Twente don't think that £10m+ is a serious offer for a player who's only ever played in Holland and hasn't even made an impact for his country yet. But they are taking our £6m bid for Douglas seriously, and someone's stuck in a fridge or something, it might their president herman munster but that's unconfirmed.
-
Well we paid, what?, £1m for him? He's decent, and underrated by some. But he did want to leave with only one year left on his deal and he is fourth choice here, so that probably explains why its a bit over £3m rather then £4m.
-
We have 3 strikers left now. One is physically incapable of playing more than 20 minutes and another is capable of 70 minutes at best. Fact is he's fourth choice striker, also I think you're exaggerating just a bit there aren't you?
-
You're forgetting Xisco In one years time we can all forget the cunt. In fact I wonder what he'd take to fuck off right now?

Nothing wrong with that. Didn't we reject a 30 million offer for Carroll not so long ago only to see them coming back with 5 million more? I have said earlier Twente are notoriously hard negotiators. If Dekka thought he could just go there and pick their best players up on the cheap he was well mistaken. Why not? We did with Tiote We sold one of the best goalkeepers in the Premiership to the richest football club the world has ever seen for a mere 6 million, yet you wouldn't call us soft touches in negotiation, would you? Besides, Tiote was a fringe player for them, Luuk de Jong is there best and most important player by some distance. Hardly comparable really.. I'm not sure the fee for Given was ever confirmed, and there were certainly higher fee's being mentioned, like £8m. Still not enough for a top keeper (at the time...) but on the other hand he'd handed in a transfer request and that changes things. If De Jong hands one in £11m would go from rejected to please can we have £11m for him Mr Ashley sir. Unfortunately I doubt De Jong will hand in a transfer request.

We'll have a plan b, c, d and e.
-
I seriously doubt we've bid £11m for him like.
-
I wouldn't want us to do that kind of thing if it means ripping off another club. But if it means ripping off some agents?, absolutely
-
Selling under value in itself isn't fraud. But if they could prove they agreed to sell De Jong for £4m more in order to remove £4m from Douglas's price to avoid paying fee's then that would be fraudulent. Maybe if they sold him for a couple of million they could argue that Douglas had only one year left and had refused to come back to the club (which he has I think?) and that's why he was sold on the cheap. I agree that 500k would look very suspicious.

Maybe but if they are genuinely interested and it came down to a choice between us and them im still confident we could get him. Higher average crowds than us, Champions league, beautiful city, playing with the great Bobadilla, crying out for a goal scorer on which to hang their hats. Hmmm... not sure I'd be that confident. Out of interest, where are you getting their average attendance from? I was looking at Bundesliga average attendances a little while ago and couldn't find a reliable source.

We didn't though, he got a large signing on fee and also large agent fees were paid (£2m-£3m combined apparently). There's absolutely no way we'd then give him a low release clause were he then gets a further £4m by leaving, because that makes it a certainty he will. Its bollocks IMO. Makes no sense to me either Was the Owen release clause thing ever confirmed btw? I remember it being something ridiculous like we could leave for £4m less than we paid for him after his first year. I vaguely remember something about that, was that not just a mix up with regards to amortisation? Just a guess, it may have been a real clause who knows.
-
Of course yeah most players get big signing on fees when there's no fee to pay to a club. But I still doubt the people running the club considered Ba to be "free" given the fees paid to him and his agents. I just can't see the sense in the deal being claimed. Giving Ba a deal were he's on a lowish wage but with a lot of bargaining power for a new deal or the ability to leave if he does well makes sense. But to also effectively say "If you do well we'll not only let you go on the cheap we'll actually pay you £4m to leave out of the fee" is crackers.

That gives him no incentive at all to stay, in fact it makes it a certainty he'll leave with absolutely no plus point for us in the deal at all. Its bollocks IMO.

Maybe, unfortunately for Twente we're not Liverpool. If they really have increased their asking price from one offer to the next (which sounds insane so I'm not sure its true at all) then we'll walk away tomorrow.
-
Isn't there a quote from Twente saying they want 15 million Euro's. Which Sky Sports News mistook for £15m, which Dutch media have now translated to 18m Euro's I hope so anyway, because we won't be paying 18m Euro's for him, nor should we.

Gattuso, Palacios, Emre, Kuyt, Raul, Podolski and Kagawa all signed for new clubs. How many players had moved clubs by this time last year?
-
With all other current deals being the same it increases the total Premier League TV money from £2.76 billion to £4 billion, a 46% increase which I definitely wouldn't describe as not significant. God knows what it'll be when the next international TV deal is negotiated again. EDIT: Looking around it seems the international TV deal was renewed from 2010-2013 at £1.4b in 2010, which would make the total more like £3.4 billion before this new deal and £4.66 billion afterwards, still a 38% increase though.
-
Who cares what we paid for him? That's got nothing to do with what he's worth to the club now.
-
Why would it make a difference to either aspect? Not sure what he's getting at but it does make the UK market stand out. It will be even cheaper for Premier League clubs to do their shopping abroad rather than in the British transfer market with too much money floating around, inflating prices further. I suppose in that sense it means we might hold on to our players as it's far more attractive for our rivals to import than buy domestically. That said, that has been the case for a number of years but many clubs still haven't caught on. Alternatively other clubs will be able to offer our players even higher wages without having to do anything for it. Yeah but so would we if we feel a player is worth the higher wage. This should actually bridge the gap between us and wealther clubs to a degree. For instance Man Utd's revenue would increase by 12% with this new TV deal given the same league finish, ours would increase by 30%. It has to be linked with Performance related pay. In general a club should always have a wage structure so that they will always break even despite where they finish. I don't mind players earning big bonuses for finishing 5th in the league. I agree, just pointing out that this extra money will come to us as well as other Premier League clubs, so I wouldn't worry about it making them even more able to outspend us. On the other hand it should definitely push us further ahead of a lot of foreign sides financially, which is good since that's mostly were we buy our players

Can you see Ashley giving all our players a 30% pay rise just because this could potentially increase our revenue by the same percentage?
-
Why would it make a difference to either aspect? Well I suppose you could say it'll inflate the price of UK based players even further, making it even more attractive to buy from abroad instead.
-
In that case he'd be better off staying where he is. Except he'll also get a signing on fee, pay rise and chance to play in the Premier League. The assumption was he wasn't money driven and likes to be around French people.. The suggestion was that money might not mean everything to him, not that it means nothing, there is such a thing as priorities.

Jelavic has been as good if not better than Cisse according to Carragher? Almost as good as Cisse ok, as good? maybe arguable, but better?, what a clueless loon.
