  1. If he’s going to stay, given we have nothing to play for now, I’d like to see at least some evidence before the end of the season of what he is going to change to have us moving forward again. If it’s just going to be more of the same tired 433, hoping we’re playing with enough intensity and pressing to do anything, then I’ll have no confidence for this summer. My fear is that this ‘rebuild’ will just be trying to find new players to fit the same system Howe seems wedded to.
  2. That’s the kind of turd polishing that saw people gushing that we played well at Anfield for half an hour. ‘Impressed we’ve done as well as we have’. Give over.
  3. If this is true, it’s very concerning. If they believe all of the plans rely on one manager being in charge, they’re not doing their job properly.
  4. I’m far more worried about what I see in front of me this season than last summers business tbh. Unfortunately I believe this is just delaying the inevitable. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Eddie is willing to change anything.

    Anthony Elanga

He was awful yesterday, but I have less of an issue with that than the cowardly Barnes performance. Or Murphy for their second. Effort is the bare minimum we can expect and it’s not something I would criticise Elanga for.
  6. Sorry, but that’s complete nonsense. It looks like an excuse just to not engage with valid arguments and to dismiss points raised.

    Match Atmosphere

There was a strange mix of applause and boos in the Gallowgate for the ‘lap of honour’. Bruno and a couple others hung back a bit and he got a song and applause after the others had passed.
  8. Why do you keep trying to pin that on those you disagree with? I’m not sure anyone is saying it’s all the managers fault and there’s some good arguments taking everything into account.
  9. Pedro wanted to be in London. Our level of targets was the issue, as was prioritising PL experience. I do like Ramsey, but giving Villa a PSR boost was also ridiculous.
  10. Least surprising news of the day.
  11. It’s not as simple as that though. It’s not just merely lining up the attributes of two managers and ignoring the situation. It’s about how they’ll do going forward. What we’re doing under Howe now, is very different to what we were doing in the past. The question is if and how he can turn the decline around. I’ve no doubt that if he left he’d go on to be a success somewhere else with a fresh start, probably Everton.
  12. Agree with most of the first two paragraphs here. Once it’s gone, it’s gone and I don’t think he’s turning it round again. I’d love nothing more than to be wrong, but I think it’s too much of a risk giving him the summer given how important it is. Id personally be happy with Iraola, certainly over Glasner, but I’d like to think the club have done their homework on other options. Given the position we’ve put ourselves in, next season is already likely to be a transition season with so many changes needed. Expectations would need to be tempered as this season and the lack business/turnover in the squad over the last few years has sent us so far backwards compared to the team challenging the top 5.
  13. I’m not sure he even sulks. It’s just like he finds it hard to get up for some games and he needs the pressure of a big game or stage to perform. You sometimes see in the ‘lesser’ games where he’s performing terribly, then makes a lung busting back track and strong tackle to try and prove he’s interested.
  14. Yeah, with a team that was built nearly three years ago. I’m not sure we’ve improved anywhere since signing Tonali and far too many players are getting towards the end.
  15. We had been making progress, but that’s stopped. It’s probably been nearly two or three years since any actual progress. We basically need to start again in the summer.
  16. Yep. And he’d likely do very well.
  17. He hasn’t though. We’re getting worse as the season is going on, not better. The last three performances are almost as bad as they come. We’ve lost nearly half of our games.
  18. I see positives in the three great CL performances against PSG and the home leg against Barca, but absolutely nothing in the Nou Camp. That’s the same ridiculous argument that some were trying to push that we were brilliant for 35min at Anfield. I love Eddie. I’m 42 and he’s the best manager we’ve had in my life time, but I’m not going to throw all logic out of the window and go all fanboy about him. The club comes first as it always should. Good things come to an end. The only question should be is he the man to be in charge for the huge turn around the squad needs in the summer and build something new after such a lacklustre 12 months.
  19. You can gush with pride at a 7-2 humiliation and being slayed my Fulkrug if you want.
  20. Or, we won 1 game and finished bottom of the group, and were utterly humiliated against Barca after their manager changed things at half time. I think some people are massively overestimating how he is thought of outside of Newcastle. I’d be utterly shocked if Liverpool were to consider him, and their fans certainly wouldn’t be happy.
  21. I’m not sure that’s the winner you think it is.
  22. I’ve taken all of that into account.
  23. I did explain before to be fair. The ownership aren’t going anywhere. Ownership is longer term in a manager in the vast majority of cases. They will be judged on overall direction and on few day to day, week to week decisions due to the nature of what they do. They’ve made mistakes and received a lot of criticism, but again, to what end? Criticising a manager is different. Their tenure is generally shorter and there are far more things to analyse. They will be judged on overall direction, but also many decisions over the course of a season, during a match, game my game, week by week. Changing a manager is also usually less upheaval, or it should be. I suspect you know all of this, but like I said you’re just desperately trying to deflect from Howe. You’re not doing a great job.
  24. There can’t be any reasoning with you then. I think you’re just trying to win the internet.
  25. No, I wouldn’t. For a number of reasons. I think the players have stopped believing in him. I think he’s become stubborn with selections and tactics. I don’t think he’s particularly great in the transfer market. I think turning things around when you’ve been in charge and it’s being getting worse for a long period of time is different to going in somewhere new with new ideas. There are obviously no guarantees with a new manager, of course there aren’t. However the most likely scenario I can see at the moment if Howe stays is this just continues, he goes fairly early next season, a new manager is playing catch up, and we’re looking toward 27/28 to do anything again.
