Is it only us who it gets ‘too late in the day’ for? Why bother considering him if that’s the case. Lots of clubs do late deals.
-
It’s his first window, which he joined half way through. Howe made a power play in Germany. I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibility that they agreed to go with Howes targets for this window.
-
More embarrassing for us obviously, but I wouldn’t exactly say it’s been a success for Palace not taking £70m for him.
-
Don’t agree with this. I think they should give an explanation regarding every transfer window. It’s basic communication for a football club. We can then decide if we’ve been ‘hard done by’ or not. It’s probably the perfect time of the year for the Sporting Director to give an update.

What, the win with 10 men for 70minutes, the away draw to a team who are comfortably midtable, and a pen shoot out win at Forest? Yes. We weren’t great for long periods of the games, but in spells we were good. Were not on top form yet, but we’re not ‘clueless’.
-
I’m inclined to agree that by limiting your targets to a tiny pool has the manager putting himself under pressure, but to say the team is stale and clueless is ridiculous.
-
They need to carry bags of coins between the centre back room at the stadium to the right wing room at the training ground.
-
We have one decent keeper.

Who do I hate as a snake? This is news to me.
-
What, that we didn’t keep bidding higher and higher for Guehi? We’ve had the piss ripped out of us.
-
Why does Mark Chapman not get the presenting job for the PL games? So much better than Kelly Dalgliesh and that mackem.
-
Better last 5 when we’ve actually tried to knock the ball around rather than go straight on the attack and lose it.
-
Pukes had a mess of a transfer window.
-
Regardless of opinions on Schar, he’s well into his 30s. We had one of the oldest teams in the league last season and half of our defence are out of contract in the summer. It would be ridiculous to go without signing a centre back this window.
-
Nearly everything is made up though as we’re not flies on the wall in their transfer meetings. You go on what you see and hear and then give an opinion. I love Eddie Howe and he’s generally been great for us, but that doesn’t mean we have to pretend he’s faultless and Mitchell and Eales are these big baddies as some seem to be suggesting.
-
Howe literally said yesterday he has the final say on transfer targets. He’s talked about on 2 or 3 targets in a few positions. He’s obviously not solely to ‘blame’ if it goes wrong, but this attitude that he’s being hard done to if we don’t make signings is wrong in my opinion.
-
To be fair, Howe has said that he picks the transfer targets. He’s not removed from the process. I doubt Mitchell arrived to spend weeks negotiating Marc Guehi.
-
They probably don’t want this kind of signing in the first place.
-
Like Howe has said, he has the final say on targets and there’s only 2/3 players in the positions we need that we’re interested in.
-
Think so. And we’ll have the income from the players who will want to leave next year after we toil to 8th-10th and no Europe.
-
We’ll need a lot more than two positions next summer if don’t finish in Europe this season. He might be over priced, but we’ve put ourselves in this position and we’ve got little option now.
-
Let’s be honest, mentioning the likes of Sancho is pointless. Howe said in his press conference that he picks the players to target, then it’s the job of others to go and get them. It’s hardly a wonder there a tiny group of players we’d consider.
