this nonsense 20 and been listening to Mackems?
-
Let’s be honest, regardless of the whole Guehi shambles, he was correct in the summer. The transfer business has been nowhere near good enough after the first window and Isak/Gordon.
-
Unfortunate as he’s been amazing for us in the past, but I think it’s time to look elsewhere.
-
Well he didn’t write on his socks or his shirt, did he. He’s deliberately chose not to clarify it either, despite clearing making his own statement. Again, this is different from just choosing not to wear it which should be perfectly fine. Nobody should be forced to actively support something. Guehi has done something different. I actually don’t think any action should be taken against him as the whole campaign is a farce, but people have a right to judge him for actively deciding to do what he has done.
-
I actually hate what’s going on here. It should be an optional thing for one week or something. Those deciding to wear them should be actively making a decision to do it to show support. Because of the way the Premier League play it, with the media then pointing fingers and trying to get debate going around it, it just means that the statement is NOT wearing it, rather than people wearing it to show support. I’ve no idea what Bruno thinks and if he’s actually showing support for example. I have no issue with what the Ipswich lad is doing. Nobody should be forced to show support for anything. I do think Guehi is being a bit of a prick though. Just don’t wear it if you don’t want to show support. It’s petulant and pathetic. Anyway, the most annoying thing here for me is because it looks like this campaign is being forced on players rather than it being a choice, it becomes another one of these culture way/identity politics issues. It’s hardly a wonder there’s a backlash to this kind of thing when people are being shamed for not toeing the line expected of them.
-
Can only imagine myself being annoyed whatever happens tomorrow.
-
To be fair, I think most of us talk about football with other fans away from the football forum and Twitter. There’s a good section of the people I know starting to ask questions and think about who might replace him. I wouldn’t say it’s nowhere near.
-
I’m not having that personally. They’re rightly criticised for not strengthening in the summer, but this manager has basically had two new England international full backs (who’ve been a couple of our best players) and Tonali an Italian international starter introduced over the past few months. Two things can be true at the same time.
-
We’ve played well three or four times, and one of them was against Chelsea reserves. Even Wimbledon was shite. If the manager wants to stay, he needs to figure out what we’re trying to do. Given the money spent and the players in the squad, this is far from good enough. Im not saying ‘Eddie Out’ but the board wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t starting to look elsewhere.
-
Yeah pretty humiliating that day, though probably the best individual performance I’ve seen against us live at SJP.
-
Awful last night, even before West Ham scored.
-
He supports Man Utd, so he isn’t leaving for his ‘boyhood club’. 😂
-
True. Though I’d never have believed we’d spend the whole summer chasing Marc Guehi and then put a desperate bid in for the Forest boy on deadline day.
-
Our targets seem so obvious now it’s getting boring. We’re like a 15 year old playing football manager.
-
There’s no chance that the owners are going to let Howe be in charge of everything. He goes before Mitchell.
-
Like I said, I think it’s a bit over the top, but we’re only 5 points better off than skint Everton over 38 games, have had dreadful away form being explained away as needing the crowd behind the team and have failed in the crunch matches like Milan at home and Man Utd away. We’ve got numerous players now we’ve spent £40m plus on and have spent hundreds of millions. Cup performances have gone back to what we saw in yesteryear. Blackburn and Wimbledon were very poor performances and we went out to City without making it a game.
-
Like pretty much everyone does. “Isaks a bit off form eh?” “WHAT, can you not remember Rivière?!!!”
-
Absolute drivel. If we draw with Bournemouth, are we not to say anything negative to sum up the performance because we got shagged off Carlisle in 1982 or Scunthorpe in 2009. Don’t talk shite. You compare performances now with what has come in recent times.
-
It’s not. I personally think it’s a bit over the top, but there’s clearly context when making a comment like that. You come across pedantic, like you’re trying to win the internet or something.
-
Surely you’re able to grasp the difference in expectations, can take into account how much money has been spent, and you know that you can compare performances with that of games in more recent times. McFaul ffs.
